Some of these men gave their lives in service for Christ and others lost their health serving in very harsh environments. Their sacrifice was for the glory of God, for the spreading of the gospel of salvation through Christ alone and for the purpose of ministering to men many of whom they knew would not outlive the war. Perhaps the following could be considered as a motto of this band of brothers-"I think it worth a lifetime of hardship to prepare, under God, one of our dear defenders thus to die," Chaplain J. Wm.
