Unternehmen sollen hier definiert werden als soziale Systeme. Der soziologischen Definition nach kennzeichnen sich soziale Systeme durch ein institutionalisiertes Regelgeflecht (Sinnstrukturen) aus Wertvorstellungen und Normen. Werden innerhalb des Systems „Unternehmen“ Veränderungen vorgenommen, die bis in die Struktur und den Alltag der Mitarbeiter des Unternehmens eingreifen, ist von einem Change-Prozess die Rede. Die Unternehmensspitze steuert das Change Management für den Veränderungsprozess und trägt dafür Sorge, dass die angestrebten Ziele erreicht werden. Welche Rolle spielen die Mitarbeiter in dieser Situation und inwiefern hängen deren Einstellungen am Erfolg? Denn wie gesagt sind Ihre Aktionsbereiche oft direkt betroffen. Das Handbuch Change Management beschreibt es so: „Menschen sind Wesen, die Einfluss auf Ihre Umgebung ausüben wollen [..] Der eine strebt stärker nach Kontrolle und Einfluss, der andere begnügt sich schon mit einer Vorhersagbarkeit der Dinge, die da kommen – oder kurzum: Wer Engagement will, muss Sinn bieten“.1 In diesem Kontext gilt auch: „Jenseits der Sachebene entsteht die Problematik allerdings darin, dass Betroffene nach allen Erfahrungen im Anschluss an das Change-Projekt „Rache“ für eine fehlende Beteiligung nehmen“2 Die Vermittlung von Information und ausreichende Rücksicht erfordern im Change-Prozess demnach besonderes Fingerspitzengefühl. Der Ausgleich unternehmerischer- und Arbeitnehmerinteressen berührt die Bereiche der gefühlten Sicherheit (welche Erwartungen kann ich in Zukunft ins Unternehmen setzen?) und der Motivation: Die Veränderung wird bei einigen Verlust- oder Verlierergefühle wecken – wichtig ist es daher „neue Angebote für Identifikation, Stolz und Motivation zu setzen“3 An diesem Punkt kommt die interne Kommunikation ins Spiel – ihr Fehlen ist „die Hauptursache für das Scheitern oder spektakuläre Misserfolge“4. Psychologische Variablen und der Faktor Unternehmenskultur werden an manchen Stellen als Elemente der sozialen Realität die Wichtigkeit der Kommunikation in Change-Prozessen beleuchten.

The impact of non-book printing has been long neglected. A raft of jobbing work serviced commerce and finance while many more practical guides and more ephemeral pamphlets on trade and investment were read than the books that we now associate with the foundations of modern political economy. A pivotal change in the book trades, apparent from the late seventeenth century, was the increased separation of printers from bookseller-publishers, from the skilled artisan to the bookseller-financier who might have no prior training in the printing house but who took up the sale of publications as another commodity. This book examines the broader social relationship between publication and the practical conduct of trade; the book asks what it meant to be 'published' and how print, text and image related to the involvement of script. The age of Enlightenment was an age of astonishing commercial and financial transformation offering printers and the business press new market opportunities. Print helped to effect a business revolution. The reliability, reputation, regularity, authority and familiarity of print increased trust and confidence and changed attitudes and behaviours. New modes of publication and the wide-ranging products of printing houses had huge implications for the way lives were managed, regulated and recorded.
