Book excerpt: An individual's mind, body, and soul can suffer many scars throughout their journey. At times, these wounds occur because we don't have divine truth to battle back the devil's lies. Author Lucien Pilon has suffered from schizophrenia and experienced auditory hallucinations. As such, he came to rely on the Holy Spirit to destroy the lies he heard time and time again. An individual's testimony can bring light to another's darkness: knowledge is power! It is written that God's creations perish because they don't have the wisdom and understanding to aid them on their journey to the everlasting. Pilon fought back the darkness with God's Word, the Holy Spirit, and his love for life as he gradually climbed the spiritual mountains God laid before him. Along the way, God showed him his worth even in sickness. He decided to share his journey so that those who read it can humbly grow to become God's glory, carrying the keys to Heaven and helping to heal and free others from the captivity of sin, empowered by God's wisdom, light, and love through the Lord Jesus Christ. Only the fool says, "There is no God." About the Author: Lucien R.J. Pilon is an artist who recently received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. The youngest of five boys, he was born and raised in Southwestern Ontario. This book shares his personal journey with schizophrenia and is a testimony of God's faithfulness.

God has set before us life and death, blessing and cursing. Th e choices we make in life will determine which of these will dominate our destiny. Th ere are spiritual laws that control our universe- the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus and the law of sin and death. What we decide to do with these laws will determine to a large degree what kind of eff ect they will have on us. Spiritual schizophrenia is a struggle that most Christians face-choosing between a spiritual mind or a carnal mind-deciding everyday what law they choose to see operate in their life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On July 1, 1959, at Ypsilanti State Hospital in Michigan, the social psychologist Milton Rokeach brought together three paranoid schizophrenics: Clyde Benson, an elderly farmer and alcoholic; Joseph Cassel, a failed writer who was institutionalized after increasingly violent behavior toward his family; and Leon Gabor, a college dropout and veteran of World War II. The men had one thing in common: each believed himself to be Jesus Christ. Their extraordinary meeting and the two years they spent in one another’s company serves as the basis for an investigation into the nature of human identity, belief, and delusion that is poignant, amusing, and at times disturbing. Displaying the sympathy and subtlety of a gifted novelist, Rokeach draws us into the lives of three troubled and profoundly different men who find themselves “confronted with the ultimate contradiction conceivable for human beings: more than one person claiming the same identity.”

Book excerpt: Gloria Lovejoy’s memoir is an unabashed account of a troubled woman’s life in small town Pennsylvania coping with family strife, drug abuse, alcoholism, promiscuity, and suicide attempts. Later came the paranoid delusions, voices, demonic apparitions and hallucinations that were the tell-tale signs of a diagnosed schizophrenic disorder. Many rejected her and stigmatized her as “crazy.” She spent years in therapy and in and out of mental institutions. However, Gloria’s Road demonstrates that the mentally ill are not without salvation, that schizophrenia is not outside of Christ’s mercy and grace, and that the power of God can work despite a comprised mental state. Gloria’s Road offers evidence that the mentally ill have hope, and that through Christ, they can live fulfilling and fruitful lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this book is particularly significant in that Dr. Rushdoony was able to identify the basic contradiction that pervades a secular society that rejects God's sovereignty by still needs law and order, justice, science, and meaning to life. Secular man wants to use the thinks of creation while denying their creator. As Dr. Rushdoony writes, 'there is no law, no society, no justice, no structure, no design, no meaning apart from God.' And so, modern man has become schizophrenic. He wants to assert his autonomy while rejecting the divine order that gives meaning to life. To the humanist, the aim of living is something he calls the 'good life.' For the nihilist, it is violence and death. Dr. Rushdoony saw cultural schizophrenia as a split between thought and feeling, a withdrawal from the reality of God and a flight into fantasies of world government achieved through an unattainable unity. Utopians are undeniably schizophrenic. They want a heaven on earth, which can only be achieved by coercion and enslavement. But perhaps what they really want, as depraved human beings, is coercion and enslavement, and use utopian idealism to deceive and entrap the gullible. Nor is it by accident that the government schools now lavish so much time on death education, which has been marbleized throughout the curriculum. As Dr. Rushdoony writes: 'For man to turn his back on God, therefore, is to turn towards death.' And this is exactly what the government schools have done. Add to this, multiculturalism, transcendental meditation, sensitivity training, explicit sex education, drug education, evolution, behavioral psychology, humanism, whole language, and other such programs, and you get a curriculum that is so profoundly anti-Christian that one wonders how any Christian parent or minister can condone putting a Christian child in a government school from the forward by Samuel L. Blumenfeld

