This book was released on 1978 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper give conditions which imply the existence of a unique, globally attracting steady state solution of a certain class of reaction-diffusion systems with inhomogeneous Dirichlet conditions. In addition, an example is given which shows that when the above conditions are not satisfied the steady state may bifurcate. (Author).

Book Synopsis Asymptotics for Dissipative Nonlinear Equations by : Nakao Hayashi
Download or read book Asymptotics for Dissipative Nonlinear Equations written by Nakao Hayashi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-21 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of problems of the natural sciences lead to nonlinear partial differential equations. However, only a few of them have succeeded in being solved explicitly. Therefore different methods of qualitative analysis such as the asymptotic methods play a very important role. This is the first book in the world literature giving a systematic development of a general asymptotic theory for nonlinear partial differential equations with dissipation. Many typical well-known equations are considered as examples, such as: nonlinear heat equation, KdVB equation, nonlinear damped wave equation, Landau-Ginzburg equation, Sobolev type equations, systems of equations of Boussinesq, Navier-Stokes and others.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers collected in this volume are contributions to the 33rd session of the Seminaire de Mathematiques Superieures (SMS) on "Topological Methods in Differential Equations and Inclusions". This session of the SMS took place at the Universite de Montreal in July 1994 and was a NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI). The aim of the ASI was to bring together a considerable group of young researchers from various parts of the world and to present to them coherent surveys of some of the most recent advances in this area of Nonlinear Analysis. During the meeting 89 mathematicians from 20 countries have had the opportunity to get acquainted with various aspects of the subjects treated in the lectures as well as the chance to exchange ideas and learn about new problems arising in the field. The main topics teated in this ASI were the following: Fixed point theory for single- and multi-valued mappings including topological degree and its generalizations, and topological transversality theory; existence and multiplicity results for ordinary differential equations and inclusions; bifurcation and stability problems; ordinary differential equations in Banach spaces; second order differential equations on manifolds; the topological structure of the solution set of differential inclusions; effects of delay perturbations on dynamics of retarded delay differential equations; dynamics of reaction diffusion equations; non smooth critical point theory and applications to boundary value problems for quasilinear elliptic equations.

Book Synopsis Asymptotic Analysis by : Mikhail V. Fedoryuk
Download or read book Asymptotic Analysis written by Mikhail V. Fedoryuk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book we present the main results on the asymptotic theory of ordinary linear differential equations and systems where there is a small parameter in the higher derivatives. We are concerned with the behaviour of solutions with respect to the parameter and for large values of the independent variable. The literature on this question is considerable and widely dispersed, but the methods of proofs are sufficiently similar for this material to be put together as a reference book. We have restricted ourselves to homogeneous equations. The asymptotic behaviour of an inhomogeneous equation can be obtained from the asymptotic behaviour of the corresponding fundamental system of solutions by applying methods for deriving asymptotic bounds on the relevant integrals. We systematically use the concept of an asymptotic expansion, details of which can if necessary be found in [Wasow 2, Olver 6]. By the "formal asymptotic solution" (F.A.S.) is understood a function which satisfies the equation to some degree of accuracy. Although this concept is not precisely defined, its meaning is always clear from the context. We also note that the term "Stokes line" used in the book is equivalent to the term "anti-Stokes line" employed in the physics literature.
Book Synopsis Dynamical Systems by : Ludwig Arnold
Download or read book Dynamical Systems written by Ludwig Arnold and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the lecture notes written by the four principal speakers at the C.I.M.E. session on Dynamical Systems held at Montecatini, Italy in June 1994. The goal of the session was to illustrate how methods of dynamical systems can be applied to the study of ordinary and partial differential equations. Topics in random differential equations, singular perturbations, the Conley index theory, and non-linear PDEs were discussed. Readers interested in asymptotic behavior of solutions of ODEs and PDEs and familiar with basic notions of dynamical systems will wish to consult this text.

Book excerpt: Equadiff-91 stems from the series of conferences initiated by the late Professor Vogel. The first conference Equadiff-70 which was held in Marseille. Since then, similar conferences had been held in Brussels, Florence, Wurzburg as well as Xanthi. The purpose of the Equadiff series of conferences is to present the latest development in the field of differential equations, both ordinary and partial, including their numerical treatment and applications to the mathematics community. These conferences had attracted renowned mathematicians from all over the world to present their studies and findings. The latest conference under the series was Equadiff-91, held in Barcelona. It attracted some 30 renowned mathematicians. Researchers and graduate students of pure and applied mathematics will find this compilation of conference proceedings up-to-date, relevant and insightful.
