Vor allem in Sozial- und Pflegeberufen kommt es immer öfter zu Personalausfällen aufgrund von Überforderung und Erschöpfung. In diesen Beruf wird man oft mit schweren Problemlagen konfrontiert, hinzukommen die körperliche und psychische Beanspruchung, sowie Erwartungshaltungen von Patienten und Arbeitgeber. Die Rolle des Helfers kommt häufig zu kurz, obwohl seit den 70er Jahren Veröffentlichungen (z.B. Schmidbauer, ,Hilflose Helfer ) erschienen sind, die sich mit persönlichen und beruflichen Schwierigkeiten von Menschen in helfenden Berufen befassen. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema Burnout und Stress in Pflegeberufen. In Kapitel 1 werden die Begrifflichkeiten ,Burnout und ,Stress genauer vorgestellt. Dieser Abschnitt setzt sich kritisch mit dem Begriff ,Burnout und seiner Entwicklung in den USA und in Deutschland auseinander. Des Weiteren wird der Begriff ,Stress , sowie die Entstehung von Stress und die körperliche Reaktion auf Stress dargestellt. Am Ende dieses Kapitels werden die Zusammenhänge zwischen Burnout und Stress verdeutlicht. Kapitel 2 ,Definition Burnout geht noch einmal genauer auf die Problematik der Definition des Syndroms ein. Hier wird auch die Definition von Burnout im DSM-IV, sowie im ICD-10 beleuchtet. Des Weiteren wird eine Abgrenzung des Burnout-Syndroms zu anderen Stress-Phänomenen vorgenommen. In Kapitel 3 werden verschiedene Erklärungsmodelle und mögliche Ursachen für Burnout vorgestellt. Dabei gehe ich auf die persönlichkeitszentrierten Erklärungsansätze nach Freudenberger und nach Edelwich & Brodsky ein. Des Weiteren werden arbeits- und organisationspsychologische sowie sozialpsychologische Ursachen für Burnout beschrieben. Das 4. Kapitel geht genauer darauf ein welche Aspekte bei der Entstehung von Burnout eine Rolle spielen. Dabei wird das 12-Phasen-Modell nach Freudenberger & North genauer dargestellt. Darüber hinaus wird hier auf verschiedene Persönlichkeitsfaktoren eingegangen, die die Entstehung von Burnout begünstigen. Kapitel 5 beschäftigt sich mit den Symptomen von Burnout. Um die Symptomatik genauer darzustellen, gehe ich hier auch auf die verschiedenen Stadien des Burnoutsyndroms und die dazugehörigen Symptome ein. Es gibt viele Theorien dazu, wie Burnout entsteht und welche Ursachen existieren. Diese Arbeit gibt einen groben Überblick über einige Konzepte und den mutmaßlichen Verlauf des Ausbrennens. Zudem spiegelte die systematische Literaturanalyse den Zusammenhang zwischen dem Arbeitsklima und dem Risiko an Burnout zu erkranken wieder. Für eine empirische Untersuchung wurden vier Pflegepersonen von unterschiedlichen akutgeriatrischen Stationen zum Erleben des jeweiligen Arbeitsklimas und dessen Einflussfaktoren befragt. Im Abgleich der theoretischen und empirischen Auswertung ergaben sich Einflussfaktoren auf das Arbeitsklima, wie beispielsweise die Führungsqualitäten der Stationsleitung, das Verhältnis der einzelnen Teammitglieder untereinander und insbesondere die gegenseitige Unterstützung und die Zusammenarbeit im Team. Diese können das Arbeitsklima positiv wie negativ beeinflussen. Dabei kann das Arbeitsklima als zusätzlicher Be- oder Entlastungsfaktor dienen und einen Burnoutprozess zusätzlich fördern oder mindern. Die Ergebnisse liefern wichtige Erkenntnisse, die aufzeigen, dass eine Präventivarbeit im aufgezeigten stationären Setting sinnvoll ist, um der Zunahme von Burnout-Erkrankungen entgegen zu wirken und somit auch die Kosten im Gesundheitswesen zu senken.

