Book excerpt: This is about social innovation and organisational transformation through the Arts. It presents live artists working in business settings as catalysts for change. The book primarily proposes two approaches for Arts-in-Business: 1) The Arts applied as an instrument for teambuilding, communication training, leadership development, problem-solving and innovation. 2) The Arts integrated as a strategic process of organisational transformation. The message of the book is not to promote a new magical instrument, a new 'quick fix' for business. It is an attempt to show the great potential of 'Artful Creation; and at the same time point out that the birth of a new paradigm offers promising prospects for the future of business and society. The book offers ground-breaking ideas, new methods, inspiration and concrete recommendations.

Book excerpt: “There are more than 50 creative prompts for the artist (or artist at heart) to explore. Take the title of this book as affirmation, and get started.” —Fast Company More than 50 assignments, ideas, and prompts to expand your world and help you make outstanding new things to put into it Curator Sarah Urist Green left her office in the basement of an art museum to travel and visit a diverse range of artists, asking them to share prompts that relate to their own ways of working. The result is You Are an Artist, a journey of creation through which you'll invent imaginary friends, sort books, declare a cause, construct a landscape, find your band, and become someone else (or at least try). Your challenge is to filter these assignments through the lens of your own experience and make art that reflects the world as you see it. You don't have to know how to draw well, stretch a canvas, or mix a paint color that perfectly matches that of a mountain stream. This book is for anyone who wants to make art, regardless of experience level. The only materials you'll need are what you already have on hand or can source for free. Full of insights, techniques, and inspiration from art history, this book opens up the processes and practices of artists and proves that you, too, have what it takes to call yourself one. You Are an Artist brings together more than 50 assignments gathered from some of the most innovative creators working today, including Sonya Clark, Michelle Grabner, The Guerrilla Girls, Fritz Haeg, Pablo Helguera, Nina Katchadourian, Toyin Ojih Odutola, J. Morgan Puett, Dread Scott, Alec Soth, Gillian Wearing, and many others.

Book excerpt: Life as Art brings the resources of contemporary aesthetics since Nietzsche to bear on the problems of how one integrates the aesthetic emphases of meaning, liberation, and creativity into one’s daily life. By linking together the aesthetic and ethical accounts of critical theorists, phenomenologists, and existentialists into a coherent view on the artful life, Life as Art shows the ways in which much of contemporary Continental theory has been concerned with alternative ways of constructing one’s own life. Seen as a unified phenomenon, life as art signifies an active attempt to create a life which bears the resistance, openness, and creativity found in artworks.

Book excerpt: Artistic intervention, where the world of the arts is brought into organizations, has increasingly become a research field in itself with strong links to both creativity and innovation. Opportunities for the arts to interact with public and private organizations occur worldwide, but during the last decade artistic interventions have received growing attention in both practice and research. This book is the first comprehensive attempt to map the development of the field and provides an international overview of the area of artistic interventions and their impact on organizations from different perspectives, ranging from strategic management to organizational development, innovation and organizational learning. Featuring chapters from prominent and emerging scholars, including Nancy J. Adler, Barbara Czarniawska, Lotte Darsø and Alexander Styhre, it places artistic interventions within an international context. The book also offers readers the opportunity to learn from experiences in a varied range of organisations, including newspapers, manufacturing, government, schools, and covers many art-forms, such as music, contemporary dance, painting, photography, and theatre. Using extensive empirical examples, this book is vital reading for researchers and scholars of creativity and cultural industries, as well as innovation, creative entrepreneurship, organizational studies and management.

Another chapter presents and explains best practices in leadership development are presented from a study of top firms. How the capacity for creative lifelong learning can be developed in undergraduates through embedded assessments is reported. How can we go beyond the academic article or sustainability report? All reports and all scholarly pieces are narratives of a sort, each choosing which evidence suits and each having some sense of beginning, middle and end.Through their use of fiction, art and poetry the seven papers in this Special Issue of The Journal of Corporate Citizenship are challenging what might typically be expected as the form of an academic article. These challenges include identifying silent voices, linking of our hands, hearts and heads via art, a poem, a napkin to communicate, the life of an average academic, stories of gladiatorial combat for promotion, and a man’s day in a non-specific future. This mix of challenge in both form and message contributes to the ability of the papers to advance understanding, and reinforces how an innovative approach to conveying the message can advance debate.

Book excerpt: Ali Smith melds the tale and the essay into a magical hybrid form, a song of praise to the power of stories in our lives In February 2012, the novelist Ali Smith delivered the Weidenfeld lectures on European comparative literature at St. Anne’s College, Oxford. Her lectures took the shape of this set of discursive stories. Refusing to be tied down to either fiction or the essay form, Artful is narrated by a character who is haunted—literally—by a former lover, the writer of a series of lectures about art and literature. A hypnotic dialogue unfolds, a duet between and a meditation on art and storytelling, a book about love, grief, memory, and revitalization. Smith’s heady powers as a fiction writer harmonize with her keen perceptions as a reader and critic to form a living thing that reminds us that life and art are never separate. Artful is a book about the things art can do, the things art is full of, and the quicksilver nature of all artfulness. It glances off artists and writers from Michelangelo through Dickens, then all the way past postmodernity, exploring every form, from ancient cave painting to 1960s cinema musicals. This kaleidoscope opens up new, inventive, elastic insights—on the relation of aesthetic form to the human mind, the ways we build our minds from stories, the bridges art builds between us. Artful is a celebration of literature’s worth in and to the world and a meaningful contribution to that worth in itself. There has never been a book quite like it.

