Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of The Biblical prophecy of the Whore of Babylon St. Augustine said that the Church of Rome would one day apostatize while St. Jerome hinted that the day of apostasy may have already begun, but today even many Protestants reject this notion arguing instead that a new Babylonian kingdom will arise in Iraq. She Who Restores the Roman Empire is a thorough survey of this controversial prophecy. It examines the prophetic interpretations throughout history and shows their impact upon history. It shows how the prophecy itself helped shaped the Reformation and counter-Reformation. It also discusses the newer interpretations which predict a revival of ancient Babylon or a global New Age religion. Dr. Criswell’s conclusion is based on thorough exegesis and on historical precedent. He contends that it is the Harlot who will initiate the restoration of the Roman Empire and the anti-Christ will initially be his puppet before turning on her and destroying her great city. Napoleon was an archetype of the coming anti-Christ who will promise a new world but deliver destruction. "David Criswell has done an outstanding job in handling the subject of Babylon the Harlot in the book of Revelation. As a Tyndale Seminary graduate student, he was a thorough researcher and scholar. No matter what your view on the "Babylon" issue, this book is a classic at analyzing the subject. The reader will find this treatise a fascinating adventure in Bible study." —Dr. Mal Couch, president, Tyndale Seminary

Book excerpt: Christians are by their nature a people out of place. Their true home is with God; in civic life, they are alien citizens "in but not of the world." In American Babylon, eminent theologian Richard John Neuhaus examines the particular truth of that ambiguity for Catholics in America today. Neuhaus addresses the essential quandaries of Catholic life -- assessing how Catholics can keep their heads above water in the sea of immorality that confronts them in the world, how they can be patriotic even though their true country is not in this world, and how they might reconcile their duties as citizens with their commitment to God. Deeply learned, frequently combative, and always eloquent, American Babylon is Neuhaus's magnum opus -- and will be essential reading for all Christians.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Beast and Babylon" answers some age-old questions about the two symbolic entities featured in the book of Revelation. These symbols have historically been typified as a revived Roman Empire, and its God-opposing religious counterparts that rise up (in Europe), prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In contrast, this informative and timely study reveals that the latter-day beast power rises out of not one, but out of three defunct previous empires in the Middle East; known--via Daniel's metaphors--as the lion, bear, and leopard kingdoms. It appears from Daniel 7:11-12, that long after the last manifestation of the Roman Empire is destroyed, these three dormant empires are revived "for a season and a time." During their rejuvenation, they reappear in Revelation 13 and 17 in the form of a tripartite, seven-headed, political/religious beast power that emerges from the topographies of the ancient Grecian (leopard), Persian (bear), and Babylonian (lion) kingdoms. Furthermore, these combined territories encompass ten sovereign Islamic "horn" nations that were revealed after the Ottoman Empire was abolished ninety-five years ago. Today, many of these Islamic nations contain embedded terrorist groups whose fanatical Jihadist leaders are determined to resurrect a radical pan-Islamic Caliphate, by which to establish Sharia law throughout the World. To achieve these objectives, the latter-day nascent imperial beast power--in conjunction with ten like-minded insurgent leaders--must initiate a global Jihad to incite war on the people of God, and conspire to destroy a religious city called "Mystery, Babylon the Great."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "He who has ears let him hear." Jesus said those words many times. What did he mean? He also declared, "The truth will set you free." Which truth? Free from what? This book will tell you in no uncertain terms, a message to be stapled on the world's bulletin board for any who pass by, and in particular for those who have the "right ears." It is a thorough explanation of the astonishing freedom won by Christ for his elect and the devastating implications this has for all world religion and philosophy, especially Christianity. It will shatter the myths underpinning many long cherished beliefs and rock the Church to its foundations. Along with many other surprises you will discover that the word "church" is not even in the Bible! This investigation covers most aspects of the Church with special reference to its origin in early times: fathers, councils, creeds, buildings, names and titles, saints, priesthood and clergy, celibacy, ordination, confirmation, sacraments, tithes, sabbaths, festivals, gospels and media, assurance, second-coming and ecumenical beliefs. All these are weighed against Scripture, namely the teachings of Christ, the apostles and prophets, and found to be either non-existent, obsolete, not the same thing or quite the opposite! However, these concepts did not materialize from nothing; all came from someone, somewhere. The revelation of each source will be quite a shock for readers who thought they had a handle on the facts. Well-documented and researched but written in dynamic style, this presentation is often moving and alarming. This is the truth which sets free.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This books asks you to set aside your preconceptions and confirmation bias and simply examine what the Scriptures say, especially in prophecy. If it is too difficult for you to reconsider mainstream understandings of what the Scripture says about things such as, the doctrine of the Trinity, the corruption of the Church, whether or not Muhammad was a prophet, etc., then this book is not for you. If you are willing to look and study, then this book can serve as a tool in understanding Bible prophecy. It begins with the Babylonian exile, then continues through the rise of the Persians, Greeks, and Romans, the coming of the Messiah, the rise and corruption of the Church, the rise of Islam, the reemergence of the corrupt Church, the return of Jesus, and the establishment of God's kingdom. The prophecies serve as a warning to those who follow the traditions of the Church instead of Scripture. However, the primary mission of the prophets wasn't to make predictions, but to provide guidance. I believe the prophecies indicate that the church corrupted the teachings of Jesus, and what is preached today bears little resemblance what he preached. The 17th and 18th chapters of Revelation describe it as the Great Whore Babylon, from which this book gets its title. An open-minded study of Revelation also seems to indicate that God gave Muhammad a message to get the Church to repent of its blasphemies and worship only one person as God. It seems to indicate that Protestantism, aided by America, will form an image to the beast (Roman Church) and will join the fight against the followers of God. This book goes into great detail in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation and the rest of Scripture in order to let the Scripture do the interpreting. One should always let the Bible provide the meanings of symbols and interpret accordingly. I make every effort to only draw interpretations from Scripture, instead of reading interpretations into the text. In fact, I prefer to simply quote the Scripture and let it speak for itself. However, I don't make any kind of claim that the contents of this book were revealed to me directly from God. You should place your faith in the Scriptures and only accept the points that you can clearly see the Scriptures saying. 2nd expanded edition - black and white

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Walls of Babylon is a radically revisionist reading of the Revelation to John, offering startling insights into the historical roots of Gnosticism, the social dynamics of early Christianity, and the shattering impact of apocalyptic eschatology. Based on a careful analysis of the text, David Arthur argues that the motivating circumstance for Revelation was provided not by external Roman oppression but by a fierce internal dispute between gnostic and proto-orthodox factions within the early church. In the ensuing controversy, John did not side with ecclesiastical officials, as might be expected, but instead took up the cause of the persecuted outcasts. Following the precedent of the classical prophets, he speaks as a champion for the downtrodden and dispossessed––represented, for him, by the gnostic heretics. The book he has left us presents a fiery symbolic rebuke of proto-orthodox Christianity, and by extension, challenges normative religious paradigms at every level of belief and praxis.

The language of the inspired writers expresses in the most vivid manner, the awful and terrific scenes of that day in which God arises from His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth. God always warns before sending His judgments. As He warned Sodom and Gomorrah before sending fire and brimstone, and the antediluvian world through Noah before the flood, even so today He is sending a message of warning. In Revelation, Chapter 14, we find the three angels' messages which are being heralded around the world.
