Book Synopsis Studies of Charmonium-Like States at BaBar by :
Download or read book Studies of Charmonium-Like States at BaBar written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several charmonium-like states above D{bar D} threshold have been discovered at the Belle and BABAR B-factories. Some of these states are produced via Initial State Radiation (e.g. Y(4260) and Y(4350)), and some are observed in B-meson decays (e.g. X(3872), and Y(3940)). The Belle observations of the enhancements in the?(2S)?− and?{sub cl}?−, i.e. the Z(4430)−, Z1(4050)−, and Z2(4250)−, have generated a great deal of interest, because such states must have minimum quark content (c{bar c}d{bar u}), i.e. these are four-quark states. The BABAR Collaboration does not confirm the existence of the Z(4430)−.

Download or read book Multiquark Hadrons written by Ahmed Ali and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2019-04-25 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work summarises the salient features of current and planned experiments into multiquark hadrons, describing various inroads to accommodate them within a theoretical framework. At a pedagogical level, authors review the salient aspects of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the theory of strong interactions, which has been brought to the fore by high-energy physics experiments over recent decades. Compact diquarks as building blocks of a new spectroscopy are presented and confronted with alternative explanations of the XYZ resonances. Ways to distinguish among theoretical alternatives are illustrated, to be tested with the help of high luminosity LHC, electron-positron colliders, and the proposed Tera-Z colliders. Non-perturbative treatments of multiquark hadrons, such as large N expansion, lattice QCD simulations, and predictions about doubly heavy multiquarks are reviewed in considerable detail. With a broad appeal across high-energy physics, this work is pertinent to researchers focused on experiments, phenomenology or lattice QCD.
Book Synopsis Deep Inelastic Scattering by : Masahiro Kuze
Download or read book Deep Inelastic Scattering written by Masahiro Kuze and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 996 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings present the most up-to-date status of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) physics. Topics such as structure function measurements and phenomenology, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) studies in DIS and photoproduction, spin physics and diffractive interactions are reviewed in detail, with emphasis on those studies that push the test of QCD and the Standard Model to the limits of their present range of validity, towards both the very high and the very low four-momentum transfers in leptonproton scattering.

Book Synopsis Symmetry in Particle Physics by : Michal Hnatič
Download or read book Symmetry in Particle Physics written by Michal Hnatič and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-06-24 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Particle physics is a science about the symmetries of our world. The Standard Model is the fundamental theory of microworld. Particle dynamics in the Standard Model obeys strict symmetry laws with explicit experimental consequences. Priority problems of particle physics based on the Standard Model are more accurate theoretical predictions, experimental measurements and data analysis, proof of existence or non-existence of supersymmetry, top quark properties, Higgs boson, exotic quark states, and physics of neutrinos. In this collection of articles, many of these problems are discussed. We recommend this book for students, graduate students, and scientists working in the field of high energy physics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the Workshop is to have intensive discussions on both theoretical and phenomenological aspects of strong coupling gauge theories (SCGTs), with particular emphasis on the model buildings to be tested in the LHC experiments. Dynamical issues are discussed in lattice simulations and various analytical methods. This proceedings volume is a collection of the presentations made at the Workshop by many leading scientists in the field.
Download or read book LHC Phenomenology written by Einan Gardi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-27 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers a very broad spectrum of experimental and theoretical activity in particle physics, from the searches for the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model, to detailed studies of Quantum Chromodynamics, the B-physics sectors and the properties of hadronic matter at high energy density as realised in heavy-ion collisions. Starting with a basic introduction to the Standard Model and its most likely extensions, the opening section of the book presents an overview of the theoretical and phenomenological framework of hadron collisions and current theoretical models of frontier physics. In part II, discussion of the theory is supplemented by chapters on the detector capabilities and search strategies, as well as an overview of the main detector components, the initial calibration procedures and physics samples and early LHC results. Part III completes the volume with a description of the physics behind Monte Carlo event generators and a broad introduction to the main statistical methods used in high energy physics. LHC Phenomenology covers all of these topics at a pedagogical level, with the aim of providing young particle physicists with the basic tools required for future work on the various LHC experiments. It will also serve as a useful reference text for those working in the field.

Book Synopsis Measurements of the X c and X b Quarkonium States in pp Collisions with the ATLAS Experiment by : Andrew Chisholm
Download or read book Measurements of the X c and X b Quarkonium States in pp Collisions with the ATLAS Experiment written by Andrew Chisholm and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-09-14 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis, which won one of the six 2015 ATLAS Thesis Awards, concerns the study of the charmonium and bottomonium bound heavy quark bound states. The first section of the thesis describes the observation of a candidate for the chi_b(3P) bottomonium states. This represented the first observation of a new particle at the LHC and its existence was subsequently confirmed by D0 and LHCb experiments. The second part of the thesis presents measurements of the prompt and non-prompt production of the chi_c1 and chi_c2 charmonium states in proton-proton collisions. These measurements are compared to several theoretical predictions and can be used to inform the development of theoretical models of quarkonium production.
