Book Synopsis Capacity Building in Technology Transfer by : Massimiliano Granieri
Download or read book Capacity Building in Technology Transfer written by Massimiliano Granieri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-12 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells the story of capacity building in Europe with respect to technology transfer offices and organizations (TTOs). The traditional underdevelopment of technology markets in Europe has often been explained in terms of lack of capacity and skills among technology transfer professionals, both as individuals and as part of TTOs. Because of the severe consequences for economic development and industrial growth, this situation has been repeatedly addressed by policy makers, until the European Commission, within the framework of Horizon 2020, decided to initiate a pan-European pilot project on capacity building. This book builds on the experience gained through that project and tries to reconnect it with current scholarly works on technology management by focusing on the new methodology developed. In addition, the authors present a series of case studies that may be used as a benchmark and as examples that will help high-potential TTOs to improve their performance. Both practitioners and researchers will benefit from the holistic perspective of the book, which goes beyond the traditional approach and attempts to reconcile the theory and practice of organizing for technology transfer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Imagine the pride of earning the Nobel Prize for warning that CFCs were destroying the ozone layer. Then imagine that citizens, policymakers, and business executives heeded the warning and transformed markets to protect the earth. This book is the story of why we can all be optimistic about the future if we are willing to be brave and dedicated world citizens.' MARIO MOLINA, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Professor, University of California This book tells how the Montreal Protocol, the most successful global environmental agreement so far, stimulated the development and worldwide transfer of technologies to protect the ozone layer.Technology transfer is the crux of the 230 international environmental treaties and is essential to fighting climate change. While debate rages about obstacles to technology transfer, until now there has been no comprehensive assessment of what actually works to remove the obstacles. The authors, leaders in the field, assess over 1000 technology transfer projects funded under the Montreal Protocol‘s Multilateral Fund and the Global Environment Facility, and identify lessons that can be applied to technology transfer for climate change.
Book Synopsis Technology Transfer and Innovation for Low-Carbon Development by : Miria Pigato
Download or read book Technology Transfer and Innovation for Low-Carbon Development written by Miria Pigato and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2020-04-09 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technological revolutions have increased the world’s wealth unevenly and in ways that have accelerated climate change. This report argues that achieving The Paris Agreement’s objectives would require a massive transfer of existing and commercially proven low-carbon technologies (LCT) from high-income to developing countries where the bulk of future emissions is expected to occur. This mass deployment is not only a necessity but also an opportunity: Policies to deploy LCT can help countries achieve economic and other development objectives, like improving human health, in addition to reducing greenhouse gases (GHGs). Additionally, LCT deployment offers an opportunity for countries with sufficient capabilities to benefit from participation in global value chains and produce and export LCTs. Finally, the report calls for a greater international involvement in supporting the poorest countries, which have the least access to LCT and finance and the most underdeveloped physical, technological, and institutional capabilities that are essential to benefit from technology.

Book Synopsis Water Related Education, Training and Technology Transfer by : Andre van der Beken
Download or read book Water Related Education, Training and Technology Transfer written by Andre van der Beken and published by EOLSS Publications. This book was released on 2009-07-23 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water Related Education, Training and Technology Transfer is a component of Encyclopedia of Water Sciences, Engineering and Technology Resources in the global Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), which is an integrated compendium of twenty one Encyclopedias. Learning processes offer knowledge, skills, and competencies to the individual through different methods of education and training. The learning society and the concept of lifelong learning form the basis for the so-called “knowledge-based” economy. Since water resources development and management are an essential part of this economy, education, training, and transfer of technology for water resources should be seen as important aspects of societal policies for a sustainable future. This book starts with a little history, and introduces several issues related to water resources in the learning environment. What does the water profession expect from education? We must consider the methods and tools used the need to match demand and supply, and quality assessment of education and training. Transfer of technology to close the technology gap between countries can only be effective if an enabling learning environment exists. Capacity building must ensure that this environment is sustainable. This volume is aimed at the following five major target audiences: University and College students Educators, Professional practitioners, Research personnel and Policy analysts, managers, and decision makers and NGOs.
