Book excerpt: Brainwashed is the explosive exposé of the leftist agenda at work in today's colleges, revealed by firebrand Ben Shapiro—syndicated columnist, podcaster, radio show host, and one of today's most exciting conservative voices—who’s been on the front lines of the battle for America's young minds. This book proves once and for all that so-called higher education continues to sink lower and lower into the depths of liberal madness as close-minded professors turn their students into socialists, atheists, race-baiters, and sex-crazed narcissists. In this book, author Ben Shapiro asks three critical questions: Why are universities so biased? Why do students take their professors at face value? What can we do to stop it? In addition to outlining practical solutions as part of a multi-pronged strategy to deal with this problem, Brainwashed encourages students to consider the motives of their professors; pay attention to how professors use facts and editorialize during lectures; and ask questions, encourage debate, and think before buying into a professor’s mindset. Praise for Brainwashed: "Ben Shapiro's writing is smart, informative, and incisive. He is wise beyond his years without losing the refreshing fearlessness of youth." Ann Coulter, bestselling author of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, Slander, and Treason "In Brainwashed, Shapiro tells the truth—that universities are forums of left-liberal indoctrination, where dissent is discouraged and penalized, with more restrictions on free speech rather any other part of American society. Parents who are paying for tuition might want to take note, and see what their hard-earned money is paying for." Michael Barone, U.S. News & World Report and co-author of The Almanac of American Politics "Welcome to P.C. 101. In this trenchant insider's expose, Ben Shapiro bears witness to the modern American campus freak show. You'll get up close and personal with the Marxist loons, moral relativists, multicultural zealots, and American-haters who are corrupting young minds. Brainwashed reveals the ignominious lows to which higher education has sunk. Get deprogrammed. Buy this book!" Michelle Malkin, nationally syndicated columnist and author of Invasion "Sharp thinking, tight writing, crazy-but-true stories: Ben Shapiro sees campus brainwashing and raises a national protest. This is a good book to give both freshmen who need warning and voters/alumni who need to take action." Dr. Marvin Olasky, University of Texas professor and editor-in-chief of World magazine "A worthy successor to God and Man at Yale and Harvard Hates America in exploring the belly of the academic beast." David Horowitz, founder of Students for Academic Freedom and author of Radical Son and Left Illusions "What Animal House did for the toga party, Brainwashed should do for American resistance to campus radicalism." Rusty Humphries, nationally syndicated radio talk show host

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A harrowing account of brainwashing’s pervasive role in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries This gripping book traces the evolution of brainwashing from its beginnings in torture and religious conversion into the age of neuroscience and social media. When Pavlov introduced scientific approaches, his research was enthusiastically supported by Lenin and Stalin, setting the stage for major breakthroughs in tools for social, political, and religious control. Tracing these developments through many of the past century’s major conflagrations, Dimsdale narrates how when World War II erupted, governments secretly raced to develop drugs for interrogation. Brainwashing returned to the spotlight during the Cold War in the hands of the North Koreans and Chinese. In response, a huge Manhattan Project of the Mind was established to study memory obliteration, indoctrination during sleep, and hallucinogens. Cults used the techniques as well. Nobel laureates, university academics, intelligence operatives, criminals, and clerics all populate this shattering and dark story—one that hasn’t yet ended.

Book excerpt: Featuring a wide variety of new, unseen material and serves as a retrospective on Mr. Brainwash's career, thus far, It's a WonderFul World follows his unique and captivating journey as an artist, from filming street artists to becoming a worldwide phenomenon. With personal pieces from Mr. Brainwash's past, it includes never-before-seen photos from Mr. Brainwash's time entrenched in the street art scene. Mr. Brainwash has always been known for the large scale of his work. From his 80,000 square foot Los Angeles solo show in 2011 to a six-story tall Queen Elizabeth II, in her coronation attire, holding a Union Jack spray can, which was installed on the side of the Old Sorting Office in London. This book is no different. It is an exploration into the mind of one of this generation's true art provocateurs. The book is an eclectic mixture of art, photography, and inspiration. A project seven years in the making, this book reflects Mr. Brainwash's style and how he has bridged the gap between this art and his life -- becoming a living embodiment of his words and his art.

Book excerpt: Vivid and disturbing, Brainwash is essential insight into the modern practice of interrogation and torture. With access to formerly classified documentation and interviews from the CIA, U.S. Army, MI5, MI6, and British Intelligence Corps, Dominic Streatfeild traces the evolution of mind control from its origins in the Cold War to the height of today's war on terror. Behind the front lines of every war in the world, prisoners are forced to sit for interrogation: manipulated, coerced, and sometimes tortured--often without ever being touched. Brainwash is a history of the methods intended to destroy and reconstruct the minds of captives, to extract information, convert dissidents, and lead peaceful men to kill and be killed.

