Out of which the majority were the estimated more than 107,000 Tamil Indian indentured workers who arrived in British Mauritius between 1826 and 1910. This ground-breaking book is essentially the long, complex, and epic social history of their migration, settlement, and of their descendants in the making of the Mauritian state and nation over a period of almost three centuries.
