Book excerpt: This timely edited collection offers a multidisciplinary perspective on social commerce, a phenomenon that has gained increasing interest over the last 8 years. Investigating how social media can be used to generate value for brands beyond customer relationship purposes, the skilled authors explore how social media users co-create value for businesses, influence other consumers and generate electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM). Providing insights from practitioners and academics, this book goes further than simply exploring e-commerce and social media, and addresses the real relevance of social commerce in today’s business landscape. With a selection of contemporary case studies and a Foreword written by Inthefrow’s creator, Victoria Magrath, Social Commerce will be an engaging read for those studying consumer behaviour, online marketing, and e-commerce.

Searching for product information, inquiring about services, comparing prices, and purchasing make-up are just some of the shopping functions done on mobile devices. How does this change how firms do business? What are the differences between desktop computer shoppers and mobile device shoppers? Moreover, are firms prepared to do business in this changing environment? The purpose of this book is to answer questions concerning the benefits of mobile commerce and its commonalities and contrasts with electronic commerce. Electronic commerce is still viable and we examine its validity along with mobile commerce. Mobile commerce is not electronic commerce, and we discuss the differences, as well as how one can enhance the other. Consumers use both electronic commerce and mobile commerce, as well as offline shopping, on their path to purchase in total omnichannel environment-using all channels. We integrate the opportunities and challenges to bring an idea of the future of marketing with an emphasis on both mobile and electronic commerce, into digital commerce.

To examine the relationship among these variables, this study adopted the consumption value theory (Sheth, Newman, & Gross, 1991). A sample was collected from 398 online consumers in China's four cities provided usable reposes to this study. The results revealed that perceived emotional value were the most important factor influenced consumers' intention to shop at an online retailer using mobile apps. Specifically, perceived convenience, monetary, and conditional values significantly influenced consumers' intention to shop at an online retailer using mobile apps. Contrary to expectations, the social and epistemic values did not have a significant effect on intention to shop at an online retailer using mobile apps. Findings also suggested that consumers' intention to shop at an online retailer using mobile apps and the intention to shop at the retailer's offline extension were showed a significant positive relationship.
