It is a Christian literature written in a very special way. The poems contained in the book are written in a way that even persons in primary school can read and understand them very easily. The book comes in different volumes. The volume one which you are now reading contains many poems that are capable of educating, entertaining the reader as well as lifting the soul to the concerns of Christian faith. Volume two of this book promises to be very classic while volume three will surely be an interesting masterpiece. PREFACE The book you are now holding on your palm is a collection of poems written just from a Christian point of view. The baste essence of Christian literature among other things is to teach, Evangelize and enhance the knowledge and spiritual growth of believers, A Christian literature is also an avenue for publicizing our God as the scripture admonishes us in Psalms 68:11. In any case this book "Food for the soul" is yet another Christian classic with a difference; due to the fact that it is written in a poetic yet very easy to understand form. The writer of these poems is inspired to pass the message across in a way that the reader will among other things, be entertained, educated and reminded of certain unique events and messages that are contained in the Holy Scripture. It is also strongly hoped that a book of this kind will go a long way to prove beyond doubt that our God is wholesome and Christianity is very unique and so is man's sure access to his creator. Although poetry is literature in a hurry and so, it is always very economical with words; be that as it may, the poems that are contained in this book are written in a way that average literate person can read and easily understand the message that each poem has to pass across. Efforts were also made by the writer to avoid high-sounding vocabularies so that the reader does not need to bother himself for explanations and meanings of words while reading the poems. Moreover, the poems are written in very interesting format so that the reader will have the urge to read them repeatedly without being bored. Although most of the contents of these poems are things that average Christian already knew but just as every verse of the scripture is always new whenever one reads it meditatively. So, it is strongly hoped that each time one reads any poem in this book meditatively, He will get a new insight to the rich Christian values. Scripture references are given at the end of each poem. Although not all related scripture references are given here but the essence of the few that are given is meant to remind the reader that the contents of the respective poems is not in contrast with the messages and teachings of the Holy scripture. Very captivating, intriguing, insightful, educative, entertaining, highly emotional, and very incisive; this book promises to make an interesting reading and will surely tune up your life. So, why not sit back, relax and enjoy this interesting masterpiece. Remain blessed as you enjoy yourself.

Book excerpt: As children, we searched for four-leaf clovers and carried a keychain with a rabbit’s foot because we were told they were good luck. We were told not to cut the pole or step on a crack on the sidewalk. We put our teeth under our pillow so the Tooth Fairy would leave money. We collected Easter eggs from the Easter Bunny. We tried to stay awake in hopes of getting a glimpse of Santa Claus. We blew out candles and made a wish without questioning who we were making a wish to or who answers wishes. Instead of being told we were created in God’s image, just below the angels and were given dominion over the earth, we were told after we die, we could be reincarnated and return as one of the very things we were given dominion over. These tales and exaggerations seem harmless because we mature and grow out of, but I want to address the deliberate and calculated lies and fallacies that are detrimental to our well-being and eternal soul. The pandemic is a word people are familiar with, but not its biblical synonym—pestilence. In addition, when God sends a famine, man will call it a food shortage, so you must learn to discern and observe with your insight and not your eyesight so you can walk by faith and not by sight. God sent plagues/pestilence for judgment, warning, and correction as a result of sin. In biblical days, the leader would hold a solemn assembly of fasting and praying, where they would repent and ask God for forgiveness. Many can’t wait to get back to a “normal” that was spiritually abnormal to God. We live in a world where people are more interested in man’s concepts than God’s precepts, in predictions than prophecy, religion than a relationship, luck than blessings, staying a victim than becoming a victor, more concerned about the unvaccinated than the unsaved, religious tenets than God’s commandments, in seminars than sermons, and rather warn us that Santa Claus is coming to town than Jesus is returning, talk about global warming than how cold we are to one another, and climate change than changing the climate of racial tension and discord. People think when we die, that’s it. But there is what people call “Life after death,” which I call “Life after flesh.” Don’t just plan for a future that’s not promised, but for your eternity that is. Hopefully, my spiritual journey and insight covered in this book as well as my book, The Bible Will Be My Textbook, will help you discover the truth. Seek and you shall find and be set free. I hope in reading, you will experience a spiritual growth spurt as I have. Poetically yours, Raven M. Brown

