With a mountain man hot enough to melt a glacier. The frozen Alaskan tundra should be no match for Violet’s determination, but the sheer immensity of the Last Frontier takes her by surprise—as does her attraction to gruff, impossibly handsome Quinn, and the unexpected heat that burns between them during the freezing Alaska nights…

Download or read book On Wings of Air written by Jann Rowland and published by One Good Sonnet Publishing. This book was released on with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reader Feedback: “Eye and Rowland are absolute masters at world creation, as demonstrated in this first novel of what should become a classic fantasy trilogy.” “Though very developed characters and distinct worlds it was easy to read and follow. The Book of Celesta is a beautiful gift in the story development. Unexpected twists kept me intrigued.” “The story is captivating and follows theatrical structures both familiar and fantastical leading to an ending that is exciting, mysterious, and unexpected.” ***** A true tale of high fantasy, On Wings of Air maintains many romantic elements, exploring real-world problems in a fantasy setting which appeals to a wide audience. The prince of the Skychildren is exiled from the sky and enslaved by his enemies on the ground. In such circumstances, how is he to save his kingdom from a madman and the entire world from destruction by a powerful creature created by a goddess? And how could love for the princess of the Groundbreathers possibly enter into the picture? If you are a fan of Fantasy, On Wings of Air is for you! ***** “Tierra, I don’t think you quite understand. If I found the Fenik, there would be nothing you—or anyone else here—could do to stop me from leaving. You said that Fenik was ‘a weapon of sorts.’ In fact, the Fenik is the ultimate weapon.” “I should not need to remind you, but it appears that I must. We are Skychildren. We are not barbarians. We do not keep slaves, and we do not attack defenseless women in the streets. We are ruled by honor, not by our emotions. It is true that we have an eons-long dispute with Princess Tierra’s people. But we have no quarrel with her personally. In every way that matters, she is the same as we are.” “Come now, what are you waiting for? Finish me off now, and you shall have your victory. Immolate both of us in your fire, and you shall be free to do as you wish!”

Download or read book Cinematic Fictions written by David Seed and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The phrase 'cinematic fiction' has now been generally accepted into critical discourse, but is usually applied to post-war novels. This book asks a simple question: given their fascination with the new medium of film, did American novelists attempt to apply cinematic methods in their own writings? From its very beginnings the cinema has played a special role in defining American culture. Covering the period from the 1910s up to the Second World War, Cinematic Fictions offers new insights into classics like The Great Gatsby and The Grapes of Wrath discussing major writers' critical writings on film and active participation in film-making. Cinematic Fictions is also careful not to portray 'cinema' as a single or stable entity. Some novelists drew on silent film; others looked to the Russian theorists for inspiration; and yet others turned to continental film-makers rather than to Hollywood. Film itself was constantly evolving during the first decades of the twentieth century and the writers discussed here engaged in a kind of dialogue with the new medium, selectively pursuing strategies of montage, limited point of view and scenic composition towards their different ends. Contrasting a diverse range of cinematic and literary movements, this will be compulsory reading for scholars of American literature and film.
