The main reason for the trip is so Iggy, the now seven-inch preadolescent gnome, can help the nine-year-old Oliver get settled into his new school. However, Iggy is also preparing himself for another potentially dangerous situation during his short stay. Legend states that the elves inhabiting the basement of the Academy turn ill-spirited toward incoming students on the Autumnal Equinox. Iggy plans to explore the many intricate clues surrounding this fifty-year mystery before it's too late for Oliver and his friends. Iggy has a renewed sense of confidence in his ability since the infamous goblin capture over the summer. He just needs to remember to keep his eyes focused on anything that seems slightly out of the ordinary. Common objects and unsuspecting people will all offer clues if he remains open-minded. Autumn Secrets of the Equinox will take you and Iggy on a trip where you will find yourself soaring through the constellations one minute and then swimming through flooded catacombs the next. Book excerpt: Homer is renowned as the finest of the storytellers who for countless generations passed down by word of mouth the myths and legends of Ancient Greece. Yet, for some 2500 years there have been persistent folk memories that his genius extended far beyond literature and that scientific knowledge was hidden in his stories of heroes and villains, gods and ghosts, monsters and witches. Research now reveals that at a time when the Greeks did not have a written script, Homer concealed an astonishing range of learning about calendar making and cycles of the sun, moon and planet Venus in the Odyssey, his epic of the Fall of Troy and the adventures of the warrior-king Odysseus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sufism formed one of the cultures of resistance which has existed in the social fabric of Persia since antiquity. Such resistance continues to manifest itself today with many looking to Sufism as a model of cooperation between East and West, between traditional and modern. 'Sufism in the Secret History of Persia' explores the place of Sufi mysticism in Iran's intellectual and spiritual consciousness through traditional and contemporary Sufi thinkers and writers. Sufism in the Secret History of Persia examines the current of spirituality which extends from the old Iranian worship of Mithra to modern Islam. This current always contains elements of gnosis and inner knowing, but has often provided impetus for socio-political resistance. The study describes how these persisting pre-Islamic cultural and socio-religious elements have secretly challenged Muslim orthodoxies and continue to shape the nature and orientation of contemporary Sufism.

This book was released on 2011-03-23 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PREFACE The Tibetan medical system, more popularly known as Sowa Rigpa (Knowledge of Healing), is undoubtedly as old as Tibetan civilization itself. The earliest inhabitants of Tibet were confronted with a host of difficulties due to the way they had to live during those ancient times. The only means of sustenance and survival was to rely on the various natural resources around them. These early people gradually learned the uses and medical efficacy of natural resources. The inherent discernment of these early people led them to discover natural remedies for various healthrelated problems. Their innate urge to overcome physical discomfort, combined with their curiosity about the world around them, made them create some effective natural remedies for many common illnesses. Drinking and sprinkling cold water against fever, compressing cold stone on an inflamed swelling, using heated oil to stop bleeding, drinking hot water for indigestion, eating boiled foods rather than eating them raw - these insights1 and many others have proven their effectiveness and have continued to be of use even to this day. The development of the Tibetan science of healing is based on the wisdom of such ancient medical practices. The application of a medical remedy against poisoning2 as pronounced by Tsiblha Karma Yolde to the first king of Tibet Nyatri Tsenpo (circa 300 B.C.) clearly demonstrates that the early inhabitants of Tibet had knowledge of the therapeutic value of herbs and minerals even during that time. Medical knowledge continued to be passed on by means of various oral traditions and has kept alive the knowledge of numerous remedies over many centuries. Before Buddhism and the present Tibetan script were introduced to Tibet, the Bon religious and cultural traditions flourished in the region of Shang Shung in southwestern Tibet. The legendary Bon master and cultural founder Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche was born in Purang, Tibet, at the time of the Lord Buddha. The Bon master authored many important medical literatures such as Sojay Kyi Do Ghu, Sorig Chegyud Daser, Sojay Nadbum Nagpo3, Sojay Manbum Karp4, Sothab Chedbum Trawo5, and Tsawa Thukbum Khangon6 and he established the foundation for the development of the Bon medical tradition. His eldest son, Chebu Trishey, learned the art of medicine from his father and later became a very important figure in the development of the Bon medical system. At that time, Bon religion and culture were at their height and shamanistic ways of healing were very popular throughout Tibet. They undoubtedly influenced the existing Tibetan medical knowledge and practices. The Gyueshi (Four Tantras) which is the fundamental text of Tibetan medicine, contains mantras and the names of some medicinal substances, compounds, and diseases in the original Bon language. This is a clear indication of the influence of Bon on Tibetan medicine. We can therefore assume that there was knowledge and practices of medicine before the reign of King Lha Thothori Nyentsen and before the introduction of the present Tibetan script during the 7th century.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Secret Astrology of the Bible by Michael Ledo is a landmark book that will change the way the scholarly community and the general public views the Bible, history and myth. Epic in scope, this provocative book explores the connections between religious belief and cosmic theory, even as it attempts to explain contradictions and irregularities in the text. The Bible, states Ledo, was constructed as a living document, with much of its text expanded as time went on. If readers stripped away this added material, they could actually be left with an Early Bronze Age text, over a thousand years older than what is currently accepted by scholars. This text, suggests Ledo, would be a veritable cosmic myth which follows the constellations with stories in a contiguous fashion that combine both history and myth. Originally sold as "On Earth as it is in Heaven, The Cosmic Roots of the Bible."
