Book excerpt: In den 1950er-Jahren begann Deutschland aufgrund eines Arbeitskräftemangels, der durch ein hohes Wirtschaftswachstum ausgelöst wurde, verstärkt Arbeitskräfte aus dem Ausland anzuwerben. Bis zum Anwerbestopp im Jahr 1973 kamen Menschen aus Italien, Spanien, Griechenland, der Türkei, Marokko, Portugal, Tunesien sowie aus Jugoslawien als sogenannte Gastarbeiter in das Land, um den erhöhten Arbeitskräftebedarf auszugleichen. In diesem Jahr lebten ca. vier Millionen Menschen mit ausländischem Hintergrund in Deutschland. Anfang der 1990er-Jahre verstärkte sich die Immigration durch Kriege, durch Probleme in der Türkei sowie durch Ereignisse wie den „Fall des Eisernen Vorhangs“ oder der „ethnischen Säuberung“ im damaligen Jugoslawien. Dadurch lebten zu Beginn des Jahres 1996 ca. 7,5 Millionen Ausländer in Deutschland. Bis zum Jahr 2008 schwächte sich die Zuwanderung stark ab, nahm seitdem jedoch jedes Jahr stärker zu. Dies ist dem Flüchtlingszustrom geschuldet, der aktuell ein stets präsentes Thema in allen Medien darstellt. Die aktuellen Diskussionen thematisieren die Frage, wie der außerordentlich hohe Flüchtlingszustrom bewältigt werden kann. Hier ist die Politik genauso involviert wie die Wirtschaft und die deutschen Unternehmen: Erst im Jahr 2013 wurden bspw. neue Maßnahmen wie Richtlinien zu den Aufnahmebedingungen von Asylbewerbern, über die Anerkennung von Asyl sowie zu den Asylverfahren und eine Verordnung über die Zuständigkeit für die Aufnahme und Registrierung von Asylbewerbern von europäischen Ländern eingeführt. Diese sollten das Gemeinsame Europäische Asylsystem (GEAS) aus dem Jahr 1999 erweitern. Doch wie genau können die Unternehmen in Deutschland dazu beitragen, den starken Flüchtlingszustrom zu bewältigen? Schließlich war die Wirtschaft auch dazu in der Lage, die beschriebenen Zuwanderungen in der Vergangenheit zu meistern. Eine Antwort darauf könnte die berufliche Integration der Flüchtlinge sein, mit der sich die vorliegende Arbeit an einem konkreten Beispiel der Daimler AG beschäftigt.

Dabei wird sich auf die sozial schwächeren Flüchtlinge mit niedrigem Bildungsniveau bezogen. Auf Basis der Zielsetzung dieser Arbeit lässt sich die folgende Fragestellung ableiten: Wie werden sozial schwächere Flüchtlinge in den deutschen Arbeitsmarkt integriert? Was sind Voraussetzungen für eine erfolgreiche Eingliederung und wo bestehen evtl. Herausforderungen? Diese Leitfragen sollen im Laufe der Seminararbeit beantwortet werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist in fünf Hauptkapitel untergliedert. Im einleitenden ersten Kapitel werden die Ausgangssituation und die Problemstellung in Form einer Einleitung beschrieben und daraus die Zielsetzung und die Leitfrage abgeleitet. In Kapitel zwei werden die Voraussetzungen für die Integration aufgeführt, dabei wird zunächst das Asylverfahren beschrieben und danach der Arbeitsmarktzugang der Flüchtlinge erläutert. Anschließend werden im dritten Kapitel die Herausforderungen der Integration von Flüchtlingen aufgegriffen. Dabei werden die Unterkapitel Sprachkompetenz und Bildungsniveau näher beschrieben. Im vierten Kapitel findet der Theorie-Praxis-Transfer statt. Dazu wird zunächst das Unternehmen Deutsche Bahn vorgestellt und anschließend die Umsetzung der beruflichen Integration von Flüchtlingen durch den Bewerber Check-up in dem Unternehmen erläutert. Im letzten Kapitel erfolgt das Fazit.

So far the domains of German politics and scholarship have not been conflated to probe the central power/knowledge nexus of Said’s argument. Seeking to fill this gap, the diplomatic career and scholarly-literary productions of the centrally placed Friedrich Rosen serve as a focal point to investigate how politics influenced knowledge generated about the “Orient” and charts the roles knowledge played in political decision-making regarding extra-European regions. This is pursued through analyses of Germans in British imperialist contexts, cultures of lowly diplomatic encounters in Middle Eastern cities, Persian poetry in translation, prestigious Orientalist congresses in northern climes, leveraging knowledge in high-stakes diplomatic encounters, and the making of Germany’s Islam policy up to the Great War. Politics drew on bodies of knowledge and could promote or hinder scholarship. Yet, scholars never systemically followed empire in its tracks but sought their own paths to cognition. On their own terms or influenced by “Oriental” savants they aligned with politics or challenged claims to conquest and rule.