Book excerpt: The devastating truth about the effects of wheat, sugar, and carbs on the brain, with a 4-week plan to achieve optimum health. In Grain Brain, renowned neurologist David Perlmutter, MD, exposes a finding that's been buried in the medical literature for far too long: carbs are destroying your brain. Even so-called healthy carbs like whole grains can cause dementia, ADHD, epilepsy, anxiety, chronic headaches, depression, decreased libido, and much more. Groundbreaking and timely, Grain Brain shows that the fate of your brain is not in your genes. It's in the food you eat. The cornerstone of all degenerative conditions, including brain disorders, is inflammation, which can be triggered by carbs, especially containing gluten or high in sugar. Dr. Perlmutter explains what happens when the brain encounters common ingredients in your daily bread and fruit bowls, how statin drugs may be erasing your memory, why a diet high in "good fats" is ideal, and how to spur the growth of new brain cells at any age. Dr. Perlmutter's revolutionary 4-week plan shows you how to keep your brain healthy, vibrant, and sharp while dramatically reducing your risk for debilitating neurological diseases as well as relieving more common, everyday conditions -- without drugs. Easy-to-follow strategies, delicious recipes, and weekly goals help you to put the plan into action. With a blend of anecdotes, cutting-edge research, and accessible, practical advice, Grain Brain teaches you how to take control of your "smart genes," regain wellness, and enjoy lifelong health and vitality.

Book excerpt: It is terrible to be brainwashed. To think that an enemy could forcibly cause me to believe something different from what I now believe. To imagine that same enemy being able to get me to behave in a way contrary to my normal behavior. But even more shocking, if that enemy is successful, I end up not only doing what they want me to do, but I do it with all my heart believing it is the right thing to do. That is the result of a thorough brainwashing. Why can a person be brainwashed in this way? It doesn't make logical sense. But understanding the answer to that question can actually help us discover the secret to being able to change our own lives in a positive, healthy way.Truth be told, this book is not a spy novel nor a book about brainwashing techniques. It is actually a book about building a healthy self-image. But now that I have your attention, let me explain the reason for the title. Note, the title is Brain Washed, not Brainwashed. Yes, a play on words, but a very important play on words. When we make it two words, it can totally change the connotation. The idea that our brain could be washed (cleansed or renewed) is a very intriguing concept. We have all been hurt, lied to, betrayed, misused, and abused, which has left deep scars that fill us with frustration, bitterness, and emotional pain. Not only that, we have all hurt others which plagues us with guilt and regret. These experiences produce negative inner beliefs which damage our self-image and rob us of peace, joy, and fullness of life. They negatively affect our health and wellbeing more than anything else. They can fill us with insecurity, fear, frustration, and shame, causing us to feel unloved, worthless, and unacceptable. What if our brain could be washed in a way that changed these negative beliefs into positive beliefs? You don't think that is possible. Well, if an enemy can change our beliefs in a negative way against our will, why can't we discover how to change our own beliefs in a positive way to transform our self-image? I firmly believe we can, and I am first and foremost speaking from personal experience. My self-image went through a radical transformation in my young adult years, and I came through that period seeing my life changed in wonderful and amazing ways. I went on to earn a Master's Degree in counseling and have been a professional counselor for the past thirty-five years. But the most fascinating aspect of the transformation of my self-image is that the change happened through my relationship with God. Coming to deeply know and understand the amazing love of God is the single greatest factor that can transform the self-image. If you are one of the millions of people who suffer from a low self-image, I believe that your self-image can be transformed in a way that radically changes your life for the better!

Book excerpt: “I am most grateful for two things: that I was born in North Korea, and that I escaped from North Korea.” - Yeonmi Park "One of the most harrowing stories I have ever heard - and one of the most inspiring." - The Bookseller “Park's remarkable and inspiring story shines a light on a country whose inhabitants live in misery beyond comprehension. Park's important memoir showcases the strength of the human spirit and one young woman's incredible determination to never be hungry again.” —Publishers Weekly In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea—and to freedom. Park confronts her past with a startling resilience. In spite of everything, she has never stopped being proud of where she is from, and never stopped striving for a better life. Indeed, today she is a human rights activist working determinedly to bring attention to the oppression taking place in her home country. Park’s testimony is heartbreaking and unimaginable, but never without hope. This is the human spirit at its most indomitable.