You will notice a caption under poems of "Thoughts", these will read thoughts at time of writing the poem in reference. It journeys through the spiritual growth of being a Christian in the world of today. It is not your typical lovey dovely Christian poems generated of past. It touches on moments created in the world of today. Although some poems do have emphases of love, some poems emphasize the struggles Christians face today to give encouragement to remain faithful no matter what the struggle. Remaining faithful as a Christian in society as it is today, can be very hard. Hope of this chapbook is that many see it is faith that gets one through, and not so much rule and regulation that so many Christians live under today. Shown here in color, but to keep cost down interior is black and white. It includes 114 poems of Spiritual Growth in promoting love and faith as one grows as Christian. This book began by writing in my journal daily to release the stresses of every day life. This is a blessing to share the written words of inspiration with others. Your silence is golden; it consists of spending time with self. Expressing yourself from within is the best therapy no money can buy. The poems are based on real life and learning how to live with the trials and triumphs of life. The title of this book, My Silence is Golden, describes my quiet nature and how I consume life. Learning to enjoy life, being grateful of what each day brings. Remember that, as we live day by day, we tend to think everything we accomplished is our doing. God reminds us, He is in charge. Yes we are blessed to be able to turn up and down the volume of life. God intervenes to comfort and guide us. As you read the pages of this book, the poems are from the heart. Each poem signifies how the simple things are the most precious things. I hope this book inspires you to endure what life has in store for you.

Book excerpt: This major new poetry collection from bestselling poet and priest Malcolm Guite features more than seventy new and previously unpublished works. At the heart of this collection is a sequence of twenty seven sonnets written in response to George Herbert’s exquisite sonnet 'Prayer', each one describing prayer in an arresting metaphor such as ‘the church's banquet’, ‘reversed thunder’, ‘the Milky Way’, ‘the bird of paradise’ and ‘something understood’. In conversation with each of these, Malcolm’s sonnets offer profound insights into the nature of communion with God in all circumstances and conditions. Recognising that all poetry is a pursuit of prayer, After Prayer also includes forty five more widely ranging new poems, including a sonnet sequence on the seven heavens.

Book excerpt: The 12th Book featured in the 2020 series of Parousia Christian Poetry Chapbook published by Parousia Magazine/My book, "Poems of Inspiration and Hope," represents my best effort to express my feelings of spiritual longing in a world that seems to grow more uncertain by the day. In order to accomplish this, I've created this chapbook of inspirational poems that offers substantive hope and some possible ideas for spiritual growth. Since life is often difficult to understand, the poems also help provide a sense of purpose and consolation. This allows the reader to develop courage that can foster feelings of reassurance and of self-confidence. Since most of my poems could be called meditative poems, they also have a feeling of tranquility that can sometimes be experienced by the reader. For example, in the poem, "Every Trial is Grace," the main idea centers on how suffering and trials can promote spiritual development. This, in turn, can lead to a closer and more mature relationship with God. In order to underscore this concept and as well as the ideas in other poems in the book, each poem offers corresponding Biblical passages that explain a deeper, more profound understanding of the themes in each one. "In every trial is Grace," St. Peter describes suffering as transitory, and it is grace because trials lead us ever closer to God. "And the God of all grace, who called you to his external glory in Christ, after you have suffered, a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong and steadfast." (1 Peter 5:10). In this passage, trials are seen as grace because they lead to divine love. This is not to suggest, of course, that having spiritual courage during a time of trial is a simple task.Another example of the poems that are meant to reassure is called, "Love Will Find a Way." This verse asserts that when there is no way forward; God will make a way for us. The Biblical passage I included to reinforce and expand on the unstoppable will of God is in Proverbs. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledges him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6). This helps point out directly that God's providence can always find the best path even when we can't.A final illustration of a poem in the book that discusses a difficult topic focuses on the concept of death. The poem "When Finally I Wake in Heaven," does not acknowledge death as the final defeat. Instead the poem expresses death as the gateway to love, peace, and acceptance. The Biblical verse that simultaneously expresses the truth about death but also offers an affirmation about the mystery beyond death is St. Paul. "No eyes have seen, no ears heard, nor has man conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." (1 Corinthians 2:9). Clearly, misery in life is transformed into bliss so in death children of God prevail. Finally, my poems originally were a kind of spiritual and creative exercise that gave me a sense of peace. But in time, these poems became a way to help others, even as the verses continue to offer me a measure of serenity. I hope the reader enjoys and finds solace in the poems. John Zurn

