Each victim has been branded, a distinct mark that is the calling card of femme fatale vampire Ann Hayes. The contemptuous undead beauty declares her innocence, but can the vampires believe her? Has Ann returned to reclaim Doug Dedham, whom she once loved? Or is she being framed? Complicating matters are Madison's burgeoning feelings for both sexy vampire Colin Reddy and fellow "beater" detective Mike Notchey. The stakes have never been higher as Madison and the vampires race to solve the mystery and stop the killer. Book Synopsis Learning to Stand Against the Attacks of Satan by : Kenneth D. Reed Sr
Download or read book Learning to Stand Against the Attacks of Satan written by Kenneth D. Reed Sr and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Satan has caused some believers to lower their standards and to place limitations on life by influencing them to think they can't do any better. This book was written to be your weapon of resources to learn to stand against the attacks of Satan. Jesus states in John 10:10 that "the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." And to counter that Jesus says, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Satan doesn't want to see you living in abundance, and he doesn't want to see you walking upright with the Lord. He comes to steal your riches, kill your inheritance, and destroy your faith in God. But you can walk in the abundant life God intended! You can fight and win! It's time to gather your weapons. Your greatest arsenal is to stand on the true word of God.
Book Synopsis Topics in Biomedical Gerontology by : Pramod C. Rath
Download or read book Topics in Biomedical Gerontology written by Pramod C. Rath and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-20 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a collection of articles on various aspects of current research on aging. These include model systems, cellular, biochemical and molecular aspects of experimental aging research, as well as selected intervention studies on age-related diseases. Aging is a global challenge to human society. Children are always in a hurry to become adults, while adults produce offspring and add to the gene pool. However, after adulthood or the attainment of reproductive maturity, all physiological parameters of the living organism start to undergo the aging process. Old age sets in slowly but surely, and usually continues for a prolonged period. If vigor and vitality are the main advantages of adulthood, old age offers the rewards of experience and maturity. Biologists ask questions such as: Why do we age? How do we become old? Is it possible to slow down, postpone or even prevent aging? In turn, medical experts ask: What are the diseases associated with old age? Are there medicines that can help affected elderly patients? In fact both groups are asking themselves how can we add more health to old age. Healthy aging is the dream of every individual. But to achieve this, it is fundamental that we first understand the cellular, biochemical and molecular basis of the aging process in mammalian cells, tissues and intact living organisms, which can serve as experimental model systems in Biomedical Gerontology. Once the biology of aging is understood at the genetic and molecular levels, interventional approaches to aging and its associated diseases may be easier to plan and implement at the preclinical level.

Book excerpt: A compulsively readable novel of enormous charm swimming in the cuisine and culture of the Faroe Islands from the author of Girl, Interrupted. Jonathan Brand, a graduate student in anthropology, has decided to do his fieldwork in the remote Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic. But, despite his Harvard training, he can barely understand, let alone "study," the culture he encounters. From his struggles with the local cuisine to his affair with the Danish woman the locals want him to marry, Jonathan is both repelled by and drawn into the Faroese way of life. Wry and insightful, Far Afield reveals Susanna Kaysen's gifts of imagination, satire, and compassion.
