The book presents the complete anatomy of the arteries, veins, and lymphatic system by body region. Full-color drawings are correlated with angiographic images to guide evaluation and management of vascular disease and performance of endovascular procedures. For this Second Edition, Dr. Uflacker has added more than 100 pictures and extensively reviewed the anatomical description of the vascular system. He has expanded the cardiac chapter with new CTA and MRI images, added percutaneous access where needed, and expanded the coverage of lower extremity anatomy.

Book excerpt: The 3D Angiographic Atlas of Neurovascular Anatomy and Pathology is the first atlas to present neurovascular information and images based on catheter 3D rotational angiographic studies. The images in this book are the culmination of work done by Neil M. Borden over several years using one of the first 3D neurovascular angiographic suites in the United States. With the aid of this revolutionary technology, Dr Borden has performed numerous diagnostic neurovascular angiographic studies as well as endovascular neurosurgical procedures. The spectacular 3D images he obtained are extensively labeled and juxtaposed with conventional 2D angiograms for orientation and comparison. Anatomical color drawings and concise descriptions of the major intracranial vascular territories further enhance understanding of the complex cerebral vasculature.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Considering the numerous works dealing with the angiography of the human brain, the book presented by SZIKLA et al. might seem to some to be devoted to superfluous precision, especially as it is inspired by "stereotactic" thinking. The large arterial trunks and their branches were described by anatomists for a long time, then were restudied by neuroradiologists for recognition in a more and more detailed manner on arteriograms. However, until now no encompassing work has been done to specify precisely the relationship of the blood vessels to that large and important organ, the human brain cortex, thereby permitting the recognition of the sulci and gyri as a function of the successive curves imposed on the various vessels by the deep infoldings of the cortex. Insofar as the radiologic evaluation of the cerebral cortex is concerned, fractional pneumoencephalography allows the injection of a number of sulci and fissures via the subarachnoid spaces. It should be pointed out, however, that sufficiently complete and interpretable images are obtained only under favorable circumstances (successful technique, cerebral atrophy, absence of cerebral edema, absence of arachnoid symphysis, etc. ). In addition a large number of sulci cannot be made visible by pneumography for strictly anatomic reasons such as the level of their opening into cisternal spaces.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The go-to resource for managing a full spectrum of clinical scenarios in acute ischemic stroke Ever-evolving technological advances have created a daunting number of emergent neurointerventional protocols and therapies for treating acute ischemic stroke. This has created an urgent need for reader-friendly, hands-on resources. Video Atlas of Acute Ischemic Stroke Intervention edited by renowned neuroinventional stroke experts Maxim Mokin, Elad I. Levy, Adnan H. Siddiqui, and esteemed contributors fills a void in education and knowledge with interactive, case-based guidance on mastering challenging stroke interventions. The atlas leverages current knowledge and decades of experience in acute stroke treatment and device innovations to familiarize clinicians at various career stages with a wide repertoire of techniques available in the neurointerventional suite. The book focuses on technical aspects of interventional stroke procedures including pitfalls and complications, an overview of the most useful tools of the trade, and discussion of pre- and post-procedural care. Eighteen chapters provide comprehensive coverage on the most common endovascular treatment approaches for acute stroke—aspiration and stent-retriever thrombectomy of proximal, distal, and tandem occlusions. Several cases focus on recognition and management of complications that clinicians may encounter during emergent procedures. Topics include the importance of arterial access, unmet need in current devices, and methods for overcoming these challenges. Key Highlights Thirty-eight individually narrated, high-definition videos describe angiographic and procedural cases, step by step High-quality illustrations emphasize and delineate key aspects of complex procedures Firsthand tips and tricks enhance the ability to manage highly challenging and less common pathologies, including arterial dissection, atherosclerosis, and venous strokes This must-have resource will benefit all practitioners involved in the interventional care of patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes are common neurological emergencies. In recent years, endovascular intervention has become a standard of care in treating acute ischemic stroke, aneurysms, and vascular malformations. As a result, noninvasive CT- and MRI-based techniques have been increasingly used in emergency settings. In this context, neurovascular imaging has become an essential part of the curriculum for training emergency radiologists, stroke neurologists, and vascular neurosurgeons. This book provides a comprehensive review of the entire spectrum of emergent neurovascular imaging, with the emphasis on noninvasive CT angiography (CTA), MR angiography (MRA), and perfusion techniques. It is organized into 11 chapters. The first three chapters address the topics of acute stroke imaging, including algorithms based on recent clinical trials and updated American Heart Association stroke guideline, vascular territories, and stroke mimics. These are followed by discussions of cerebrovenous thrombosis, vasculopathies, aneurysms, and vascular malformations. Remaining chapters are devoted to the traumatic neurovascular injury, as well as the relatively rare albeit important topics of head and neck vascular emergencies and spinal vascular diseases. The book has an image-rich format, including more than 300 selected CT, MRI, or digital subtraction angiography (DSA) images. Atlas of Emergency Neurovascular Imaging is an essential resource for physicians and related professionals, residents, and fellows in emergency medicine, neuroradiology, emergency imaging, neurology, and vascular neurosurgery and can successfully serve as a primary learning tool or a quick reference guide.
