Ziel der Arbeit ist es, den Zusammenhang zwischen stressauslösenden Faktoren und Burnout näher zu beleuchten, mögliche tätigkeitsbedingte Ursachen des Ausbrennens im Pflegeberuf zu identifizieren und abschließend eine ausgewählte präventive Maßnahme zur Vermeidung des Burnout-Syndroms aufzuzeigen. Dazu werden zunächst die Begriffe Stress und Burnout näher erläutert. Anschließend erfolgt die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Burnout in der Pflege. Dabei wird auf ausgewählte tätigkeitsbedingte Belastungsfaktoren und im Anschluss auf die Supervision als mögliche präventive Maßnahme zur Verhinderung von Stress und Burnout eingegangen. Im Fazit erfolgt eine abschließende Betrachtung des Themas. Erschöpfung, Müdigkeit, Unzufriedenheit und das Gefühl von großer Überforderung sind typische Syndrome eines Burnouts, welches umgangssprachlich auch als "Ausgebrannt-Sein" definiert wird. Die Gesundheitsreformen der vergangenen Jahre sowie der demographische Wandel brachten einige gravierende Veränderungen und Folgen für die Pflegebranche mit sich. Die Auswirkungen jahrelanger Stellenkürzungen in der Pflege sind nunmehr in einem überalternden und reduzierten Personalbestand ersichtlich. Dazu kommt eine geringere Verweildauer der Patienten in Krankenhäusern sowie eine Zunahme von älteren, multimorbiden Patienten. Dies führt folglich zu einer erhöhten Arbeitsbelastung für das übriggebliebene Pflegepersonal und hat oft nachteilige Auswirkungen auf die Patientenversorgung. Der Anspruch, eine qualitativ hochwertige Pflege zu gewährleisten, setzt viele Pflegekräfte unter Druck und führt sie an ihre Grenzen. Die Folge ist eine steigende Zahl an psychischen Erkrankungen in der Pflege, die zu hohen Fehlzeiten führen.
