Book Synopsis Autour de l' enfant by : Anne Lefebvre-Teillard
Download or read book Autour de l' enfant written by Anne Lefebvre-Teillard and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2008-09-30 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present “revolution” in biological technology is leading lawyers to fundamentally reconsider the laws of human reproduction .What is at stake is not only the transmission of life but also the transmission of a certain order of the things on which society is based. This is the reason why the law has always sought to regulate the transmission of life. Covering themes from Canon and medieval Roman Law to the 1804 ‘Code civil’, the work includes twenty-three articles on the history of law about a number of modern-day questions. They deal with the close connections long maintained between marriage and procreation; with natural and legal "filiation" especially regarding the very delicate problems of evidence; with the institution of legitimation but also of the child as a person. There is also an article on the important matter of the "conceived child".

Book Synopsis Autour des Libri coloniarum by : Antonio Gonzalès
Download or read book Autour des Libri coloniarum written by Antonio Gonzalès and published by Presses Univ. Franche-Comté. This book was released on 2006 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Insights Into Specialized Translation by : Maurizio Gotti
Download or read book Insights Into Specialized Translation written by Maurizio Gotti and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2006 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume focuses on specialist translation - one of the areas of translation in greatest demand in our age of globalization. The 16 chapters deal not only with the classical domains of science and technology, law, socio-politics and medicine but also with lesser researched areas such as archeology, geography, nutrigenomics and others. As a whole, the book achieves a blend of theory and practice. It addresses a variety of issues such as translation strategy based on text type and purpose, intercultural transfer and quality assessment, as well as textual and terminological issues in bilingual and multilingual settings, including international organizations and the European Union. Today translation competence presupposes multidisciplinary skills. Whereas some chapters analyze the linguistic features of special-purpose texts and their function in specialized communication, others show how specialized translation has changed as a result of globalization and how advances in technology have altered terminology research and translation processing.
Book Synopsis La quête anthropologique du droit by : Christoph Eberhard
Download or read book La quête anthropologique du droit written by Christoph Eberhard and published by KARTHALA Editions. This book was released on 2006 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Interpretation in/of the Seventeenth Century by : Pierre Zoberman
Download or read book Interpretation in/of the Seventeenth Century written by Pierre Zoberman and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-18 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interpretation in/of the Seventeenth Century explores interpretation according to, and by, the seventeenth century, namely how intellectuals and officials conceived of interpretation, and how they read their world and its relationship to the past, and of the seventeenth century. As such, the volume examines both temporal relationships, such as current interpretations of the seventeenth century or interpretation of itself and the past by the seventeenth century, and transversal relations, including practices of reading, crossings from one genre to another, and translation. The comparative conception underlying the collection’s three main sections (“Culture and Interpretation”, “Interpretation and Literature”, and “Shifts and Perspectives”) allows for an in-depth examination of what could be meant in seventeenth-century France by interpretation—between exegesis and translation—and what interpretive practices characterized the culture of the period. What may the ceremonies organized on a more or less grandiose scale and with more or less clearly visible programmes by the Crown or various institutions have meant for the organizers and their audiences, given the material and perspectival limitations faced by most of the viewers and participants and the difficulty to read the allegorical-symbolic representations? Science and belief play an important role in deciphering representation: discourses on optics and ghosts stories alike help shed light on the evolution of interpretation, as concept and practice, throughout this period. Literature, in the modern sense of the word, is given particular attention in the volume. Several chapters examine the connection of literary forms to conceptions of interpretation: how did topical plays, staging contemporary events, help shape the interpretation of current affairs and further political agendas? More generally, how do dramaturgy, theatrical production and acting contribute to an understanding of the ways in which the participants in early modern European culture viewed their own time, and of the ways in which the period can be interpreted today? And can early-modern accounts of literature and society be read as signposts for a modern understanding of the period? To these and other, related, questions, the study of translation and translators in the seventeenth century and of modern translations for audiences outside of France (in particular for Molière), as well as an examination of adaptations of seventeenth-century works for other media today, bring novel perspectives.

Book Synopsis Research Methods in Legal Translation and Interpreting by : Łucja Biel
Download or read book Research Methods in Legal Translation and Interpreting written by Łucja Biel and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-05-09 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of Legal translation and interpreting has strongly expanded over recent years. As it has developed into an independent branch of Translation Studies, this book advocates for a substantiated discussion of methods and methodology, as well as knowledge about the variety of approaches actually applied in the field. It is argued that, complex and multifaceted as it is, legal translation calls for research that might cross boundaries across research approaches and disciplines in order to shed light on the many facets of this social practice. The volume addresses the challenge of methodological consolidation, triangulation and refinement. The work presents examples of the variety of theoretical approaches which have been developed in the discipline and of the methodological sophistication which is currently being called for. In this regard, by combining different perspectives, they expand our understanding of the roles played by legal translators and interpreters, who emerge as linguistic and intercultural mediators dealing with a rich variety of legal texts; as knowledge communicators and as builders of specialised knowledge; as social agents performing a socially-situated activity; as decision-makers and agents subject to and redefining power relations, and as political actors shaping legal cultures and negotiating cultural identities, as well as their own professional identity. Book Synopsis Cultural Heritage and International Law by : Evelyne Lagrange
Download or read book Cultural Heritage and International Law written by Evelyne Lagrange and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-04 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the objects, means and ends of international cultural heritage protection. It starts from a broad conception of cultural heritage that encompasses both tangible property, such as museum objects or buildings, and intangible heritage, such as languages and traditions. Cultural heritage thus defined is protected by various legal regimes, including the law of armed conflicts, UNESCO Conventions and international criminal law. With a view to strengthening international protection, the authors analyze existing regimes and elaborate innovative concepts, such as blue helmets of culture and safe havens for endangered cultural heritage. Finally, the ends of international protection come to the fore, and the authors address possible conflicts between protecting cultural diversity and wishes to strengthen cultural identity.
