Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of 36 monographs serves as a well-rounded introduction to the Law of Thelema. ?Lapis Philosophorum? redefines the magical philosophy of Thelema, liberating it from the accretions of the past as well as those of the modern age. ?Babalon Unveiled!? forms the centrepiece of this collection and is one of seven related studies on the mystery of the Scarlet Woman. Each shows an aspect of her oracular voice as it has been heard and recorded down the ages. ?Angels of Sacred Dance, Love and Whoredom? examines how the divine feminine of pre-religious antiquity was demonised, resulting in a host of ?fallen angels? whose identity is yet preserved, albeit under a heavy veil in traditional Qabalistic texts. The book is dedicated to the memory of Rose Edith Kelly, otherwise known as Rose Crowley or Ouarda the Seer. Rose was the medium and intelligence for the transmission activated through the Stele of Revealing in the Cairo museum in 1904.
Book Synopsis Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune by : Alan Richardson
Download or read book Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune written by Alan Richardson and published by Llewellyn Worldwide. This book was released on 2009 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune were two of the most controversial and powerful occultists of the 20th century. Crowley was regarded by many as a creature of the night, albeit one whose soul was streaked with brilliance; Fortune was viewed as one of the Shining Ones, who nevertheless wrestled with her own darkness. Between them they produced some of the best books on magick ever written, and their influence upon contemporary magicians has been profound. Written by occult scholar Alan Richardson, this unusual and provocative book draws upon unpublished material to reveal little-known aspects of Crowley and Fortune's relationship, and their role as harbingers of sweeping cultural changes--foreshadowing the women's movement, the sexual revolution, and 1960s counterculture--as well as other surprising influences upon our present culture.

Book excerpt: In every true act of divination, in every true act of magick, something of the soul is born into the world. This book focuses on the structure of the Tarot and the system of Qabalistic correspondences that transform it from a card game or fortune telling device into a spiritual, intellectual and magical vehicle of the highest order. The major arcana cards each have a chapter to describe them; a complete method of divination is provided. Unique to the Egyptian Tarot of Thelema is the use of British surrealist artist and occultist Ithell Colquhoun's interpretation of the magical correspondences. This is the perfect introductory text for readers who wonder what the works—rather than the myth—of Aleister Crowley are all about. DuQuette begins by dispatching some of the myths that have surrounded Crowley’s life and legend. Step by step, and in plain English, he presents a course of study with examples of rituals and explanations of their significance. DuQuette also includes a survey of many of Crowley’s original works with an extensive bibliography and endnotes. Formerly titled The Magick of Thelema, then released in a revised edition published in 2003, this Weiser Classics edition includes a new introduction by the author.

Book Synopsis The Eloquent Blood by : Manon Hedenborg White
Download or read book The Eloquent Blood written by Manon Hedenborg White and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Eloquent Blood focuses on the changing construction of femininity and feminine sexuality in interpretations of the goddess Babalon. A central deity in Thelema, the religion founded by the notorious British occultist Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), Babalon is based on Crowley's favorable reinterpretation of the biblical Whore of Babylon, and is associated with liberated female sexuality and the spiritual ideal of passionate union with existence. Combining research on historical and contemporary Western esotericism with feminist and queer theory, the book sheds light on the ways in which esoteric movements and systems of thought have developed over time in relation to political movements.
Book Synopsis The Phoenix and Other Stellar Rites of Initiation by : Oliver St John
Download or read book The Phoenix and Other Stellar Rites of Initiation written by Oliver St John and published by Ordo Astri. This book was released on 2017-06-21 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book redefines the Magick of Light for the New Aeon. Liber CMXXX is the rite of admission to the first degree in the Golden Dawn of a Thelemic magical Order. It is the key to forging the correct inner plane contacts. The first degree is that of Neophyte, corresponding Qabalistically to Malkuth. The most important Initiations are those that take place on the central or middle pillar of the Hermetic Tree of Life. We therefore include with this book the admission to the grade of Zelator, The Ceremony for making the Khu perfect or Liber XXV, and Liber Zain, a modern version of the Bornless Ritual to attain the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. The three ceremonies of Initiation each come with new or extended commentaries. The "flashing colours" are particular to the Magick of Light that is, in turn, the central operational factor in theurgical rites. The diagrams and illustrations, reproduced in colour, are integral to this book.

