Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles for the Christian Life- Bible Study Edition is a wonderful, practical and valuable resource for everyone who wants to study God's Word! Dr. Gullberg is a devoted student of the Bible, having gleaned much wisdom from his daily personal study of God's Word over many decades. Why write a book like this? Quite simple. To educate the Christian with a "bottom line" format. Hosea 4:6 says, "My people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge." In Colossians 1:10, Paul prayed that the Colossians would "live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, growing in knowledge of the Lord, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that they would have great endurance and patience..." These two verses, as examples, tell it like it is! Knowledge is the key ingredient to wisdom. This book is meant for deep personal or group Bible study and should be excellent for discussion of practical topics. Though provoking questions are in each section.Part 1 of this book is to simply implement the verses present in the Scripture to direct us on important Christian subjects. It is more than a concordance, which one can find at the end of most any Bible. What one will find in PART 1 are the steering points of the wisdom from the Bible. The topics in PART 1 are the "nuts and bolts" of Christianity. My goal was to keep this book to a "bottom line" level of understanding. Part 2 looks at what is going on in the rest of the world of non-Christendom. In day to day living, I find that most Christians are at best vaguely familiar regarding where other people are coming from in their belief systems. 85% of the people in the world are following other religions. This knowledge should be an impetus for us to not only take a stronger stance on our Christian roots but also be more active in our outreach to the lost. The lost are literally all over the place! They are in India, but also in your neighborhood.

The Nuts & Bolts of Christian Education is designed to answer the most frequently asked questions by new as well as veteran teachers and leaders. Even though most churches provide teacher and leader training at least once a year, generally these one- or two-day sessions are unable to answer every question that arises during the year. The Nuts & Bolts of Christian Education is a practical guidebook that leads new and experienced teachers through the challenging, and sometimes confounding, landscape of the education ministry of a congregation. This is not a collection of lesson plans--it is a chock-full survey of nearly every aspect of Christian education one could imagine. DOING Christian Education starts here.

Book excerpt: The account of Joseph that is found in Genesis 37-50 is one of the most well-known stories in the Bible. Its classic rags-to-riches plot explores themes that have intrigued people throughout history: murder, betrayal, sibling rivalry, greed, natural disaster, and mistaken identity. In Inquiring of Joseph, John Kaltner shows there are two ways to tell this story, and both are worth reading. Inquiring of Joseph puts the biblical Joseph in conversation with his Qur'anic self. The Islamic text is a clear parallel to the biblical story in the events of Joseph's life, but there are some important differences between them that result in two distinct versions of the tale. This interface allows for a new understanding of the familiar biblical tradition as aspects that are often missed become more prominent and puzzling elements are seen in a new light. Chapters are "Introduction," "Beginnings: Joseph and his Family (Genesis 37; Qur'an 12:1-20 )," "The Narrators and Characters: Joseph and Potiphar's Wife (Genesis 39:1-20; Qur'an 12:21-34;)," "Events: Joseph and the Prisoners (Genesis 39:21-40:23; Qur'an 12:35-42)," "Repetition: Joseph and Pharaoh (Genesis 41:1-45; Qur'an 12:43-57)," "Gaps: Joseph and His Brother (Genesis 42:1-44:17; Qur'an 12:58-86)," and "Endings: Joseph and His Family (Genesis 44:18-50:21; Qur'an 12:87-101)." Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Church is church, right? Well, not so much, as any Baptist teen will find when visiting a friend's Episcopal church, or any Lutheran visitor to a Pentecostal service will discover. So what's the difference? Why are there any differences at all? Though churches are as individual as the members they serve, Katie Meier clears up some of the confusion regarding the basic Christian denominations. Written for everyday teens (rather than, say, theology majors) this guide clearly spells out the unique qualities of each sect, while at the same time underlines the unifying principles of Christian faith. Practically, it takes the scare out of accompanying a friend to a different church; but even better, and maybe more importantly, it inspires a greater understanding of and love for fellow Christians.
