This book was released on 2010-10-22 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the major challenges for European governments is to solve the dilemma of increasing the security and reducing fraud in international trade, while at the same time reducing the administrative burden for commercial as well as public administration organisations. To address these conflicting demands, the ITAIDE project has developed a large set of innovative IT-related tools and methods that enable companies to be better in control of their business operations. These tools and methods have been integrated in the ITAIDE Information Infrastructure (I3) framework. By using the I3 framework, companies are better positioned to apply for the Trusted Trader status, and enjoy trade facilitation benefits such as simplified customs procedures and fewer inspections of their goods. Hence, the I3 framework can contribute to making global supply chains faster, cheaper, and more secure. The I3 framework has been tested and validated in five real-life Living Labs, spanning four different sectors of industry, and conducted in five different EU countries. National Tax & Customs organizations from various European countries have actively participated in the Living Labs. The United Nations CEFACT group, experts from the World Customs Organization and representatives of key industry associations have also provided valuable feedback and ideas for the Living Labs and the project in general. www.itaide.org

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past few decades, the world economy has undergone radical transformations, in part connected to the expansion of the ‘digital economy’, in part to the growing interconnection via the internet of the world of objects and physical processes. This ‘great transformation’ poses the dilemma on the capitalism’s ability to reconcile economic and social value, keeping together economic well-being, social cohesion and political freedom. The Economy of Collaboration can offer a contribution in this direction but requires courageous policies to mediate the various interests at stake, as well as to rethink and make more sustainable its development, by increasing the benefits not only for businesses but also for workers and consumers. In short, to create shared value. This book refers to a mode of organizing the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services based on cooperative relations. The main reference is to activities linked to the digital economy, since they are the emerging forms of a definitely older phenomenon, but which is expanding on an ever-wider scale thanks to new technologies. These collaborative activities can be regulated differently, along a continuum that ranges from the pole of market exchanges to that of generalized reciprocity, with various intermediate mixed forms.

Furthermore the discussion on innovation is about how to maintain strong economic growth in an era that is increasingly being defined by the globalisation of competition, major financial and demographic challenges. Recently the economy continues to upset the market and recession tempts to cut back on the investments in research and development in the organizations. But even now in spite of crisis and its impacts on the economy seems to be the perfect time to increase firms' innovation efforts. The increasing competition processes and the development of Web 2.0 technologies (soon Web 3.0) are challenging the business to build more interactive relationship between the real-time market participants. The companies must nowadays find out how to achieve a competitive advantage for future. This paper presents the concept of Open Innovation, which can help public and private institutions achieve better performance or business success and at last win the competition with market rivals.
