Introduction Henry’s Lake is a large, high altitude (over 6,000-feet above sea level), Meadow Lake. Henry’s Lake is relatively shallow and at its deepest point is only 28-feet deep at full pond. Henry’s Lake contains many underwater springs and is probably one of Idaho’s most fertile trout lakes. Henry’s Lake has some of the best trout growth-rates of any lake in the world. Henry’s Lake contains Rainbow Trout, Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow X Cutthroat Trout hybrids and Brook Trout. Henry’s Lake is prolific with Scuds, Leaches, Mottled Sculpins (Cottus bairdi), Damsel Flies (Odonata), Early Blue-Winged Olive (Baetis tricaudatus) and Midges (Diptera / Chironomous). Henry’s Lake is 15-miles southwest of West Yellowstone, Montana off Highway 20. It lies in a basin on the southern flanks of the Continental Divide and is the headwaters of the famous Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. Mountains surround Henry’s Lake; to the north is the Madison Range, to the southwest the Centennial Mountains and on a clear day to the southeast one can see the Grand Tetons. Henry’s Lake has only one no-fee boat ramp, Bill Frome public boat ramp; which is located on the west side of Henry’s Lake. The southeast boat ramp is located at the Idaho State Park, which allows camping for a fee. There are two-private boat ramps that charge a fee to launch a boat; located on the north shore is Wild Rose boat ramp and camping and to the northwest is Staley Springs boat ramp and camping.

Book excerpt: A sweeping review of the role of women within the American military from the colonial period to the present day. In America, the achievements, defeats, and glory of war are traditionally ascribed to men. Women, however, have been an integral part of our country's military history from the very beginning. This unprecedented encyclopedia explores the accomplishments and actions of the "fairer sex" in the various conflicts in which the United States has fought. An Encyclopedia of American Women at War: From the Home Front to the Battlefields contains entries on all of the major themes, organizations, wars, and biographies related to the history of women and the American military. The book traces the evolution of their roles—as leaders, spies, soldiers, and nurses—and illustrates women's participation in actions on the ground as well as in making the key decisions of developing conflicts. From the colonial conflicts with European powers to the current War on Terror, coverage is comprehensive, with material organized in an easy-to-use, A–Z, ready-reference format.

Book excerpt: A comprehensive encyclopedia tracing the history of the women's rights movement in the United States from the American Revolution to the present day. Few realize that the origin of the discussion on women's rights emerged out of the anti-slavery movement of the 19th century, and that suffragists were active in the peace and labor movements long after the right to vote was granted. Thus began the confluence of activism in our country, where the rights of women both followed—and led—the social and political discourse in America. Through 4 volumes and more than 800 entries, editor Tiffany K. Wayne, with advising editor Lois Banner, examine the issues, people, and events of women's activism, from the early period of American history to the present time. This comprehensive reference not only traces the historical evolution of the movement, but also covers current issues affecting women, such as reproductive freedom, political participation, pay equity, violence against women, and gay civil rights.
