Ces publications proposent des recommandations dans l'interprétation des textes applicables, afin que les inspections abordant cette thématique soient rendues plus efficaces et harmonisées internationalement. Ils permettent également d'éclaircir l'influence de l'intégrité des données dans tous les processus d'un environnement GxP, et constituent de précieux outils permettant, pour l'industrie pharmaceutique, d'appréhender les attentes des diverses réglementations. De multiples plans d'action, dont la finalité est de maitriser l'intégrité des données, sont aussi préconisés. Le processus complexe de l'intégrité des données semble requérir une réadaptation du système qualité des industries pharmaceutiques. Les systèmes informatisés administrant les données doivent être repositionnés de manière centrale à l'organisation de la qualité interne des entreprises. De toute évidence, l'inclusion des principes de la gouvernance et de gestion de risques permettent d'accorder un plus haut degré de confiance dans la fidélité du recueil des données.L'intégrité des données incombe immanquablement à chaque personne évoluant dans un environnement GxP : comprendre son importance et sa fragilité sont certainement les clefs de sa maitrise.

L'industrie pharmaceutique fait de plus en plus confiance aux systèmes informatisés et automatisés (SIA) pour relever ce défi. Ceux-ci assurent une meilleure maitrise des processus. En effet ils facilitent la gestion et la manipulation de grandes quantités de données. Ces données sont essentielles et doivent être fiables, enregistrées et sécurisées à chaque étape du cycle de vie des médicaments. C'est la notion d'intégrité des données. La qualité de la maitrise des données est devenue une exigence primordiale dans le monde pharmaceutique. En effet, elle présente de nombreux risques et fait encore souvent l'objet de failles conséquentes. Le caractère novateur des textes relatifs à l'intégrité des données relève donc aussi bien d'une prise de conscience que d'une nouvelle façon d'entrevoir la responsabilité des entreprises. De nos jour les SIA sont de plus un plus présents dans toutes les étapes de fabrication du médicament et génèrent un nombre de données non négligeable, devant être pouvoir tracés à tout moment. L'intégrité des données générées et gérées par SIA chez Boehringer Ingelheim dans le cadre d'un projet, est assurée par le concourt de différents moyens, et ce, pendant l'intégralité du cycle de vie du SIA. Toujours est-il que l'évolution technologique et scientifique ainsi que la réglementation de plus en plus stricte sur le sujet, demande une réadaptation continuelle du système qualité actuel.
