Book Synopsis Fostering Collaborative Data Exchange Using Semantic Data Models In The European Goods Transport Industry by : Andreas Pelekies
Download or read book Fostering Collaborative Data Exchange Using Semantic Data Models In The European Goods Transport Industry written by Andreas Pelekies and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2020-11-28 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than 20 years, supply chains have been optimized using electronic data interchange based on the EDIFACT standard. In 2010, the EU Commission launched a digital agenda to optimize public administration processes through uniform and cross-border regulations. Ongoing globalization and increased environmental awareness are creating increasing de-mands for the transport industry, such as shifting transport from road to rail. Several projects are focusing on the semantic standardization of data exchange based on web technologies, in order to optimize system interaction between all players of the transport supply chain. This study investigates, if using a semantic reference data model instead of a proprietary data model fosters the intensity of possible interactions of data exchange systems in the European goods transport industry. To be able to measure a change drivers, benefits, challenges, and success factors for collaborative data exchange are identified. The research in this study bases its solutions on the system interaction theory and performs a literature review as well as collects primary data. Six representatives of important players of the European goods transport industry are interviewed and surveyed.

The journal addresses researchers and advanced practitioners working on the semantic web, interoperability, mobile information services, data warehousing, knowledge representation and reasoning, conceptual database modeling, ontologies, and artificial intelligence. Volume XIII constitutes a special issue on semantic data warehouses. The papers in this volume address several topics within this relatively new domain, providing different insights into the multiple benefits that can be gained by envisioning data warehouses from a semantic perspective. These papers broach many new ideas to be addressed in future work.
Book Synopsis Data Science with Semantic Technologies by : Archana Patel
Download or read book Data Science with Semantic Technologies written by Archana Patel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-06-20 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gone are the days when data was interlinked with related data by humans and human interpretation was required. Data is no longer just data. It is now considered a Thing or Entity or Concept with meaning, so that a machine not only understands the concept but also extrapolates the way humans do. Data Science with Semantic Technologies: Deployment and Exploration, the second volume of a two-volume handbook set, provides a roadmap for the deployment of semantic technologies in the field of data science and enables the user to create intelligence through these technologies by exploring the opportunities and eradicating the challenges in the current and future time frame. In addition, this book offers the answer to various questions like: What makes a technology semantic as opposed to other approaches to data science? What is knowledge data science? How does knowledge data science relate to other fields? This book explores the optimal use of these technologies to provide the highest benefit to the user under one comprehensive source and title. As there is no dedicated book available in the market on this topic at this time, this book becomes a unique resource for scholars, researchers, data scientists, professionals, and practitioners. This volume can serve as an important guide toward applications of data science with semantic technologies for the upcoming generation.

Book Synopsis Implementing a Semantic Data Model by : Shirley L. Roth
Download or read book Implementing a Semantic Data Model written by Shirley L. Roth and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: OSIRIS is an integrated information architecture which was developed at Oregon State University. SIDUR is the data model upon which the semantic level is based. The semantic level is the mediating level between user's information needs and the stored data. The advantages of providing a semantic database environment include flexibility and independence in data access and schema changes and increased representational power. The purpose of this paper is to describe the prototype implementation of SIDUR in Franz Lisp on a VAX®-11/750. This implementation maps semantic-level database operations into a descriptive formalism, called the BAGAL query language, based solely on present data which is amenable to optimization.

Book excerpt: This third volume of the best-selling "Data Model Resource Book" series revolutionizes the data modeling discipline by answering the question "How can you save significant time while improving the quality of any type of data modeling effort?" In contrast to the first two volumes, this new volume focuses on the fundamental, underlying patterns that affect over 50 percent of most data modeling efforts. These patterns can be used to considerably reduce modeling time and cost, to jump-start data modeling efforts, as standards and guidelines to increase data model consistency and quality, and as an objective source against which an enterprise can evaluate data models.
