Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This evocative work of nature writing traverses the world’s largest temperate rainforest to uncover the legend of the Sasquatch. Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest is home to trees as tall as skyscrapers and moss as thick as carpet. According to the people who live there, another giant may dwell in these woods. For centuries, locals have reported encounters with the Sasquatch—a species of hairy man-ape that could inhabit this pristine wilderness. Driven by his childhood obsession with the Sasquatch, yet trying to remain objective, journalist John Zada seeks out the people and stories surrounding this enigmatic creature. He speaks with local Indigenous peoples and a Sasquatch-studying scientist. He hikes with a former bear hunter. Soon, he finds himself on quest for something infinitely more complex, cutting across questions of human perception, scientific inquiry, Indigenous traditions, the environment, and the power of the human imagination to believe in—or to outright dismiss—one of nature’s last great mysteries.

Book excerpt: One of America’s most esteemed natural history writers takes to the hills of the Pacific Northwest in search of Bigfoot—and finds the wildness within ourselves. “A unique book in the bigfoot literature . . . that understands what most lifetime bigfooters eventually come to know: that bigfooting is about the journey more than the destination.” —Cliff Barackman, field researcher and star of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot Awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship to investigate the legends of Sasquatch, Yale–trained ecologist Dr. Robert Pyle treks into the unprotected wilderness of the Dark Divide near Mount St. Helens, where he discovers both a giant fossil footprint and recent tracks. On the trail of what he thought was legend, he searches out Indians who tell him of an outcast tribe, the Seeahtiks, who had not fully evolved into humans. A handful of open–minded biologists and anthropologists counter the tabloids Pyle studies, while rogue Forest Service employees and loggers swear of a vast conspiracy to deep–six true stories of unknown, upright hominoid apes among us. He attends Sasquatch Daze, where he meets scientists, hunters, and others who have devoted their lives to the search, only to realize that “these guys don't want to find Bigfoot―they want to be Bigfoot!” Where Bigfoot Walks was the inspiration for the 2020 film The Dark Divide, starring David Cross and Debra Messing. Since the book’s original publication, Pyle’s fresh experiences and findings have been added to his original work through an updated chapter. With an evaluation of recent DNA evidence from Bigfoot hair and scat, the study of speech phonemes in the “Sierra Sounds” purported Bigfoot recordings, an examination of the impact of the wildly popular Animal Planet series Bigfoot Hunters, the reemergence of the famous Bob Gimlin into the Bigfoot community, and more, Walking With Bigfoot keeps every Bigfoot enthusiast’s mind wide open to one of the biggest questions in the land and brings Pyle’s work on the “legend” of Bigfoot into the new century.

Book excerpt: This book concentrates on twenty-three sightings in Alberta and British Columbia. Was it merely an Indian legend told to early explorers, a story characteristic of the native's mythical culture? Or, were the stories of giant hairy man-like apes actual reports of an animal that has managed to mystify its researchers and elude western civilization for nearly 300 years. This book concentrates on twenty-three sightings in Alberta and British Columbia.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who or what is Bigfoot? The simplest description is of a huge, hairy, muscular bipedal creature like a big ape and covered in hair ranging from black to brown to red to white depending it seems on the season as well you might see. The average heights reported are six to nine feet tall. Numerous North American peoples have mythologies concerning this mysterious creature and that would be an enormous book in its own right. I will stick to this which is the largest set of books on Bigfoot ever published which due to its size. It is in four volumes in paperback format. Over twelve hundred pages of Bigfoot encounters from all over the North America! All of the sources are in the bibliography and are published or available on very reputable sites on the internet such as BFRO. Many are anonymous but I believe that this can be disregarded. Bigfoot is still a controversial subject. You might notice that some of your favorite reports of Bigfoot might be missing. I know that your Grandma saw something in the local lake or woods or sky but she never did mention when and sometimes even where so Grandma's sighting will not be included. This also applies to plenty of other sightings. No dates so no entry. Even a year is enough and the name of the locality. Neither of these is a no show. But there are thousands more so find out about what might have or still might be lurking in your neighborhood. This is not your normal road map as we visit all over the continent. Happy travelling! You will be amazed as to what you will find in your state or even your neighborhood! Not all states start at 1800 either but I will try and start with datable and generally findable events. Some have plenty of sightings, some have very few and a lot of places that you thought had none actually had quite a few. I have seen various paranormal research organizations on the internet disappearing without trace and all of their accumulated data and knowledge with them. That is why I like books. Even after the last website crashes there might well be a lone paperback sitting in a thrift shop, safe with its repository of knowledge. Is Bigfoot rare? This book says NO! You be the judge. Read firsthand accounts in their own words, and spelling, as well as second person and third person accounts from many sources both in printed format as well as from respectable Websites to my understanding. This may seem disjointed at first but it shows the emotions and reactions of the observer much better than a long dry list of third hand reports. So the reports will be a mixture of first person, second person and third person as well as historic. Many of the reports are also in the witness's own written words as well including spelling and sentence structure. I prefer the authenticity of the reports as I am reporting their words, not mine. Editing is for tidying up purposes only. Sometimes the spelling is amazing but the report itself is still true to form.

Sasquatch. Skunk Ape. He’s everywhere. The most well-known cryptid in American history, Bigfoot is as feared as he is loved. The subject of thousands of stories, this creature has been pegged as a monster terrorizing the woods, a supernatural entity stealthily living among us with an otherworldly agenda, or simply an animal trying to live a life of seclusion. With various theories and beliefs abounding, research and discussion have become a hobby for many, and even an occupation for some. In The Legend of Bigfoot: Leaving His Mark on the World, T. S. Mart and Mel Cabre reveal the myths, personal stories, and pop culture surrounding the legendary icon. Featuring more than 80 images recreating the Bigfoot’s appearance from firsthand accounts and folktales, The Legend of Bigfoot showcases the many faces of the creature. Included are the Boston Bahumagosh, which is said to weigh up to 400 pounds, stand up to 10 feet tall, and terrorize the Boston area; the Honey Island Swamp Monster?also known as the Louisiana Wookie?who roams the Louisiana swamps with yellow or red eyes; and the Wendigo, placed between 7 and 15 feet tall with long, yellow fangs and yellow-tinted skin. Half phantom, half beast, the Wendigo lives in the forest and dates back to the earliest Native American legends. “This book will keep the mystery and fun of Bigfoot alive and leave readers wondering, “Maybe?” —Laura Krantz, host of the Wild Thing podcast

Book excerpt: The Historical Bigfoot covers sightings of Wild Men, Gorillas, Yahoos, and What-Is-It's, from the early 1800s to the 1940s. Before the term "Bigfoot" was coined to signify an unknown species of North American primate, sightings of towering bipedal apes were reported throughout the continent, but called a variety of names. This book compiles and sorts the most significant sightings, but also provides a look at hoaxes, misidentifications, and the influential perspective of newspaper editors as they dealt with reports of a strange hairy manlike ape.
