Download or read book Aurobindo written by Bidyut Chakrabarty and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-03-30 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book elaborates the politico-ideological viewpoints of Aurobindo, as displayed when he reigned as one of the major nationalist leaders defining Indian nationalism. Bidyut Chakrabarty examines Aurobindo's politico-ideological ideas during the period (1893-1910) when he was an active participant in the 'New Nationalist' or 'Democratic Nationalist' campaign, which started with the bifurcation of the Indian National Congress between the Moderates and Extremists (also known as the Revolutionary Nationalists) in its 1907 annual session, held at Surat. Chapters cover Aurobindo's distinctive ideas of nationalism, which he evolved in collaboration with his colleagues, especially Lal-Bal-Pal (Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bipin Chandra Pal), and how he redefined the practice of nationalism. The book also demonstrates that unlike his predecessors, the Moderates, Aurobindo set out many strategies - including boycott and passive resistance - to execute the distinctive plan he designed to attain his politico-ideological goal. Other topics include the relatively less discussed aspect of Aurobindo's socio-political ideas, namely his unique model of education as an antidote to many of the crippling socio-cultural prejudices, and the importance of Bhagavad Gita in shaping Aurobindo's politico-ideological priorities.
Book Synopsis Hitler And India by : Vaibhav Purandare
Download or read book Hitler And India written by Vaibhav Purandare and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2022-08-18 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hitler's autobiography, Mein Kampf, is a perennial bestseller in India, with even street-side bookstalls prominently displaying stacks of it. The name 'Hitler' -- anathema almost everywhere else in the world -- is tossed about casually in the Indian subcontinent, not infrequently invoked in praise. Many Indians still harbour the notion that the Fuhrer was a friend of the Indian people and had extended wholehearted support to their freedom struggle. To journalist Vaibhav Purandare, this clearly suggested that Indians continued to be largely unaware of the German dictator's views on India, in spite of the fact that they are unambiguously expressed in his own writings. This lacuna spurred him on to delve into the archives -- in Germany, India and elsewhere. The result of Purandare's research is this comprehensive and painstaking portrait and analysis of Hitler's outlook on India and its people, his opinion of their struggle against the British Raj, and his take on Indian history, culture and civilisation. Also within these pages are surprising details of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's entanglement with the Reich, the experience of other Indians living in Nazi Germany, the mission that Hitler sent to the Himalayas in search of 'pure-blood Aryans', and a number of other little-known historical nuggets. Accessible and rich in detail, Hitler and India is the very first examination of what India meant to a figure who, perplexingly, remains quite alive in the country.

Download or read book Curriculum Studies in India written by W. Pinar and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-19 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Curriculum Studies in India examines Indian scholars in dialogue regarding their intellectual life histories and subjective investments in their field. With chapter introductions by William Pinar, scholars explore their intellectual history and present circumstances of curriculum studies in India, emphasized by their own engagement and research. These works demonstrate the rapidity and scale of economic growth today, and how it creates conflict, dislocation, inequality, and "echoes" of a colonial past now present in globalization. Pinar and his contributors conclude that historical (dis)continuities, cultural conflict, economic globalization, and political tension characterize the present circumstances of curriculum studies in India.

Book Synopsis The Lion of Assam by : Dr. Prabir Kumar Bordoloi
Download or read book The Lion of Assam written by Dr. Prabir Kumar Bordoloi and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2020-09-25 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “More than a century ago, Sir Henry Cotton had referred to Assam as a veritable ‘Cinderella’ waiting for her Prince Charming. Angered at such a reference Bordoloi had said, ‘We have not come here as beggars. We just want what is justice and what is perforce our right. Assam with her tea gardens, her oil fields, her coal fields, her mineral resources, her forest resources, have European share-holders sitting comfortably in their homes in England, while the people in Assam are referred to as Cinderellas!” – ‘Karmavir’ Nabin Chandra Bordoloi “Mr Bordoloi was an overzealous and dynamic personality, who essayed a role by virtue of his patriotism and courage which shall always remain exemplary.” - Bhulabhai Desai “In every epoch, India shall have the need for a charismatic and eloquent personality like Nabin Chandra Bordoloi in Assam, breathing the quest of success to freedom!” - Mahatma Gandhi “I belong to a family of loyalists. I gave up my law practice, my western garb and donned khadi, because my heart wanted it. A slave always remains a slave, remember that always. Tagore had given up his very knighthood! Gandhi sought redress from insolent and arrogant rulers. We in Assam chose to have non-violence, non-cooperation and civil disobedience to follow the path of Ahimsa as shown by Gandhiji.” – ‘Karmavir’ Nabin Chandra Bordoloi
