De nombreuses personnes dans diverses parties du monde reconnaissent que leurs traditions ont la primauté dans leur vie sociale et leurs relations interpersonnelles sur les normes sécularisées des droits de l'homme. Pourtant, bien qu'il s'agisse d'une déclaration sommaire qui reflète les aspirations les plus profondes des peuples du monde, la DUDH (Déclaration universelle des droits de l'homme) est la pierre angulaire permettant aux dirigeants religieux et laïcs de construire un système de droit qui aidera à promouvoir, respecter et faire respecter les droits de l'homme. Indépendamment des droits de l'homme ou des valeurs religieuses, unir et interconnecter les droits de l'homme civils et politiques, économiques et sociaux, individuels et collectifs peut assurer une vie sociale harmonieuse aux niveaux national et international. En termes plus simples, tout ce qui fonctionne pour protéger la vie et la sécurité humaines est ce dont le système mondial des droits de l'homme a besoin.
