Download or read book Bent Hope written by Tim J Huff and published by Castle Quay Books. This book was released on 2008-03-15 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The winner of 3 book awards as best book in it's category, Bent Hope was born out of Tim Huff’s first twenty years of unique and extensive work among homeless and street-involved youth and adults, in one of North America’s largest urban centres—Toronto, Canada. Bent Hope is a collection of thoughtful narratives birthed beneath crumbling bridges and in the hidden alcoves of darkened alleyways after midnight. These gripping true-life stories surface quietly from unforgiving corridors of fear, hurt and uncertainty—and unexpectedly and supernaturally transform them into fascinating places of intimacy and godly anticipation.
Book Synopsis Hope, Courage & Triumph by : Connie Bent
Download or read book Hope, Courage & Triumph written by Connie Bent and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hope, Courage & Triumph is the story about one young widows journey through adventures and madness. Determination and love were the key elements of her being as she struggled to face the demons of the illness of her husband, Jerry. Tragedy was no stranger to her. No one knew what horrors lay behind the closed doors of her life, yet hope drove her on. One evening, after work, Jerry held her in his arm, confessing his love to her. Suddenly, a glaze covers his eyes, and a look of hatred crosses his face. Looking at her, he began talking weird about things she knew nothing of. He said, Ive heard that before. You know what Im talking about. She couldnt move. The glaze left his face as suddenly as it came, and moving toward her, he said, I love you more than life itself. Hope drove her as she struggled to pull him out of the pits of hell. An earlier marriage between two teenagers is also addressed in Hope, Courage & Triumph. One day, after I said, I love you, he squeezed my hand, opened his eyes, and looked directly at me. There was no more joy, for hope and courage were lost, and there was not triumph.
Download or read book Bent Pages written by Anne Hope and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: : A psychiatrist friend once told me that he could gain a good understanding of how people become the individuals they are merely by having them write down their ten earliest memories. And, if he could then get those same people to write down their top ten most important decisions they have made in their lives, he felt he could gain a keen insight into what decisions they might need to make in the future to change the course of their lives for the better. I set out to examine those very memories and decisions for myself in Bent Pages. From the time I was a child, one of my habits that drove others in my family crazy was to bend the corner of a page down on a book I was reading if it contained information I wanted to remember and look back on. It was easy to tell which books I had read and had been inspired by...there would be many bent corners. This book is a snapshot of the bent corners of pages in my life that have inspired and taught me. They are moments I never want to forget, even if painful. They have made me who I am. And I would not change that for the world! But looking back can be a risk. It can be painful. It can dredge up things that you never wanted to think about again. But change is a decision, and I desperately wanted to change and make decisions wisely, even if it meant examining parts of my history that were painful or blurry. To my delight many memories also brought laughter and a new sense of appreciation for the difficulties we all face when growing up. We start out as children with it being "all about me," and we view our microcosms only through those myopic, child-like eyes. Yet, as we grow and mature, we are often able to view those experiences and the people involved in a whole new light...sometimes even as unexpected blessings. God wired me specifically with certain talents, abilities, and personality traits when he knit me together in my mother's womb. I have purpose. I can make an impact. I long to fulfill my role in his plan for history. I have discovered that I can make a difference, one person at a time, beginning with me. I have learned that God is indeed in control, even when life seems chaotic. I have learned that when I try to take back control of my life from God, I forfeit faith. I have learned that even one person, one decision, one act of obedience can catapult a life of insecurity and despair to ultimate joy, peace, and fulfillment in Christ. Lastly, I have learned that I get to choose how I want to view those events that affected my life. I can choose to be a victim. I can choose to be angry. Or I can choose to be a victor...a person who chooses joy in seeing the gracious hand of God creating a beautiful symphony to share with others. I want to sing Him a love song...my life the melody. At times, this book is emotionally raw and heart-breaking, and at times it will make you laugh out loud...welcome to the adventure!

T. Anderson. Liv Fleming’s father went missing more than two years ago, not long after he claimed to have been abducted by aliens. Liv has long accepted that he’s dead, though that doesn’t mean she has given up their traditions. Every Sunday, she and her lifelong friend Doug Monk trudge through the woods to check the traps Lee left behind, traps he set to catch the aliens he so desperately believed were after him. But Liv is done with childhood fantasies. Done pretending she believes her father’s absurd theories. Done going through the motions for Doug’s sake. However, on the very day she chooses to destroy the traps, she discovers in one of them a creature so inhuman it can only be one thing. In that moment, she’s faced with a painful realization: her dad was telling the truth. And no one believed him. Now, she and Doug have a choice to make. They can turn the alien over to the authorities...or they can take matters into their own hands. On the heels of the worldwide success of The Shape of Water, Daniel Kraus returns with a horrifying and heartbreaking thriller about the lengths people go to find justice and the painful reality of grief. “Bent Heavens is the darkest, angriest alien horror story that I've ever encountered. Hell. Yes.”—Stephanie Perkins, New York Times-bestselling author of There's Someone Inside Your House

Download or read book Bent Objects written by Terry Border and published by Running Press Adult. This book was released on 2009-10-06 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trained as a photographer, Terry Border left the commercial world for story-telling. His complex vignettes are made of the simplest, everyday items: a jar of spices, a cigarette stub, a flower, a snack food. These sly photos range from whimsical scenes to sexy scenarios, the sad truths to the hilarious happenings in everyday life. In the tradition of bestselling humorous photography books like Chicks with Baggage, Play with Your Food, and Hello Cupcake!, this volume will surprise you with every viewing. A sunflower missing a petal becomes the tortured artist Van Gogh; an egg arrives to visit his mom only to discover roast chicken on the table; when confronted by a jar of peanut butter, peanuts hold a wake; and hot dogs leave behind their own brand of little presents. Marshmallows, wine corks, bread, soap, rocks, and tea bags—no common household item is safe from the twisted (wire) mind behind these uncommon creations!
