Download or read book Chilton's Challenge written by James B Battles and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2010-06-06 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a two act play which is the story of James Chilton, the oldest pilgrim passenger on the Mayflower. He was born a Roman Catholic in Canterbury, County Kent, England and died a committed separatist off Cape Cod in the new world. His wife Susanna was the only pilgrim female to have been excommunicated by the Church of England. James and his family were harried out of the country in the words of King James because of their religious beliefs and fled to Leiden in the Netherlands. James, his wife Susanna and his youngest daughter Mary were passengers on the Mayflower leaving their two older daughters behind in Leiden. The challenge of his life repents that of many of our pilgrim fathers and explains how and why they came to America. The second act of the play tells the story of the Pilgrims first years through the voice of Mary Chilton.
Download or read book The Round written by Steve Chilton and published by Sandstone Press Ltd. This book was released on 2017-01-19 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Round is not only a history of the Bob Graham Round, but also an exploration of the what, why and how of this classic fell endurance challenge. After covering the genesis of the BGR in detail, it documents its development from a more-or-less idle challenge to its present status as a rite of passage for endurance runners. Interspersed with this detail of the round are extensive profiles of many of the event's most significant individuals: innovators, record setters, recorders and supporters. Some links to resources for potential BGR completers are be included. The Round is emphatically NOT a 'how to' guide, but it IS a terrific follow up to Steve Chilton's hugely popular first book, It's a Hill, Get Over It.

Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK Josh Scott, Will Scott’s son in the past two novels, Central and Van Buren and Teresa Garcia, has grown up, graduated from college, and is now a software engineer for a small tech company. His old childhood friend, Mya Chilton, who fled the country as an eleven-year-old child ahead of the Arizona authorities, has returned to the US. Eight years earlier her parents, noted philanthropists and researchers, Edward and Janaya Chilton, were murdered and Mya was the only witness to the crimes. Was Mya Chilton involved in these murders, a ten-year-old child? She has returned to Phoenix as an adult to acquire a piece of software, but the real reason is unknown. In fact, what she has been doing for the past decade has also been a mystery compounded by the interest the federal government has in Mya and her unique abilities, her father’s groundbreaking research, and Mya’s groundbreaking research into complex mathematical equations and theorems. She is so advanced that the American government cannot allow her to run around the world alone and unprotected; what she knows is incredible and dangerous – to the entire world. Enter the military. Enter the FBI. Enter the world of genetic enhancement. Enter the mathematics world of P versus NP, and the mathematics proof, P = NP. The game that Mya Chilton is playing is dangerous, but how does that involve Josh Scott? How does it involve Will Scott, now retired? Josh and Mya have always had a rare connection, and one they both were waiting to continue to explore when she came home. She was but a child when they met; he was a college student then. What was she doing all these years? Mya presses Josh while Josh resists, then succumbs to one of the greatest discoveries in modern genetics. They think she’s solved it; only she knows if she has. Now they want to know how. But as Josh reconnects with Mya and her people, Josh too has secrets from his past – and present. Rogue elements of the government understand the value and import of the discoveries and look for a way to control Mya and monetize her discoveries. The secret, if true, could change the world in ways no one wants; the two secrets together will change everything. The game is cat-and-mouse, and Josh and Mya are the grand prize, big casino. Everywhere they turn, someone has an angle. Everywhere they turn are bundles of lies and deceptions. A small cadre of men decide that if America can’t control Mya’s genius, then no one can. In that case, Mya Chilton must die The Will Scott saga continues as his son, Josh, steps into his father’s insane and complex world.

Book excerpt: A comprehensive guide to social visionary Joseph Chilton Pearce’s work on the transcendent and magical potential of the human mind • Explores Pearce’s most influential books, including Magical Child, sharing his life-changing insights into why we have become what we are, contrasted with the miracle nature intends us to be • Features essential passages interwoven with Pearce’s own commentary, drawn from personal conversations and unpublished material • Shows how Pearce’s key insights build across his books and break down core assumptions about reality and human potential An expert in child development, Joseph Chilton Pearce (1926-2016) devoted his life to exploring the optimum development and astonishing capacities within each individual human being. Across his 12 visionary books and thousands of lectures, he blended cutting-edge science with spirituality and explored the amazing power of imagination for both children and adults--the space where we are able to play with our reality--inspiring millions to discover the human birthright of a more magical world. In this guide to Pearce’s complete vision of transcendent human potential, Michael Mendizza explores 7 of his most influential books, sharing insights and expertise from Pearce’s full range of interests, from child development and conscious parenting to psychic phenomena and altered states to the power of the mind to shape reality. Offering essential passages interwoven with Pearce’s own commentary, drawn from personal conversations and unpublished material, this book shows how Pearce’s key insights build across his books, breaking down core assumptions about reality and human potential. We see the importance of imagination and empathic, non-verbal forms of wisdom, which have been long overshadowed--to the peril of humanity--by verbal-intellectual skills with their abstract concepts and ideological perspectives. Presenting Pearce’s vision of human potential from the 1950s until the end of his life, this book shares Pearce’s life-changing insights into why we have become what we are, contrasted with the miracle nature intends us to be, allowing each of us to break through our self-inflicted limitations and realize our amazing and magical potential.
