Book Synopsis Biblioteca Vasconcelos by : Miquel Adrià
Download or read book Biblioteca Vasconcelos written by Miquel Adrià and published by Editorial Rm. This book was released on 2007 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present edition graphically documents the design, construction and installationof the mega main public library Biblioteca de México "José Vasconcelos" locatedin Mexico City. In 2001 a transformation project of the Biblioteca de México proposal had three main actions: the restoration of the La Ciudadela building, the construction of a more modern and larger building and the establishment of an interchange network between the public libraries in México, where the new library was to be the central node of a national network. The new library that includes surrounding botanical garden was a project by architect Alberto Kalach and was constructed adjacent to the Buenavista train station in the historical downtown area. A final section follows the artistic and technical process of artist Gabriel Orozco and his work team for the construction of the project Mátrix Móvil (Mobile Matrix), a suspended installation of graphite painting on a salvaged whale skeleton done in 2006 that hangs in the central area of the library.

Book Synopsis Serviceability Limit State of Concrete Structures by : FIB – International Federation for Structural Concrete
Download or read book Serviceability Limit State of Concrete Structures written by FIB – International Federation for Structural Concrete and published by FIB - International Federation for Structural Concrete. This book was released on 2019-09-01 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Serviceability limit states are essential for appropriate function and durability of concrete structures. The attention is paid especially to the stress limitation, crack width analysis and deflection analysis. The document provides supplementary information to the fib Model Code 2010 (MC2010), where a limited space did not allow for a detailed description of individual procedures. The principles used in MC2010 in chapter 7.6 are explained in detail within this document. The stress analysis is focused on stresses in concrete and steel including the stress redistribution due to the long-term load and cracking of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete elements. Crack width analysis explains the mechanism of cracking under mechanical loading and due to deformation restraint. Cracks in prestressed concrete elements are also discussed. Deflection analyses with different levels of accuracy are described including the shear effects. Examples illustrate the practical application of rules defined in the MC2010 of individual serviceability limit states. Simplified and more general methods are used. An important part of the bulletin shows the development and extension of the serviceability limit states after publishing of the MC2010 and alternative approaches. Special attention is paid to deflections of prestressed concrete beams, shear effects on deflection, slenderness limits and influence of the concrete cover. The final part deals with an application of numerical simulations.

Book Synopsis Multiple Regression and Beyond by : Timothy Z. Keith
Download or read book Multiple Regression and Beyond written by Timothy Z. Keith and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-01-14 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Companion Website materials: https://tzkeith.com/ Multiple Regression and Beyond offers a conceptually-oriented introduction to multiple regression (MR) analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM), along with analyses that flow naturally from those methods. By focusing on the concepts and purposes of MR and related methods, rather than the derivation and calculation of formulae, this book introduces material to students more clearly, and in a less threatening way. In addition to illuminating content necessary for coursework, the accessibility of this approach means students are more likely to be able to conduct research using MR or SEM--and more likely to use the methods wisely. This book: • Covers both MR and SEM, while explaining their relevance to one another • Includes path analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and latent growth modeling • Makes extensive use of real-world research examples in the chapters and in the end-of-chapter exercises • Extensive use of figures and tables providing examples and illustrating key concepts and techniques New to this edition: • New chapter on mediation, moderation, and common cause • New chapter on the analysis of interactions with latent variables and multilevel SEM • Expanded coverage of advanced SEM techniques in chapters 18 through 22 • International case studies and examples • Updated instructor and student online resources
Book Synopsis INTRODUCTION TO FINITE ELEMENT METHOD by : Ramón Álvarez Cabal
Download or read book INTRODUCTION TO FINITE ELEMENT METHOD written by Ramón Álvarez Cabal and published by Editorial UNED. This book was released on 2014-04-24 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is designed for those who already know structural calculation. It starts with the simple exercise of reformulating the direct stiffness method using matrices. The aim is to allow the student to understand the enormous power and generality of the weak formulation for the approximation of strut structure problems by using a formulation which is easy to understand. The correspondence of results of the initial classical formulation with those of the FEM when using linear shape functions and Hermite polynomials allows us to tackle the general formulation of the fundamental concepts of the method more easily. Once the method and the details of its general formulation are understood (although only through its application in a specific structural type), the FEM is presented in a general way, as a procedure for obtaining approximated solutions for partial differential equations. The approaches to field problems and to linear elasticity problems are presented as examples. The method has been now clearly presented and therefore, the selection of the type of element, with the generation of interpolation functions of higher degree and their systematization in element families, can be studied in greater depth. This part finishes with the introduction of the idea of isoparametric transformation that, together with numerical integration, explains the stage of development reached by the method. Finally, the subject relative to plates is dealt with, looking at their specific use as structural elements, and trying to show the difficulty of satisfying the continuity between elements in thin plates, and the shear locking solution in thick plates amongst other things
Book Synopsis BASIS OF THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD by : BENITO MUÑOZ, Juan José
Download or read book BASIS OF THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD written by BENITO MUÑOZ, Juan José and published by Editorial UNED. This book was released on 2023-10-04 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an introduction to the Finite Element Method (FEM) and is primarily aimed at students, engineers and scientists who already know structural calculation. It starts from the matrix reformulation of the direct stiffness method to understand the enormous potential of introducing the idea of the weak formulation for the approximation of strut structure problems. The correspondence of results between the initial classical formulation and that of the FEM when using linear shape functions and Hermite polynomials, makes it possible to approach its general formulation more easily as a procedure to obtain approximate solutions of differential equations in partial derivatives. It is essential now to introduce the idea of element, which allows, from the definition of a reduced number of base functions and through a simple combination process, to approximate its real behavior and, through superposition, that of the structure.
Book Synopsis Achievement of slenderness by : Félix Candela
Download or read book Achievement of slenderness written by Félix Candela and published by Universidad Politecnica de Madrid. This book was released on 2010 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Contemporary architecture by : Miquel Adrià
Download or read book Contemporary architecture written by Miquel Adrià and published by Editorial Gustavo Gili. This book was released on 1996 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