Book excerpt: Presenting the Truths of the Bible in a Contemporary, Engaging Style With over 300 Inspirational Rhymes The author, Simon Siewsaran, is the Founder and Senior Pastor of the Everlasting Gospel Church (established in 1997), a vibrant community ministry, located at Enterprise, Trinidad. Pastor Siewsaran is also the host of "Don't Give Up," a popular radio broadcast that began in 2001 and is heard throughout Trinidad & Tobago and the southern Caribbean. His early years in ministry were primarily among delinquent youths, including drug addicts, and during this time was himself the target of numerous molestations from fellow villagers. Yet signs and wonders continue to follow this servant of God who has impacted thousands of lives in honour of the Kingdom. His effervescent, lyrical style of preaching endears him to both young and old; and his anointed ministry extends beyond his pastoral duties, most notably as the President of "Touch T&T Ministries," a para-church organization that conducts national events, including crusades, concerts and prayer assemblies. Pastor Siewsaran's missionary trips include the Holy Land - three occasions - Egypt, England, Holland, USA and the Caribbean islands of Antigua, Barbados and St. Lucia. In 1997 he received the title of Jerusalem Pilgrim from Israel's Ministry of Tourism. He is the husband of Johanna and the father of two daughters, Victoria Sarah and Gloria Elizabeth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains sixty Bible inspired poems derived from Bible themes, character summaries, Bible-book summaries, and personal experiences, all laced with theology of God's grace towards our salvation. They are meant for meditation, personal growth and transformation, and thanksgiving to God, for those familiar with the Bible and those who would like to be. These poems are great for Bible devotionals, theological reflection and spiritual growth, and for summarizing sermons and scriptural teachings. But all of these poems promise to inspire, encourage and surprise. That is what the Lord did for me as I wrote these poems over the last two years. I guarantee when you read these poems you will experience the same inspiration to seek the Lord, be encouraged by the extent of His plan for you and all creation, be surprised by how God's Spirit will transform you, and thankful when it does. And you will be surprised when the Holy Spirit prompts you to look up your questions that arise. Biblical references are included to help. But be assured, the most important impact will be your overwhelming appreciation for God's great mercy and love, a thankfulness that comes directly from the Lord Himself! Some poems are free verse, but most rhyme for easy memorization, except when the cryptic style of some break or compromise their natural rhythm. This is not just "poetic license," but to cause you to slow down and consider personal relevance and application. The cryptic style purposely contains some ambiguity-sort of like impressionistic art that needs the viewer's interpretation-capturing the mystery of Scripture. Some poems include biblical explanation. The story of Jonah shows how God uses even the reluctant to assure his plan of salvation, I AM WHO I AM indicates God's loving provisions shown through his revered names, while Romans 8 sums up God's plan to counter sin and provide salvation for mankind and creation. Two poems are from personal experiences of biblical content, Exorcism and My Dream's Healing Answer. Take your time reading these poems, only one or two a day to consider their significance. They are presented in the order I was inspired to write them, so use the index to zero in on particular interests. I have noticed a thread of continuity in their order. See if you do too. Enjoy! L.J. Martini What Critiques are saying: The Scriptures have inspired poetry through the ages, including works by Shakespeare, Milton and Donne. A contemporary poet who has an unwavering devotion to Scripture, Leonard Martini has composed a collection of enlightening and inspiring poems. You'll feel like you've just read a wonderful devotional book. Highly recommended. Richard Hankins, English Professor, Southwestern College, San Diego, CA. Relive, Reset, Reflect, Expect. Leonard Martini's turn of phrase reflects new insights... Like holding a polished diamond up to the Light this book is a place of reflection, refracting revered passages with newfound clarity. These poems are a tender love story to God and humanity. You have here a true rare gem. Expect Refreshment. Kerry Strom, Writer/Producer, PBS, National Agencies. This marvelous book brings us Scripture in the form of rhyming and unrhymed poems. There are a great variety of verse forms and messages delightfully simple yet stimulating and profound like the Scripture they are both inspired by and modeled on. Read these little "Scripturelets" and you will find that the very Creator of the Universe speaks to you, touches your heart and your life in ways that are both subtle and obvious, simple and profound. Read this work and be uplifted onto a higher plane of thought and being. Edwin J. Heck, Ph.D. English Professor Emeritus.
