Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry. Back in 1994, when David Rowbotham released his New and Selected Poems, 1945-1993, a flurry of reviews appeared in the major newspapers and magazines remarking on how richly Rowbotham deserved more recognition as one of Australia's major poets of the past century. But if he is the most major of Australia's neglected poets, what is remarkable is that Rowbotham has continued to write sixty years on, in a confident and lucid voice that transcends single continents and cultures. POEMS FOR AMERICA is certain to earn Rowbotham that elusive literary Oscar.

Download or read book Derek Walcott’s Poetry Deconstructed, Its Political and Sociological Discourse Revealed From “In A Green Night” to “The Fortunate Traveler” A Product of Hallucinatory Whiteness written by Daurius Figueira and published by AHTLE FIGUEIRA. This book was released on 2020-07-18 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a deconstruction of the published books of poetry of Derek Walcott from 1961 to 1981 to unearth, expose and analyze the discourse and worldview of Walcott of miscegenated being, the Caribbean dystopia and the existential condition of the African and Indian Diasporas in the Caribbean dystopia. Walcott segregates himself from the Caribbean dystopia as he excoriates the African and Indian Diasporas blaming them for constructing the dystopia, they are trapped in. Walcott exempts white supremacist colonial and neo-colonial imperial power relations which condemns us to dependency and underdevelopment at the level of the idea. Which he must do for Walcott insists that what separates him from the Dystopia and enables his freedom from the dystopia, his flight to the North Atlantic is his white grandfather's legacy bequeathed to him by his miscegenated father. At the level of his genome Walcott is special, exceptional in the realm of the Dystopia compelled to prove and affirm this state of being in the North Atlantic. Walcott then frames his poetry on the foundation of the binary, Manichean duality of white North Atlantic discourse. I had a white grandfather and father which makes this deconstruction a personal conversation between two conflicting discourses of miscegenated being and our place in the world.

Book excerpt: "The Trojan War and Its Aftermath: Four Epic Poems Retold" by David Bruce is a captivating retelling of the timeless tales surrounding the legendary conflict of the Trojan War and its far-reaching consequences. Drawing from ancient sources such as Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey," as well as other classical works, Bruce weaves together a rich tapestry of myths, heroes, and gods to create a compelling narrative that brings the ancient world to life. Through vivid prose and meticulous attention to detail, Bruce guides readers through the epic events of the Trojan War, from the famed duel between Achilles and Hector to the cunning stratagems of Odysseus and the tragic fall of Troy. Along the way, he introduces readers to a host of unforgettable characters, from the valorous warriors to the cunning goddesses, each with their own motivations and desires. But Bruce's narrative doesn't end with the fall of Troy; instead, he explores the aftermath of the war and its impact on the heroes and heroines who survived. From the trials of Odysseus as he struggles to find his way home to the tragic fate of the Trojan women, Bruce delves deep into the human drama and emotional resonance of these timeless stories, revealing the enduring power of myth to illuminate the human condition.