Bei dieser Flut an Informationen ist es schwer, an fachlich korrekte und relevante Auskünfte zu gelangen, da zeitgleich viele - nicht immer seriöse - Anbieter für Prävention und Therapie ihre Dienste anbieten. Trotz der inzwischen durch Studien belegte Einsparung an Kosten, die eine Prävention gegen Burnout erzielen würde, befassen sich nur wenige Unternehmen mit diesem Thema. Auch die Mitarbeiter selbst werden selten aktiv, um sich vor Burnout zu schützen. Burnout wird häufig noch als Schwäche, Versagen oder individuelle Fehlleistung angesehen, obwohl in der Forschung zunehmend akzeptiert wird, dass die Arbeitsbedingungen bei der Entstehung von Burnout eine wichtige Rolle spielen. Deshalb kommt Führungskräften in einem Unternehmen eine entscheidende Rolle zu. Sie sollten als erste Anzeichen bei ihren Mitarbeitern (und auch bei sich selbst) erkennen, und geeignete Maßnahmen ergreifen. Außerdem sind sie für die Arbeitsstruktur im Team zuständig, und können durch eine gut geplante, für alle Mitarbeiter nachvollziehbare Struktur schon Entlastung schaffen. Wichtig für eine erfolgreiche Prävention. Die Belastungen reduzieren und die Entlastung erhöhen. Gerade die Entlastungsfaktoren werden bei den Burnout-Tests meist nicht berücksichtigt, aber auch in den Ratgebern nicht besonders hervorgehoben. Bei der durchgeführten Studie wurde ein Schwerpunkt auf die Relevanz der Ergebnisse gelegt. Zum anderen wurde die Beziehung Belastungs- und Entlastungsfaktoren aufgezeigt. Mitarbeiter mit mehr Entlastungsfaktoren als Belastungsfaktoren hatten ein geringes Burnout-Risiko. Auch dann, wenn die genannte Anzahl an Belastungsfaktoren relativ hoch ist. Allein durch diesen Berechnung kann eine Gefährdung erkannt werden

This edited volume Age-differentiated Work Systems provides a final report on a six-year priority program funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and presents selected research findings of 17 interdisciplinary project teams. The idea is that it will serve both as a reference book and overview of the current state of research in ergonomics, occupational psychology and related disciplines. It provides new models, methods, and procedures for analyzing and designing age-differentiated work systems with the aim of supporting subject matter experts from different areas in their decisions on labor and employment policies. Therefore over 40 laboratory experiments involving 2,000 participants and 50 field studies involving over 25,000 employees were conducted. Resultat visar att lärarstudenters hanterandestrategier innefattar (1) att skjuta fram lärande att hantera känslomässigt påfrestande situationer när de börjar att arbeta samt (2) att acceptera att det inte går att påverka situationer som är känslomässigt påfrestande och då enbart acceptera de förhållanden som skapar känslomässigt utmanade situationer. Andra strategier som studierna har visat innefattade att verka för förändring, vara en del av ett kollektiv eller att förminska ansvar som sätt att hantera känslomässiga utmaningar. Lärarstudenter etablerade gränser som ett sätt att hantera påfrestande situationer i relation till känslomässigt arbetet och i förhållande till olika relationer. De nyblivna lärarna var tvungna att förhålla sig till konflikter. Detta gjorde nyblivna lärare i studien genom att verka för sin autonoma position, genom att engagera sig i samarbete, genom att försöka påverka eller genom att alliera sig med arbetsplatsens värdeförmedling. Dessa strategier verkar vara sammanlänkade med olika konsekvenser, där autonomi och att vara en påverkanskraft i större utsträckning verkar leda till tankar om att byta skola eller att sluta som lärare.
