Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Boomer? Good question! Boomer is not quite your average Aussie Lariken; he is somebody that you would least expect to have the qualifications that he has and, in a lot of cases, you would wish he didn’t have. So to burn a mental picture into your brain that you will never forget so that you can understand Boomer a little easier, imagine a shaved gorilla with his knuckles dragging along the ground and a wide toothless grin, the occasional drop of saliva dangling from the side of his mouth, broad shoulders, two axe handles across, and a massive scar on the back of his head as if he’d been whacked in the back of the head with an axe. Now give him all the qualifications he shouldn’t really have—e.g. military, explosives, martial arts, security, sniper, bodyguard, weapons specialist, survivalist, scout leader, chef (knives), tree logger (chainsaws), brickie (cement shoes, and bitten, stung, poisoned, and attacked by just about every lethal thing on the planet!

Book excerpt: NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING CLAIRE DANES, JAMES MARSDEN AND SARAH BOLGER As Cool As I Am "... packs an emotional punch that sneaks up from behind... Fromm creates an engrossing coming-of-age saga that cuts to the essence and shines."(Seattle Times). As a teenager pretty much left to raise herself, Lucy Diamond is a narrator with a radiant yet guarded heart. As she races at breakneck pace toward womanhood, everything is at stake for her, producing an urgency and dread that she holds at bay with humor and grace. But while Lucy charges ahead, her mother's youth is fading. Simultaneously embracing and resisting their similarities, Pete Fromm reveals both women's emotional vulnerabilities and their deep mutual need. Conveyed through dialogue that is both laugh-aloud-funny and true, Lucy stands out in contemporary literature for her large heart and inimitable grit. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you bought this book thinking you would read a series of humorous vignettes, guess again. This book is about Life, real life, not those fairy tales our mothers share with us as we grow up. Mommy wants her children happy and visited by Mickey Mouse, not those caped in evil. However, boys and girls, Mickey Mouse only lives in Disney, and we must be prepared for the Big Bad Wolf, who lives in the real world, and all of his huffing and puffing. Hopefully after reading this you will fortify your house with Craig Brands advice and hard learned experiences. This book is about survival in todays world. A rule book, so to speak, about living, and a must read. Craig Brand provides his audience with not only a strong dose of reality, but offers positive solutions to surviving the reality we must all endure; called Life. You will read this book from cover to cover and then do it again; hopefully re-purchasing the book as you re-read it. Yeah, Yeah, but thats Life! Craig Brand doesnt hold back his thoughts, comments and concerns regarding our survival while living, existing and just trying to get by in this world we were all born into. He doesnt discriminate as he drags the good, the bad and the ugly through the mud. Have you wondered why bad things are happening to you; well, read this book and not only will you understand why, but know what to do about it and be assured that survival is not just limited to you. Staying thoroughly entertained, the reader shall gain a new perspective on Life, and our reason to keep on living or not! This book captures what everyone thinks, truly knows, but doesnt want to say. It is brilliantly put together in a way that lifes realities make you want to cry or laugh or both. M. Norman Pardo, Managing Member of TCI Films, LLC

Book excerpt: Superman was first published in 1938, so how come he still looks to be about 25 years old in the stories set in 2022? Ditto for all the other superheroes from The Golden Age Of Comics still being published today. Why isn't Captain America collecting Social Security? Why isn't The Flash using a walker to get around? Why isn't The Human Torch complaining about his hip replacement? Why isn't Wonder Woman deciding what Medicare plan she wants? Why isn't Batman retired? Why isn't Plastic Man stretching his dollars to afford his nursing home bills? Why isn't The Green Lantern The Green Flashlight by now? Er, never mind about that last question. But the answer to the other ones is money. As long as the corporate comics companies can milk money out of them, these characters will be kept forever young, aside from the occasional "imaginary story" or whatnot. But in stunting their growth, only half the story gets told. What does happen when a superhero ages with the times and eventually becomes elderly? What's so super about getting old? Well, it probably beats being dead. Just ask Bucky. Er, never mind. Anyway, leave it to one of America's worstselling authors who hasn't given up yet to venture in and tell the rest of the superhero story. In the case of Harry Fox, the superhero known as Fast Guy, he finds he can't outrace time or death. His worst foe though is an existential crisis brought on by saving the world numerous times only to have it result in a shallow, selfish place populated mainly by morons and jerks, and sometimes even moronic jerks and jerky morons. Living alone in his old ranch house in a town filled with new McMansions, he is wondering what to do with himself and worrying about what will happen to the world when he is gone. And the reader is left wondering if Harry is really a superhero. Although he claims he's saved the world more times than he can remember from nuclear annihilation, he delights in pooping on world leaders, which sounds more like a supervillain, or, at the very least, a person with issues than it does a superhero. Or maybe he's just a lonely old man with a very active imagination. In a world less than super, can a senior citizen still be a hero? Find out in Fast Guy Slows Down!

Book excerpt: Since the invention of the telescope 400 years ago, astronomers have rapidly discovered countless celestial objects. But how does one make sense of it all? Astronomer and former NASA Chief Historian Steven J. Dick brings order to this menagerie by defining 82 classes of astronomical objects, which he places in a beginner-friendly system known as "Astronomy’s Three Kingdoms.” Rather than concentrating on technicalities, this system focuses on the history of each object, the nature of its discovery, and our current knowledge about it. The ensuing book can therefore be read on at least two levels. On one level, it is an illustrated guide to various types of astronomical wonders. On another level, it is considerably more: the first comprehensive classification system to cover all celestial objects in a consistent manner. Accompanying each spread are spectacular historical and modern images. The result is a pedagogical tour-de-force, whereby readers can easily master astronomy’s three realms of planets, stars, and galaxies.
