Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK There are as many opinions about Freedom as there are people. Although Settings/Situations regarding Freedom are located on both sides of the Thinker's Scale-a positive + a negative ruler separated by a Zero--most associate Freedom with only being inside "the Good Life." Yet, all people, in varying proportions, face good and evil aspects of life. Nevertheless, in all locations on the Thinker's Scale, for any human, the ultimate Standard for Freedom is the way it is displayed by God throughout the Cosmos in general--and Nature in particular. Whether applied to oneself and/or to others, Freedom's ingredients consist of the Spiritual Elements of Unconditional Love, Truth, Reality, Naturalness. Nothing Self-Harmful or "ME/WE"-Harmful fits. Any expressions of Freedom springing out of ones flow in Divine Laws are Spiritual. Yet, as children exhibit at Play, a sense of Freedom within any humans' Private Selfhood is natural. So, Self-Mastery is learning to use it to be free in moments of conflicts--trials/tribulations--troubles/difficulties. Finding bits/pieces of created Fun/Play/Pleasure sprinkled in Serious Business are corresponding moments of significant freedom. Such greatly stills ones minds to thereby enable osmotically receiving God's intuitions (enlightening Divine Law Knowledge), concerning handling life's worst momentary/future problems/defeats. Benefits are particularly great when one is struggling with learning best ways for: (1) Reducing, Preventing, and/or Defending against threats, disturbances, destruction, Disharmony/Disunity; (2) needing to reverse ones slowed, stopped, adverse progress by overcoming any Disharmony or what blocks forward progress; (3) overcoming losses, lacks, obstacles on ones path. Freedom moments during trials/tribulations activate ones Virtues and Valor--a courageousness or bravery shown in a worthy cause of Harmony. Virtues display as ones lifestyle that stay within the theme of the high vibration rate instilled by God in primordial "humans-to-be". That rate was presumably the same as God's vibrations, since humans are made in God's likeness. To the degree possible for each human, life living is to be of a nature whereby ones/God's correlation of a high vibration rate persists. As a result, Ancient African Sages said every human, upon Earth World death, becomes meshed into God and hence free of reincarnation. Because humans are an admix of Divinity (Spiritual) and Animalistic (Matter) aspects, their best in conforming to Freedom is daily Human Perfection striving for Virtue living. This means ones living flaws do not prevent their Heaven Afterlife 'forever' residence as long as they do not hamper ones Spiritual Virtues. Virtuous "Goodness" within ones character has a Metaphysical sense of whatever it is about having no strivings, no self-benefit aims-a Freedom state.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essential introduction to the theory and application of linear models—now in a valuable new edition Since most advanced statistical tools are generalizations of the linear model, it is neces-sary to first master the linear model in order to move forward to more advanced concepts. The linear model remains the main tool of the applied statistician and is central to the training of any statistician regardless of whether the focus is applied or theoretical. This completely revised and updated new edition successfully develops the basic theory of linear models for regression, analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, and linear mixed models. Recent advances in the methodology related to linear mixed models, generalized linear models, and the Bayesian linear model are also addressed. Linear Models in Statistics, Second Edition includes full coverage of advanced topics, such as mixed and generalized linear models, Bayesian linear models, two-way models with empty cells, geometry of least squares, vector-matrix calculus, simultaneous inference, and logistic and nonlinear regression. Algebraic, geometrical, frequentist, and Bayesian approaches to both the inference of linear models and the analysis of variance are also illustrated. Through the expansion of relevant material and the inclusion of the latest technological developments in the field, this book provides readers with the theoretical foundation to correctly interpret computer software output as well as effectively use, customize, and understand linear models. This modern Second Edition features: New chapters on Bayesian linear models as well as random and mixed linear models Expanded discussion of two-way models with empty cells Additional sections on the geometry of least squares Updated coverage of simultaneous inference The book is complemented with easy-to-read proofs, real data sets, and an extensive bibliography. A thorough review of the requisite matrix algebra has been addedfor transitional purposes, and numerous theoretical and applied problems have been incorporated with selected answers provided at the end of the book. A related Web site includes additional data sets and SAS® code for all numerical examples. Linear Model in Statistics, Second Edition is a must-have book for courses in statistics, biostatistics, and mathematics at the upper-undergraduate and graduate levels. It is also an invaluable reference for researchers who need to gain a better understanding of regression and analysis of variance.

This book was released on 1997 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why was Britain the first country to opt for unilateral free trade 150 years ago? On 16 May 1846, the House of Commons voted to abolish tariff protection for agriculture - the famous 'repeal of the Corn Laws'. Britain then adhered to her free trade policy despite both her relative economic decline and the protectionist policies of her leading trade rivals, the USA and Germany. This four volume set examines and explains the contentious issues surrounding the policy shift to free trade and the subsequent persistence of that policy. This set provides a comprehensive collection of articles including previously unpublished material on nineteenth century British trade policy and a new and comprehensive introduction by the editor putting the material into context.

Book excerpt: Volumes in Writing Spaces: Readings on Writing offer multiple perspectives on a wide-range of topics about writing, much like the model made famous by Wendy Bishop’s “The Subject Is . . .” series. In each chapter, authors present their unique views, insights, and strategies for writing by addressing the undergraduate reader directly. Drawing on their own experiences, these teachers-as-writers invite students to join in the larger conversation about developing nearly every aspect of craft of writing. Consequently, each essay functions as a standalone text that can easily complement other selected readings in writing or writing-intensive courses across the disciplines at any level. Topics in Volume 1 of the series include academic writing, how to interpret writing assignments, motives for writing, rhetorical analysis, revision, invention, writing centers, argumentation, narrative, reflective writing, Wikipedia, patchwriting, collaboration, and genres.

This book was released on 2008-09-12 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second volume of this comprehensive anthology covers the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The anthology is broad ranging both in its selection of material by figures traditionally acknowledged as being of central importance, and in the material it presents by a range of other figures. The material in this volume is presented in three sections. The first, “Power and the State,” includes selections by such figures as Goldman, Lenin, Weber, Schmitt, and Hayek. Among those included in the “Race, Gender, and Colonialism” section are de Beauvoir, Gandhi, Fanon, and Young. The third and by far the longest section, “Rights-Based Liberalism and its Critics,” focuses on the many interrelated directions that social and political philosophy has taken since the publication of John Rawls’s ground-breaking A Theory of Justice in 1971. In order to better meet the needs of today’s students, the editors have made every effort to include accurate and accessible translations of the readings. Additionally, every selection has been painstakingly annotated, and each figure is given a substantial introduction highlighting her or his major contributions within the tradition. For figures of central importance, the editors have included extended introductions that place the figure in the context of intellectual history as well as of political thought. In order to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and accessibility, the editors have consulted dozens of leading academics during the course of the volume’s development (many of whom have contributed introductory material as well as advice). The result is an anthology with unparalleled pedagogical benefits; The Broadview Anthology of Social and Political Thought sets the new standard for social and political philosophy instruction.
