Book Synopsis Certain Organic Corrosion Inhibitors for Titanium in Sulfuric Acid. Ii by : A. P. Brynza
Download or read book Certain Organic Corrosion Inhibitors for Titanium in Sulfuric Acid. Ii written by A. P. Brynza and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The corrosive and electrochemical behavior of titanium was studied in 5 N sulfuric acid solutions with admixtures of para-, meta- and orthonitrobenzoic acids. It is shown that these admixtures, like other nitro derivatives, inhibit the corrosion of titanium; a characteristic feature of the action of these inhibitors, once a certain concentration is reached, is their ability to provide complete corrosion protection to titanium by shifting its steady-state potential to the passivation range. It is shown that these inhibitors sharply inhibit the anodic process, decreasing the passivation current severalfold, and facilitate the cathodic process as a result of their own electroreduction. The dependence of the cathodic polarization on the inhibitor concentration and rate of stirring of the solution was studied. The inhibition of the cathodic process upon transition to the range of hydrogen polarization is due to obstacles of a diffusional order. (Author).

Book Synopsis The Effect of Some Organic Additives on the Corrosion of Titanium in Hydrochloric Acid by : L. F. Popova
Download or read book The Effect of Some Organic Additives on the Corrosion of Titanium in Hydrochloric Acid written by L. F. Popova and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dissolution of titanium in hydrochloric acid has been the subject of detailed study. It is possible to slow this process by adding different oxidants (nitric acid, chromic acid) or ions of metals (Cu(2+), Fe(3+), Rt(4+), etc.) to the solution. Not long ago it was shown that several amines of o, m, p isomers of nitro anilines and nitrophenols and also a mixture of urotropine with calcium iodide are effective corrosion inhibitors for titanium in acid media. The authors studied the effect of several organic additives of the amine type and industrial inhibitors on the rate of dissolution of titanium in hydrochloric acid. As it turned out, such effective acid corrosion inhibitors as katapin, BA-6, PB-8/2, a mixture of urotropine with calcium iodide, and also amine-type compounds possess relatively small protective properties. Book Synopsis Green Corrosion Inhibitors by : V. S. Sastri
Download or read book Green Corrosion Inhibitors written by V. S. Sastri and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-02-14 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book to cover developments in corrosion inhibitors is long overdue. This has been addressed by Dr Sastri in a book which presents fundamental aspects of corrosion inhibition, historical developments and the industrial applications of inhibitors. The book deals with the electrochemical principles and chemical aspects of corrosion inhibition, such as stability of metal complexes, the Hammett equation, hard and soft acid and base principle, quantum chemical aspects and Hansch' s model and also with the various surface analysis techniques, e.g. XPS, Auger, SIMS and Raman spectroscopy, that are used in industry for corrosion inhibition. The applications of corrosion inhibition are wide ranging. Examples given in this book include: oil and gas wells, petrochemical plants, steel reinforced cement, water cooling systems, and many more. The final chapters discuss economic and environmental considerations which are now of prime importance. The book is written for researchers in academia and industry, practicing corrosion engineers and students of materials science, engineering and applied chemistry.

Book Synopsis New Challenges and Industrial Applications for Corrosion Prevention and Control by : El Kacimi, Younes
Download or read book New Challenges and Industrial Applications for Corrosion Prevention and Control written by El Kacimi, Younes and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-06-12 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metals are used at an extremely high rate in the industrial and manufacturing fields. Exemplary properties including strength and ductility have made this material highly dynamic; however, the risk of corrosion remains a vital issue. The study of corrosion prevention has attracted interest from researchers and professionals as new technologies are emerging that can assist in the prevention of material destruction. However, research is lacking on the application of these protective technologies within specific fields. New Challenges and Industrial Applications for Corrosion Prevention and Control provides emerging research exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of protective methods against corrosion and the implementation of these techniques within a wide span of professional disciplines. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as molecular modeling, surface treatments, and biomaterials, this book is ideally designed for engineers, industrial chemists, material scientists, researchers, engineers, academicians, practitioners, and students seeking current research on the technological advancements in corrosion protection in various professional scopes.
Book Synopsis Materials Handbook by : François Cardarelli
Download or read book Materials Handbook written by François Cardarelli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-09 with total page 2302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The unique and practical Materials Handbook (third edition) provides quick and easy access to the physical and chemical properties of very many classes of materials. Its coverage has been expanded to include whole new families of materials such as minor metals, ferroalloys, nuclear materials, food, natural oils, fats, resins, and waxes. Many of the existing families—notably the metals, gases, liquids, minerals, rocks, soils, polymers, and fuels—are broadened and refined with new material and up-to-date information. Several of the larger tables of data are expanded and new ones added. Particular emphasis is placed on the properties of common industrial materials in each class. After a chapter introducing some general properties of materials, each of twenty-four classes of materials receives attention in its own chapter. The health and safety issues connected with the use and handling of industrial materials are included. Detailed appendices provide additional information on subjects as diverse as crystallography, spectroscopy, thermochemical data, analytical chemistry, corrosion resistance, and economic data for industrial and hazardous materials. Specific further reading sections and a general bibliography round out this comprehensive guide. The index and tabular format of the book makes light work of extracting what the reader needs to know from the wealth of factual information within these covers. Dr. François Cardarelli has spent many years compiling and editing materials data. His professional expertise and experience combine to make this handbook an indispensable reference tool for scientists and engineers working in numerous fields ranging from chemical to nuclear engineering. Particular emphasis is placed on the properties of common industrial materials in each class. After a chapter introducing some general properties of materials, materials are classified as follows. ferrous metals and their alloys; ferroalloys; common nonferrous metals; less common metals; minor metals; semiconductors and superconductors; magnetic materials; insulators and dielectrics; miscellaneous electrical materials; ceramics, refractories and glasses; polymers and elastomers; minerals, ores and gemstones; rocks and meteorites; soils and fertilizers; construction materials; timbers and woods; fuels, propellants and explosives; composite materials; gases; liquids; food, oils, resin and waxes; nuclear materials. food materials
