A documentary of Rhonda Knight's story was just filmed by the Discovery Channel and it will air in 3 Countries in the Fall of 2013! Blessed Survivor is a MUST READ! This book is not just an ordinary book. It is an actual account of my surviving attempted murder and rape and as the cover depicts, being stabbed in the eye among other horrific things and it embraces my journey with the incredible challenges I faced that had me wondering if I was going insane or what! So yes it is a "true story" novel that will captivate you but yet it is so much more... It is divinely inspired and written to bring the reader into my reality and into the realm of personal and Spiritual awakening in your own soul. This book is not a book written just for women although a woman can relate to it and it is not written for other survivors only but it is inspiration to know you can make it too with proper direction and help as you follow the road map laid out in it. This book is not just for Christians even though it is definitely the love and grace of God that kept me and I am a Christian which I proudly yet humbly proclaim. You may be a person who doesn't know God or you may not understand a lot about Him but this book will bring you into a place of understanding and of witnessing His mercy and miracles in my life which can certainly joyfully manifest in your life as well. IT IS a book for EVERYONE that has compassion for another human being. It is also written for anyone who has faced any type of challenges in their own life whether on a small or large scale. And yes it is a book written for those who just love to read but don't be surprised if you have a life impacting experience from it. There is a reason you're reading this right now; God has a reason for sharing this part of my life with you. Read this book and if it ultimately blesses you then share it with others; lend it out, give a copy as a gift or tell them where they can purchase a copy of this book for themselves. Thanks and God bless you, sincerely from my heart... Blessed Survivor

Book excerpt: In a world where darkness can seem impenetrable, A Survivor's Secrets emerges as a testament to the indomitable power of the human spirit and the transformative nature of God's love. Just as she emerged from years of childhood physical and sexual abuse, Gina Cavallo found herself ensnared for nearly three years in the clutches of human traffickers, enduring the unspeakable horrors of prostitution. After a harrowing escape, Gina spent the next three decades shackled by fear, shame, and a crushing sense of worthlessness as she concealed her painful past--even from her husband. Her tale is ultimately one of resilience, courage, and eventual liberation. Today, Gina is a prominent speaker, advocate, and mentor for survivors of human trafficking. A Survivor's Secrets will ... increase your understanding of the human trafficking crisis, strengthen your resolve for change, provide insight into the mechanisms used to lure people, and inspire you to advocate for those trapped in bondage. You will discover God's astounding power to free anyone of the grip of fear, shame, and worthlessness that holds so many captive. Witnessing Gina's pathway to recovery becomes a guided tour to inviting God's brilliant light to penetrate even the darkest memories and traumas that we or our loved ones have been enduring.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story is a personal testimony of God's amazing and intimate work in my life. Despite a haunting childhood and struggles in my adult years, God has blessed my journey tremendously. Even though I have been a Christian for most of my days, there were decades that all I could see were the trials. I felt distanced from God, yet, at the same time I knew that He was my only hope. So I blamed myself for the disconnection and my many shortcomings. I tried hard to be a "good Christian" but continually failed, damaging my marriage and maligning my parenting. Counseling had helped some, but turmoil still raged within me. I sank increasingly deeper into depression and anxiety while striving to be everything I thought others expected of me. Yet, all the while God was conscious of my struggles. Even more, He was actively interceding on my behalf. Well before I was conscious of it, God was sustaining me through the turmoil and fortifying me for my biggest challenge to date. When I felt at my weakest, God proved faithful to His promise of comfort and strength. Not only did He carry me, He championed my victory over the hold that darkness once had on my past. In an amazing way that only God could orchestrate, He redeemed my existence and set me free with new found joy and purpose. I now feel His love, His grace, and His power in a way that I never could before. The journey was challenging to say the least, but I wouldn't trade this walk with God for anything. My hope is that those who read my story will find encouragement and leave its pages in awe of the Great Father God, Savior Son, and Empowering Holy Spirit, Who are worthy of all praise.

