Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I believe that the next revival will come on a personal level for everyone who will pick up his or her bible daily to read, study, and meditate. Engage in personal times of prayer day and night; move from selfish Christianity to the place of personal service of others and the will and purpose of the Lord. Throughout the Bible, we see the Lord moved in the situation of his people, when they return to the ordinances of His word for guidance, in correction of their ways, or even for a new beginning, when they have engaged God in prayer and when they have stepped out to do his will. I believe that these three constants of our Christian faith also double as oracles of God, because in them the power of God is made alive; divine answers, messages, and burdens are granted to those who will diligently ask, seek, and knock. I believe that these three are oracles in their individual standings, but never to be practiced individually. Rather, when all three are embraced as a lifestyle, there will be a threefold release of the power of God. Revival will break forth within individuals and hence the entire body of Christ. This book is a holy cry for the people of God to avail themselves of these one-on-one connections with the almighty: Through his oracles.

At the same time others have based their theological dispositions on "signs and wonders" characterized by the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement. Popular teachers Paul Cain and R.T. Kendall believe that God is on the brink of releasing an era of unprecedented glory as the people of God "marry" together both the Word and the Spirit.

This book analyses influences upon the movement and changes wrought by it in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Congo, highlighting its impact on spirituality, political discourse and culture. A variety of scholarly approaches to a complex and changing phenomenon are juxtaposed with the narration of personal stories of testimony, vital to spirituality and expression of the revival, which give a sense of the dynamism of the movement. Those yet unacquainted with the revival will find a helpful introduction to its history. Those more familiar with the movement will discover new perspectives on its influence.

Book excerpt: This book examines the response of several British churches to the problems of industrialism during the period of the socialist revival, a period that also saw the rise of the Labour Party and other workingmen's associations. Here is a comprehensive survey of the personalities and organizations responsible for the Christian socialist revival. The author presents a history of the Labour Party and an analysis of the theological and economic ideas of the Christian Socialists, comparing them with those of the earlier and better-known men of the 1850’s, and with their French originals. Originally published in 1968. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity Reborn provides the first transnational in-depth analysis of the global expansion of evangelical Protestantism during the past century. While the growth of evangelical Christianity in the non-Western world has already been documented, the significance of this book lies in its scholarly treatment of that phenomenon. Written by prominent historians of religion, these chapters explore the expansion of evangelical (including charismatic) Christianity in non-English-speaking lands, with special reference to dynamic indigenous responses. The range of locations covered includes western and southern Africa, eastern and southern Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. The concluding essay provides a sociological account of evangelicalism's success, highlighting its ability to create a multiplicity of faith communities suited to very different ethnic, racial, and geographical regions. At a time of great interest in the growth of Christianity in the non-Western world, this volume makes an important contribution to our understanding of what may be another turning point in the historical development of evangelical faith. Book excerpt: All truly religious movements are informed by a search for spiritual renewal, often signaled by an attempt to return to what are seen as the original, undiluted values of earlier times. Elements of this process are to be seen in the history of almost all modern religious revivals, both inside and outside the mainstream denominations.

Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage