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What just happened to me-and why? Are you of the opinion that everything that happens to you in life, even the evil, somehow comes from God? Are you ready to examine this in the light of Jesus' practices and teachings? Schizophrenic God? uncovers the myth of extreme sovereignty and invites you into a deeper biblical understanding of God's nature and His sovereign will. Have you ever wondered: * Why does a good and loving God allow evil? * Is God really sovereign if He doesn't control all events? * Does God's will for your life automatically come to pass? * How does God's sovereignty and human responsibility come together? * Are there variables that can hinder God's will for your life? The answers to these questions and many others are revealed in this book, which compares false traditional beliefs with Jesus' worldview--removing confusion that blocks God's will for your life. Schizophrenic God? is a close look at fate and free will. Has God predetermined everything that happens in your life, or do your own free-will decisions help determine your destiny? You will be challenged to rethink the assumptions you have made about God, which brings comfort and empowerment in the truths of a good God, human choice, and the prayer of faith that changes things. Rest assured--you do not serve a schizophrenic Father.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of this book is to help change misconceptions that have historically pervaded Christianity by educating both laity and clergy about serious mental illness. It will accomplish this goal via an in-depth, exegetic examination of biblical accounts of what may have been untreated serious mental illness from the perspective of a psychiatrist and Christian. This in-depth examination will demonstrate that 1) serious mental illness was likely present and relatively common in biblical times, and similar in phenomenology to how it manifests today, and 2) that some instances of demon-possession and exorcisms as described in the Bible could, in a post-Enlightenment narrative, be better explained by occurring in the context of untreated mental illness, and that this could reveal a great deal of information about the biblical view of mental illness. Some of these accounts are from the Old Testament and some from the New Testament. Each essay will provide an in-depth examination of the biblical account from the perspective of a board-certified psychiatrist who is an expert in the field of serious mental illness and who is also a practicing Christian.

I stand before you as an active writer who has already published four books on schizophrenia and one essay. My experiences with Christianity and its boundless love are the reasons why I felt compelled to write this book. Born and raised in a Christian family, I have been immersed in the Christian faith since birth. With both my paternal and maternal families being Christian, I understand the religion better than most. However, the primary motivation behind writing this book is my desire to give hope to those who are suffering from mental illnesses, who are facing even greater hardships than I did. If I were to recover from schizophrenia, I would first and foremost give all the glory to God. In a way, the very act of writing this book is a beacon of hope for those with schizophrenia. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2014. Initially, I lacked awareness of my illness and wandered aimlessly, unaware that I was sick. However, through God's unwavering mercy and love, I am now able to write to you. I invite you to join me on this precious journey, to laugh and cry as you read my words. This book is a testament to my faith, a celebration of God's love and glory, and a chronicle of the miraculous recovery to everyday life that comes to those who believe in His healing power. I want to share this journey of recovery with you fully. December 21, 2022, 5:52 PM With the belief that God's unwavering love will also find you, Sincerely, Writer Yoo Kyung-Mo

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Delivered from the Torment is an intense biographical account of my battle at fourteen, of severe schizophrenia. My mother's experience is also documented. This book is unique in the fact that it covers "critical" factors. Factors that contribute to the "cause" of one of the most mysterious and misunderstood illnesses. Brought to light and rarely mentioned in any literature, is the direct interference of hell itself in this disease. A personal devil who is the core enemy that I continue to fight today. The biochemistry of these people is delved into deeply, covering the brain cells, synapses, dopamine, serotonin levels etc. With a corresponding healthy diet and healthy spiritual lifestyle. Accentuated is the miracle B- vitamin; NIACIN. How critical it is for the electrical wiring of the brain, and how all of us would benefit from it. One of the blessings of being on niacin early is its affect on the aging process. This book provides hope and answers from someone whom God has given many talents to. I state this because when I was ill I could eventually do nothing. This book has been meticulously written with research, and medical terms and precise information that are 100 % accurate.
