This book was released on 2023-05-01 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mikel Ruiz's The Errant Children, the first novel published in the Tsotsil Maya language, offers a bold and unflinching portrayal of contemporary Maya life in Chiapas, México. Pedro Ton Tsepente' has a position in his village's traditional council, but rather than taking just a few ceremonial drinks, he becomes an alcoholic, subject to blackouts and delirium tremens. His wife, Pascuala, rages at God to step in and change her husband's behavior, taking extreme measures when He does not. Their neighbor, seventeen-year-old Ignacio Ts'unun, learns about gender relations by watching television programs where beautiful women are lighter-skinned and about sex by watching pornography, which leads to disastrous choices. These characters' suffering comes not from conquerors, missionaries, or settlers but from invasive economic and cultural forces that can make Indigenous people devalue themselves. Do not expect to be uplifted, but do prepare to be astonished.

Download or read book Divine Decree written by Ella Zelensky and published by . This book was released on 2022-01-14 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divine Decree is the second poetry book by Ella Zelensky. To know this is a book that people will be holding in their hands is beyond incredible to Ella, as this book was a difficult and daunting one to publish because it's an insight into what happened to her personally, and things that have happened to others. Compelled to write her experiences down, therapeutic in its process, Ella realised that it especially served as an educational tool to inform people that these experiences can and do happen. Some people do, unfortunately, take their lives in circumstances like the ones she and others went through as detailed in this book, and a lot of people don't see more than the classroom appearance or the bus pickup in the afternoon of those who have left us. We have probably walked past someone who had no one to sit with, who was on their way to hide in the library or in a toilet stall. Someone who was hurting. and even living their last day. These situations exist, and people themselves exist. So fortunate to have recovered from that time all on her own, because deep down, Ella knew she didn't want to not be here anymore. Rather, Ella wanted to change the 'here' a lot of us don't want to be in to a 'here' we love and savour. Her dream to be a humanitarian worker largely comes from all the people she has met in her life, the struggles she has faced, as well as her familial heritage, hobbies, and academic studies. From the time we were pinning name cards to our shirts and learning the alphabet all the way to our adulthood. It always inspired this question for Ella: why do people treat each other the way they do? But more importantly: and how can we fix it?
Book Synopsis Brouwer meets Husserl by : Mark van Atten
Download or read book Brouwer meets Husserl written by Mark van Atten and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-11-08 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can a line be analysed mathematically such a way that it does not fall apart into a set of discrete points? Are there objects of pure mathematics that can change through time? L. E. J. Brouwer argued that the two questions are related and that the answer to both is "yes", introducing the concept of choice sequences. This book subjects Brouwer's choice sequences to a phenomenological critique in the style of Husserl.
Book Synopsis Jesus and Moses Are Buried in India, Birthplace of Abraham and the Hebrews! by : Gene D. Matlock
Download or read book Jesus and Moses Are Buried in India, Birthplace of Abraham and the Hebrews! written by Gene D. Matlock and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-11 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus and Moses are Buried in India, Birthplace of Abraham and the Hebrews! is a new kind of biblical history that brings out facts, not myths and guessing games. Unlike priests and preachers, who exhort their followers to swallow lies and spiritual ordure, I don't want my readers to swallow what I say naively. They should check all my references for themselves. This book follows the ancestors of the Hebrews from Eastern Siberia down to what is now the Indian subcontinenet; later, to what is now Israel. You'll be surprised to find out who and what Jehovah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses, Jesus really were. The book also blasts dangerous myths, such as the Christian fundamentalists' assertion that "God" wants nearly all Jews to die in a "Battle of Armageddon." That war happened in India, thousands of years ago. We're now in Millennium 2000. It's time for mankind to let truth take over his existence.
Book Synopsis Nature, the Soul, and God, 2nd Edition by : Jean W. Rioux
Download or read book Nature, the Soul, and God, 2nd Edition written by Jean W. Rioux and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-11-08 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The full title of Newton’s Principia is “The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy.” Sadly, some contemporary philosophers might be hard-pressed to say just what natural philosophy is about—sadly, because it remains foundational to questions arising in other disciplines: metaphysics, ethics, philosophical psychology, and the philosophy of god, to name a few. In Nature, the Soul, and God, Jean Rioux has brought together primary readings in the philosophy of nature, presenting ways in which philosophers conceive of and account for the natural world in a pre-scientific reflection upon the way things are. Its three main sections comprise: a consideration of what the world would look like if natural philosophy were not possible, some representative natural philosophies (materialism, formalism, dualism, and hylomorphism), as well as an investigation into the implications these philosophies of nature have for other important questions, such as human freedom and the immortality of the human soul. Through the medium of philosophers both ancient and modern, Rioux makes the point that one’s philosophical account of the natural world will inevitably have an impact upon how one regards oneself, and even things divine. It all begins with nature.
