Im Rahmen des Seminars „Sozialstrukturanalyse – Armut und Reichtum“ haben wir den Bereich Armut und Gesundheit in einer Sitzung bereits kurz thematisiert. Dieses Thema hat mein Interesse geweckt, sodass ich den Zusammenhang zwischen Armut und Gesundheit in meiner Hausarbeit genauer untersuchen möchte. Hierzu habe ich eine eigene Fragstellung entwickelt, um dieses recht umfangreiche Thema einzugrenzen. Mit Hilfe der Frage „Inwiefern beeinflusst ein geringes Einkommen die menschliche Gesundheit“ versuche ich zu klären, in welchem Zusammenhang Einkommen und Gesundheit zueinander stehen und ob sich ein geringes Einkommen eventuell negativ auf die menschliche Gesundheit auswirkt. Zunächst möchte ich hierzu einige wissenschaftliche Definitionen von Armut vorstellen, bevor ich dann im nächsten Schritt auf einige Aspekte der Empirie zu sprechen komme. In diesem Bereich möchte ich anhand von wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen des Robert Koch-Instituts den Zusammenhang zwischen Armut und Gesundheit aufzeigen, wobei ich mich auf die gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen von Einkommensungleichheit konzentriere. Nachdem ich kurz die Untersuchungsergebnisse des Zusammenhangs von Einkommen und Morbidität sowie Einkommen und Mortalität vorgestellt habe, gehe ich des Weiteren auf den Zusammenhang von Einkommen und Gesundheitsverhalten, wie auch Einkommen und Gesundheitsversorgung ein. Unter diesen Aspekten werde ich die Punkte Tabakkonsum, sportliche Beteiligung und die Inanspruchnahme der ärztlichen Versorgung behandeln. Im abschließenden Fazit werde ich dann die Ergebnisse der Untersuchungen zusammenfassen und mögliche Entwicklungen bzw. Diskussionsansätze aufzeigen.