Risale-i Nur (Treatise of Light) Training Program We are inviting you for an utterly different experience, an interactive book full of incredible discoveries, where you will come to an impressive visual journey. READING THE BOOK OF UNIVERSE AND RISALE-I NUR HAS NEVER BEEN SO PLEASANT. In total, there are 446 visuals and 45 videos utilized (rate of visuality is 50%) in this enormous study, which is a first attempt in its area worldwide, providing academic proof of the truth of the Belief in Allah on an intellectual and scientific basis. This book is penned down in order to introduce you a piece of work, that is so unbelievably and astonishingly perfect that it will surprise you with the high truths and grand scientific discoveries contained therein and will make some of you say “ How come I have never heard of it until now!” (Or could not really discover it). The main subject of study of these books and the Treatise of Nature is the following: To give correct answers to three basic questions of existence, which have remained as the unknown secrets of the universe that have been always wondered by the humanity. The discovery of the right answers in these areas has been possible not only with the use of the mind/intellect which is incapable of reaching to the truth on its own but rather with the common guidance of divine revelation and the mind. Nevertheless, the answers to the questions that were asked have been discovered solely with rational inferences and logical evidences. These three questions are: “Where did this universe and those within it come from? Where will they go? And Why are they here, what is their mission? That is to ask “What are we doing here?” High truths, which the whole humanity needs and which are appealing to all those who look for the explanation of the basic reality of existence and which is more interesting for the world of science and the scientists and which is brought by divine revelation, are discovered once again and proved with rational methods in these works. Especially today, while quantum physics, astronomy and astrophysics have reached to such advanced levels, common answers are looked for these three questions on matter, universe and human being; the science and these works study the same subjects and share a common ground of work. Here you are: The work, which contains in itself a spiritual/immaterial treasury for people who have an irresistible interest and passion for science and learning, is called RISALE-I NUR (TREATISE OF LIGHT). The Treatise of Nature has a special place within Risale-i Nur. In “the New Perspectives from the Treatise of Nature”, you are invited for an adventure of looking for and finding out the truth. * Studying academically, on the basis of logic and science, the theories which are developed as alternatives to the existence of a Creator in order to explain the astonishing happenings and the liveliness in the universe. *In a world where we stand as observers, looking for answers to questions: Where did we come from? Where are we going and who are we? What are we doing here? Together we are setting on a journey of discovery along the lines that we wrote in order to make some contribution to the efforts to understand the functioning and the purposes of the universe, which is the final target and the arrival point for all sciences. We have a very strong reason to begin this journey: to witness the magnificent details of the divine technology and uniqueness of the artful creation and hence, to take a big step on the way of achieving the true faith that was demanded from us by Allah. We would like you to accompany us in this imaginary and mental journey of discovery. There is only one fixed price for a ticket of the Journey: a strong sense of wonder in the search for truth. YOU ARE INVITED TO THE ADVENTURE! Discovering the high truths about the humanity, life, universe and religion… Advancing along the way of progress for mind, soul and heart… Making sense of the world in which we exist… Obtaining an awareness that is more amazing than ever before… Understanding the working mechanisms of the divine technology... We keenly believe that with this method of reinforcement (Allah willing) highest level of benefit will be realized in terms of understanding Risale-i Nur and the universe. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relationship between the fine art and the business sphere has never been harmonious; it has been rejected, fought about, ignored, exploited, criticised and questioned, but it is still omnipresent. Commonly assumed to be antagonistic, situating art and the business organisation sphere in the discourses of new knowledge creation and learning, however, holds the potential of exploring new ways of relating the two spheres. This book investigates such potentialities, discussing the limits and challenges of these new forms of relating. It does so by first outlining the changing discourses of the art and business spheres, and how they produce different ways of relating to their respective worlds. Second, it brings into conversation an ethnographic study of an art-business-collaboration organised by two artists with a Deleuzian concept of dialogue. Dialogue, here, is understood as a non-hierarchical encounter developing between two spheres; a source of creation no longer belonging to anyone. In what is here termed “a machinic research framework” – accounting for composition and movement on all scales – the book shows how making connections is a discursive and material practice with expectations and imaginaries playing a central role. It also addresses the paradoxical interplays between losing control and maintaining control in collaborative attempts, between reaching out for the Other and carrying out identity work, and between positions in the centre and in the margins of the highly stratified and codified areas of business organisations and fine art. Eventually, this book examines small dialogical instances that escape the stratifying forces dividing the two worlds, thereby creating a temporary space. It closes with a reflection on the role of research in thinking (and making) new ways of relating the world of fine art and the business organisation sphere.

This book was released on 2023-11-30 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This groundbreaking handbook leads the way in accelerating the transition to a sustainable circular economy by introducing the concept of a catalyst as a positive and enhancing driving force for sustainability. Catalysts create and maintain favourable conditions for complex systemic sustainability transition changes, and a discussion and understanding of catalysts is required to move from a linear economy to a sustainable and circular economy. With contributions from leading experts from around the globe, this volume presents theoretical insights, contextualised case studies, and participatory methodologies, which identify different catalysts, including technology, innovation, business models, management and organisation, regulation, sustainability policy, product design, and culture. The authors then show how these catalysts accelerate sustainability transitions. As a unique value to the reader, the book brings together public policy and private business perspectives to address the circular economy as a systemic change. Its theoretical and practical perspectives are coupled with real-world case studies from Finland, Italy, China, India, Nigeria, and others to provide tangible insights on catalysing the circular economy across organisational, hierarchical, and disciplinary boundaries. With its broad interdisciplinary and geographically diverse scope, this handbook will be a valuable tool for researchers, academics, and policy-makers in the fields of circular economy, sustainability transitions, environmental studies, business, and the social sciences more broadly.