Book excerpt: In this memoir, Walter Ziffer, a Holocaust survivor born in Czechoslovakia in 1927, recounts his boyhood experiences, the Polish and later German invasions of his hometown, the destruction of his synagogue, his Jewish community’s forced move into a ghetto, and his 1942 deportation and ensuing experiences in eight Nazi concentration and slave labor camps. In 1945, Ziffer returned to his hometown, trained as a mechanic and later emigrated to the US where he converted to Christianity, married, graduated from Vanderbilt University with an engineering degree, worked for General Motors before becoming a Christian minister. He taught and preached in Ohio, France, Washington DC and Belgium. He later returned to Judaism and considers himself a Jewish secular humanist. “The compelling story of an unfolding life carried by an insatiable search for meaning.” — Mahan Siler, retired Baptist minister “In Walter Ziffer’s beautifully written new book, you will learn of Walter’s complex life journey, and you may experience, thanks to his skillfully told story and clearly articulated questions and insights, a sense of his presence, the presence of a great man who finds in his own story lessons important for the rest of us, especially now.” —Richard Chess, Director, The Center for Jewish Studies at UNC Asheville “A powerful and unique addition to the literature of the Holocaust. Walter Ziffer’s memoir not only recounts his own personal resilience and survival of the camps, but also his own unusual spiritual journey in which he both becomes a Christian minister while retaining his quintessential Jewish identity. This is a learned, well-crafted, and fascinating new dimension to this literature.” — Michael Sartisky, President Emeritus, Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities “The Holocaust portion [of this memoir]... is as true and chilling as a parent’s last words. His tale-telling prowess makes as strong a mental impression as it makes a factual one.” — Rob Neufeld, Asheville Citizen-Times

Book excerpt: The Age of Silver advances a "horizontal" method of comparative literature and applies this approach to analyze the multiple emergences of early realism and novelistic modernity in Eastern and Western cultural spheres from the sixteenth through the eighteenth centuries. Naming this era of economic globalization the Age of Silver, Ning Ma emphasizes the bullion flow from South America and Japan to China through international commerce, and argues that the resultant transcontinental monetary and commercial co-evolutions stimulated analogous socioeconomic shifts and emergent novelistic realisms. The main texts addressed within include The Plum in the Golden Vase (China), Don Quixote (Spain), The Life of an Amorous Man (Japan), and Robinson Crusoe (England). These Eastern and Western narratives indicate from their own geographical vantage points commercial expansions' stimulation of social mobility and larger processes of cultural destabilization. Their realist tendencies are underlain with politically critical functions and connote "heteroglossic" national imaginaries. This horizontal argument realigns novelistic modernity with a multipolar global context and reestablishes commensurabilities between Eastern and Western literary histories. The Age of Silver challenges the unilateral equation between globalization and modernity with westernization, and foregrounds a polycentric mode of global early modernity for pluralizing the genealogy of world literature and historical transcultural relations.

Book excerpt: While Elizabeth Wilms was very young, during World War II, her father was a prisoner of war, and her mother was serving as a slave laborer in the Soviet Union. She and her brother were placed in liquidation camps in Yugoslavia. But her family was blessed; they survived to meet again and later immigrated to the United States. In Blessed as a Survivor, she recounts her life story before and after World War II. Six-year-old Elizabeth was an ethnic German (Danube Swabian) living in the former Yugoslavia when, in the autumn of 1944, the victorious Russian army first arrived, followed by Titos communist partisans, who treated them to a horrific reign of terror. In spring of 1945, Elizabeth and her family were expelled from their home and placed in several different detention camps, where they were exposed to sickness, fear, terror, and starvation. They saw death everywhere. She and her brother experienced long years of separation from their parents and grandparents. They narrowly escaped being placed in a Serbian orphanage. Despite her lost childhood and dealing with many hardships that forced her to grow up quickly, she did not dwell on the past but instead moved forward. After arriving in the United States, she attended college and became a teacherthe beginning of a new life. Blessed as a Survivor shares a story of hope and forgiveness that seeks to offer comfort and inspire other people who are struggling and who feel very alone.

Book excerpt: This biographical work explores the events that occurred in the life of English Catholic Jesuit priest Edmund Campion who was martyred by the government of Queen Elizabeth I. The writer aimed to present an accurate history and unknown facts about the priest from his youth to death. While running a secretive ministry in officially Anglican England, Campion was arrested by priest hunters. Condemned of high treason, he was hanged, drawn, and quartered at Tyburn. Pope Paul VI canonized him in 1970 as one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. Campion's feast day is celebrated every 1st of December. Since one cannot separate the life of Campion from the time he lived, this work gives the readers a glance at the latter half of 16th century England.
