Download or read book Finding a Place written by Kris Rampersad and published by Ian Randle Publishers. This book was released on 2002 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Kris Rampersad's book takes an intimate look at the blossoming of Trinidad's literary consciousness. Through the eyes and the words of the writers, she maps their contribution to Indo Trinidadian literature from those evolutionary years in 1850, to it flowering in the 1950s. It also represents a close look at the exciting oral culture of these people as depicted by their music, dance and storytelling, and examines the biographies of the main figures who contributed to social, cultural, economic and political development throughout this period. While the main focus of the work is on language and literary development, other aspects of Trinidad's development are also explored - cross-culturation, politics, race relations, social mobility and women's issues - in relation to their influence and impact on the writings. Further, the raw material of Finding A Place (12 little-known and rare publications between 1850 and 1950) introduces a new set of data through which the evolution of Trinidad and Tobago can be examined by others. Book Synopsis Global Dictionary of Theology by : William A. Dyrness
Download or read book Global Dictionary of Theology written by William A. Dyrness and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2009-10-25 with total page 1026 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theological dictionaries are foundational to any theological library. But until now there has been no Global Dictionary of Theology, a theological dictionary that presumes the contribution of the Western tradition but moves beyond it to embrace and explore a full range of global expressions of theology. The Global Dictionary of Theology is inspired by the shift of the center of Christianity from the West to the Global South. But it also reflects the increase in two-way traffic between these two sectors as well as the global awareness that has permeated popular culture to an unprecedented degree. The editorial perspective of the Global Dictionary of Theology is an ecumenical evangelicalism that is receptive to discovering new facets of truth through listening and conversation on a global scale. Thus a distinctive feature of the Global Dictionary of Theology is its conversational approach. Contributors have been called on to write in the spirit of engaging in a larger theological conversation in which alternative views are expected and invited. William A. Dyrness, Veli-Matti Kärkkäinen, Juan F. Martinez and Simon Chan edit approximately 250 articles written by over 100 contributors representing the global spectrum of theological perspectives. Pastors, theological teachers, theological students and lay Christian leaders will all find the Global Dictionary of Theology to be a resource that unfolds new dimensions and reveals new panoramas of theological perspective and inquiry. Here is a new launching point for doing theology in today's global context.
Book Synopsis Cell Separation by : Thomas G. Pretlow
Download or read book Cell Separation written by Thomas G. Pretlow and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cell Separation: Methods and Selected Applications, Volume 5 provides information pertinent to the design and application of methods for the separation of cells. This book covers a variety of topics, including endothelial cells, separation of lymphoid cells, separation of T lymphocytes, and methods of epidermal separation. Organized into 16 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the role of endothelium in wound healing and neovascularization as well as in the pathogenesis of many disease states. This text then examines a method of cell separation, isokinetic sedimentation, which can be employed to concentrate and purify one type of cell from a single-cell suspension of disaggregated tissues or organs. Other chapters consider the nature of tumor cell heterogeneity. This book discusses as well the cellular properties essential in malignant tumor behavior. The final chapter deals with transplantable pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma. This book is a valuable resource for cell biologists, experimental oncologists, hematologists, immunologists, and endocrinologists.

Book Synopsis Ummah Yet Proletariat by : Lin Hongxuan
Download or read book Ummah Yet Proletariat written by Lin Hongxuan and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This monograph explores the relationship between Islam and Marxism in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI) and Indonesia from the publication of the first Communist periodical in 1915 to the beginning of the anti-communist massacres of 1965-66. It explores various permutations of how Muslim identity and Marxist analytical frameworks coexisted in the minds of Indonesian nationalists, as well as how individuals' Islamic faith and ethics shaped their willingness to employ Marxist ideas. Such confluences have long been obscured by state-driven narratives which demonize Marxism and posit the mutual exclusivity of Islam and Marxism. By examining Indonesian-language print culture, including newspapers, books, pamphlets, memoirs, letters, novels, plays, and poetry, I show how deeply embedded confluences of Islam and Marxism were in the Indonesian nationalist project, even at its highest levels. Ultimately, I argue that these confluences were the product of Indonesian participation in broader networks of intellectual exchange across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, and that such confluences were the result of Indonesians "translating" the world to Indonesia, a project of creative adaptation ambitious in both its scope and depth"--
