Book excerpt: It is my hope, that this information can lead you on a path of wellness - we are made of what we eat, think and feel - and, we should eat to increase our strength, preserve our health, and nourish our life. We should think more positively, attentively, and aware of the consequences of negative thoughts contributing to dis-ease, pain, suffering and trauma. And, finally we should learn to FEEL all our emotions - negative and positive - to achieve growth and the potential for an intuitive, connected, and well-deserved future towards the goal of synchronizing our Body, Mind and Spirits. I have all the faith, in the world, that with this knowledge or body of evidence, the reader can completely and convincingly come to the conclusion, beyond a reasonable doubt - that it is our responsibility to feed, clothe and shelter ourselves against F.E.A.R. and society´s beliefs regarding how we should or should not do this. It is "my" truth within these pages, based on my personal and professional experience - it is up to you, whether you digest it (totally or partially), assimilate the information to your personal beliefs, thoughts and ideals, and/or eliminate the information from your data base altogether. The choice is always yours... and always will be... Forever ! CONTACT: [email protected] OR checkout this blog http://organicselfhealing.blogspot.com

Book excerpt: Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) are serious, debilitating conditions that affect millions of people in the United States and around the world. ME/CFS can cause significant impairment and disability. Despite substantial efforts by researchers to better understand ME/CFS, there is no known cause or effective treatment. Diagnosing the disease remains a challenge, and patients often struggle with their illness for years before an identification is made. Some health care providers have been skeptical about the serious physiological - rather than psychological - nature of the illness. Once diagnosed, patients often complain of receiving hostility from their health care provider as well as being subjected to treatment strategies that exacerbate their symptoms. Beyond Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome proposes new diagnostic clinical criteria for ME/CFS and a new term for the illness - systemic exertion intolerance disease(SEID). According to this report, the term myalgic encephalomyelitis does not accurately describe this illness, and the term chronic fatigue syndrome can result in trivialization and stigmatization for patients afflicted with this illness. Beyond Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome stresses that SEID is a medical - not a psychiatric or psychological - illness. This report lists the major symptoms of SEID and recommends a diagnostic process. One of the report's most important conclusions is that a thorough history, physical examination, and targeted work-up are necessary and often sufficient for diagnosis. The new criteria will allow a large percentage of undiagnosed patients to receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate care. Beyond Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome will be a valuable resource to promote the prompt diagnosis of patients with this complex, multisystem, and often devastating disorder; enhance public understanding; and provide a firm foundation for future improvements in diagnosis and treatment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents detailed case reports of unusual diseases with common symptoms, many of which have emerged in the past decade as a result of nature, advances in medical treatment, and increasing recognition of specific underpinnings of human biology and immunology. These rare diseases must now be considered when the mundane diagnoses do not exactly fit the patient’s clinical history or treatment fails. Some of these diseases include: eosinophilic esophagitis, blastocystis hominis infection, and paromyces allergic fungal sinusitis. Chapters provide in depth clinical examples of a wide range of diseases affecting multiple organ systems. Each case is structured by: a vignette of the case, background / salient features of the case, diagnosis, treatment, key points, and questions to aid in critical thinking. Unusual Diseases with Common Symptoms: A Clinical Casebook is of great interest to practicing physicians and as a teaching resource for students and residents who will one day encounter conditions more complex than they initially appear.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis and dissociation have proved to be useful tools to understand the basic functions of the brain and the mind, which therefore have been decomposed to a multitude of ever smaller subsystems and pieces by most scientific approaches. However, the understanding of complex functions such as consciousness will not succeed without a more global consideration of the ways the mind-brain works. This implies that synthesis rather than analysis should be applied to the brain. The present book offers a collection of contributions ranging from sensory and motor cognitive neuroscience to mood management and thought, which all focus on the dissociation between conscious (explicit) and nonconscious (implicit) processing in different cognitive situations. The contributions in this book clearly demonstrate that conscious and nonconscious processes typically interact in complex ways. The central message of this collection of papers is: In order to understand how the brain operates as one integrated whole that generates cognition and behaviour, we need to reassemble the brain and mind and put all the conscious and nonconscious pieces back together again.