Book Synopsis New Approaches to the Study of Esotericism by :
Download or read book New Approaches to the Study of Esotericism written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-12-15 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers new approaches to some of the biggest persistent challenges in the study of esotericism and beyond. Commonly understood as a particularly "Western" undertaking consisting of religious, philosophical, and ritual traditions that go back to Mediterranean antiquity, this book argues for a global approach that significantly expands the scope of esotericism and highlights its relevance for broader theoretical and methodological debates in the humanities and social sciences. The contributors offer critical interventions on aspects related to colonialism, race, gender and sexuality, economy, and marginality. Equipped with a substantial introduction and conclusion, the book offers textbook-style discussions of the state of research and makes concrete proposals for how esotericism can be rethought through broader engagement with neighboring fields.
Book Synopsis Approaching Babalon by : Georgia Van Raalte
Download or read book Approaching Babalon written by Georgia Van Raalte and published by . This book was released on 2020-11-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approaching Babalon presents a series of essays exploring the Goddess Babalon, the Divine Feminine, the Dark Mother, and the ever-revolving circuit of Sex and Death which lies at the centre of the Mysteries. An overview and introduction to the Goddess Babalon that takes a different road to that of Crowley and his followers, Approaching Babalon draws on the insights of Thelema, Ceremonial Magic, Critical Theory, Liberation Theology and the Decadents to weave its magico-theological poetics. Centralising the body and bodily experience, the author rejects patriarchal mysticisms which seek to flee from the body and the world and slink off into the pure white light of heavenly rationalist sanitized boredom. Inspiring, erotic and deeply poetic, the text reaches ecstatic heights as it offers a kaleidoscopic vision of magic, sexuality, spirituality, ritual and the body in the time of the apocalypse.
Book Synopsis The Enterer of the Threshold by : Oliver St John
Download or read book The Enterer of the Threshold written by Oliver St John and published by . This book was released on 2018-03-07 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Initiation works through the formula called the Enterer of the Threshold. The Probationer must enter the pyramid of Malkuth from 'outside' to truly become a Neophyte. They must square the infinite circle of all that they are and can ever be. The 0=0 is the most important grade in the Order because it lays the foundation and provides the magical link between the Outer World of Darkness and the interior world of Illuminated Souls or inner plane Adepti. It is the aim of magick to forge contacts with the latter. The pyramid of Malkuth must first be constructed through the effort of the Probationer, then realised through contact made with the inner planes. The Probationer degree is all about the circle of the infinite-for it has no number or sephira. This is not something that only concerns the Probationer that is awaiting full admission to the Order, for the squaring of the circle applies to every grade and every sephira of the Tree of Life.
Book Synopsis Rites of the Mummy by : Jeffrey D. Evans
Download or read book Rites of the Mummy written by Jeffrey D. Evans and published by Nicolas-Hays, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-11-15 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An arcane ritual reveals a code hidden within Thelema’s most holy book. Over a period of several years, the former head of Kenneth Grant’s Typhonian Order in the United States, conducted a bizarre sexual ritual with elements of Thelema, Lovecraft, and the Egyptian mummification ceremony to unlock a mathematical code buried in plain sight in Aleister Crowley’s Book of the Law. Jeffrey Evans, a follower of Aleister Crowley’s Thelema since his teenage years, had an encounter on a bridge in Washington, DC, with a being he identified as his holy guardian angel. This being—Karla—provided him with the inspiration to begin a series of rituals incorporating Egyptian and Lovecraftian elements in an effort to traverse the Tunnels of Set: pathways on the “dark side” of the Qabalistic Tree of Life. The ritual, conducted with his wife, Ruth Keenan, employed cross-dressing and bondage as well as Cthulhian imagery and chanting, and resulted in a series of revelations concerning the mathematical code hidden within the verses of Crowley’s Book of the Law: a circumstance that Crowley always suspected but was never able to prove, not even with the help of accomplished mathematicians. Evans tried in vain to demonstrate this code to other members of the Typhonian Order, to no avail, but a chance meeting online with Peter Levenda resulted in Levenda’s taking a closer look at the data and what he discovered astounded him. He agreed to help bring this discovery to the attention of the general public. There has been very little new work published in the field of Thelema in the last 10 years or so, at least since the death of Kenneth Grant. Most publishing concerning Crowley has been biographical or reissues of Crowley’s own material. This work is a departure from all of that. It is new material, completely unexpected within the Crowley/Thelema/OTO environment, for it offers a new approach to the mathematical nature of Thelema that so far has been based on Qabalah. This work brings attention to the existence of a sacred geometry within the verses of the Book of the Law: a completely unexpected discovery but nonetheless mathematically verifiable. It bridges the gap between Thelema, Freemasonry, and Templarism, as well as Gnosticism, demonstrating a continuum of esoteric thought spanning millennia.
