Download or read book The Buddy Bench written by Patty Brozo and published by Tilbury House Publishers and Cadent Publishing. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Having seen what being left out is like, children become agents of change, convincing their teacher to let them build a buddy bench. A school playground can be a solitary place for a kid without playmates; in one survey, 80 percent of 8- to 10-year-old respondents described being lonely at some point during a school day. Patty Brozo’s cast of kids brings a playground to raucous life, and Mike Deas’s illustrations invest their games with imaginary planes to fly, dragons to tame, and elephants to ride. And these kids match their imaginations with empathy, identifying and swooping up the lonely among them. Buddy benches are appearing in schoolyards around the country. Introduced from Germany in 2014, the concept is simple: When a child sits on the bench, it’s a signal to other kids to ask him or her to play.
Book Synopsis Backbenchers to Achievers by : Dr Archana Yadav
Download or read book Backbenchers to Achievers written by Dr Archana Yadav and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term "backbencher" in this book refers to all those individuals who are not performing at their best potential, just like some students are backbenchers in the classroom. To me, being a backbencher means not giving your best, trying to withdraw; not seeing the problem eye-to-eye, and running away from it. An attitude of "okay" vs. perfection. An attitude of escapism does not yield the best results. One has to be a warrior to face the challenges. A leader who can lead his life, a captain of his own ship called life. This book is an attempt to transform from mediocre to excellent performance From the life of a backbencher to that of an achievement.

Book Synopsis British Parliamentary Parties by : Jack Brand
Download or read book British Parliamentary Parties written by Jack Brand and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book Jack Brand examines the role of the British Conservative and Labour parliamentary parties in the development of government policy since 1945. Focusing on six major policy fields: agriculture, education, housing, defence, the economy, and Scottish affairs, he argues that the influence of back-benchers has been consistently underestimated, and that the close interdependence of front-and back-benchers frequently produces surprising and significant effects on policy development. Dr. Brand concludes that the common perception of back-benchers as powerless to affect the policies of their leaders is misleading, and that they are essential to the development of government policy.

Download or read book The House of Lords and Contemporary Politics written by P. A. Bromhead and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-11-01 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1958, the essential purpose of this book was to present a picture of the unreformed House of Lords at work as part of the effective system of government in Britain at the time, going back to the passing of the Parliament Act of 1911. When the Parliament Act of 1911 was passed, both its advocates and its opponents expected that it would soon be replaced by a comprehensive reform both of the powers and of the composition of the House of Lords. The previous forty years had in fact seen innumerable proposals, modest and ambitious, in Parliament and Party Conferences, but all had been abortive. The powers of the House had been left unchanged until 1958, except by the new Parliament Act of 1949, which merely modified the provisions of the old by reducing from three sessions to two the Lords’ power to delay bills passed by the Commons. The Life Peerages Act, discussed in this book, which authorised the creation of life baronies with no numerical limits, was passed in 1958.
