Book excerpt: El desempleo de larga duración es consecuencia del desajuste entre las competencias que poseen algunos individuos y las que el mercado de trabajo demanda. Impactos negativos son la dificultad de encontrar oportunidades por la depreciación de su formación profesional, la exclusión social y la desorientación ante la búsqueda de empleo. De esta forma, el objetivo del trabajo fue determinar las competencias necesarias para la empleabilidad de los desempleados de larga duración atendidos por CCOO Aragón en Zaragoza para el logro de su acceso al mercado laboral. Para ello se revisaron los aportes teóricos de Alles (2009), Benavides (2005), Morán y Fínez (2014) y Spencer y Spencer (1993), entre otros, quienes definen las competencias, cardinales y específicas, relacionándolas con la empleabilidad. La investigación fue descriptiva, de campo, no experimental y transversal. La muestra fue de 206 desempleados de larga duración (CCOO Zaragoza). El instrumento fue un cuestionario de 26 preguntas cerradas con dirección positiva y con 5 alternativas de respuesta. Se concluyó que los desempleados encuestados han desarrollado las competencias cardinales y la empleabilidad pero apenas han iniciado a desarrollar sus competencias específicas gerenciales.

Se trata concretamente del paro de larga duración, que consiste en una prolongación del periodo de desempleo más allá de un año. El paro de larga duración no es solo un problema laboral concreto que se agota en el terreno de las coyunturas del mercado de trabajo o en las soluciones prácticas aportadas por las políticas de empleo. Más allá de esto, es un analizador crucial de las dinámicas de desigualdad que tienen lugar en las sociedades industriales. Además de las aspiraciones de índole teórica dirigidas a enmarcar el objeto de investigación, esta tesis persigue describir y analizar la situación concreta de los parados de larga duración en España. Este objetivo exige adentrarnos en las prácticas cotidianas de los parados y en sus actitudes sobre el desempleo a través de entrevistas en profundidad a los cuatro grandes grupos que componen el paro de larga duración: el primero sería el de los parados jóvenes que buscan su primer empleo; el segundo se compondría, igualmente, por parados jóvenes, pero que cuentan ya con alguna experiencia laboral; el tercer grupo corresponde a mujeres entre 30-40 años; finalmente, el cuarto recoge a los parados varones mayores de 45 años.
