Book excerpt: "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me declares the LORD." (Jeremiah 9:23,24). A great deal of interest has been aroused in recent years concerning the Holy Spirit, His identity and His work. This is no mere coincidence. Never has there been a time when the Church has needed the Holy Spirit more and yet been so bankrupt of its "Power" than today. Could it be that we have misunderstood something crucial about the Holy Spirit? Bruce Bivens has devoted the major portion of the last three years to the intense study of the person of the Holy Spirit. He has been pleasantly surprised by the depth, beauty and simplicity of what the Lord has to say concerning the mysteries of the Godhead and the person of the Holy Spirit. And so will you. "Are We Missing Something Here?" is the product of his study and is refreshingly straightforward, logical, challenging, Bible-based and empowering. If your tired of all the propaganda floating around the Church concerning the Trinity and the Holy Spirit If your tired of belonging to a "Powerless" Church If your tired of the absence of "Victory" in your own life If you would like to know for sure just what the truth is concerning the Godhead and the Holy Spirit Then this book is for you! God would like nothing more than to pour out the Holy Spirit upon us and to give us POWER but the Holy Spirit cannot be given in its full "Power" until we have a much truer understanding and appreciation of "Who" He is, "How" He has come to be offered to us and "Why". The answers to these questions will not only astound you, they will also empower you (and your church) as never before. This book will give you those answers in a straightforward, understandable and powerful way. "Are We Missing Something Here" is written primarily for Seventh-day Adventists but is worthy of the study of Christians from ALL denominations. If your ready for "meat" instead of "milk", substance instead of ideas, the Word of God instead of human understanding if you would dare to know the Truth -- then this book is what you have been looking for. I make almost NOTHING off of this book -- that is Not my intent. I am only interested in getting this message out there and every effort has been made to do so at an affordable cost! However, I am confident that you will find this one of the BEST INVESTMENTS you have ever made (in that it provides the most BIBLICAL and SOP information you will find on the subject) -- so I strongly encourage you to invest in this book! I am so confident in this that I will PERSONALLY REFUND your original purchase price (not including shipping and handling) if you are Not satisfied (please understand that I am NOT wealthy and I only stand by this offer because I am so confident in the material presented -- so if you ask for a refund I only ask that you provide an explanation as to WHY you are dissatisfied and that you provide Proof of Purchase). I PROMISE that You will not be sorry!! You will also want to check out Bruce´s Website for additional valuable information on current issues in the Christian Church and on "Enjoying the Spirit-filled Life". To view his site Click Here. What others are saying!: 1. "Are We Missing Something Here" - "is one of the most beautiful treatises I have ever laid hands on! It is scholarly and extremely well done...Bruce´s book proves that we cannot receive the Holy Spirit until we know all that is involved

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is every person's - particularly every parent's - worst nightmare. For a loved one to walk out through the front door and never to return is one of the most heartbreaking, terrifying and harrowing experiences someone can go through. Not to know the fate of a person close to you is simply agonising - did they choose to disappear? Were they involved in an accident or did something even worse befall them? Not knowing for sure and being uncertain as to whether you should be saying goodbye or waiting for news of their return makes for a life in limbo. Every day in the UK, a staggering 600 people go missing. Most return within 72 hours of disappearing but there are still a large number that are never seen again. Some are students who take off to distant countries without telling their parents and then disappear; some are husbands who have left the marital home to come to terms with their own problems, there are runaways, unexplained disappearances and missing parents. In this compelling book, journalist Rose Rouse is granted exclusive access to the mothers, brothers, sons, wives, sisters and daughters of those who have vanished without trace. Take 19-year-old Eddie Gibson who went missing in Cambodia in 2004 - his courageous mother just wants her son back; or Tyler Blake, whose mother went missing when he was three - now nine years old, he desperately misses her and wants her back. Rose shares in the turmoil that they have endured in their quest to be reunited with these who have disappeared from their lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows that with minimal modifications of postulates of non-relativistic quantum mechanics to allow for non-unitary representations of symmetry groups (Lorentz group in particular), one achieves a fully relativistic quantum theory without any of the issues (like negative energies, etc.) that led to the second quantization and QFT. It is shown that quite a few phenomena in elementary particle physics (like for example neutral kaon mixing, CP symmetry and it's supposed breaking) can be explained purely as a consequence of relativistic invariance and relativistic invariance alone. It is shown that by categorizing mesons via the representation of Lorentz group they belong to, one can explain a lot of their properties, as well as a lot of discrepancies in the particle data tables. It is also shown that based on properties of Lorentz representations of products of meson decays, a lot of excited states listed in PDG tables are really several different excitations with similar masses. Relativistic treatment of bound states in momentum space is developed and used to calculate decay widths of various composite particles like Positronium or mesons, and then those decay widths are used to calculate various properties of quarks (like their masses or charges) that were previously misunderstood. In particular, it is shown that quarks are actually quite heavy (around 3.5GeV for up/down quarks) and that while Lorentz invariance allows both fractional values (2/3, -1/3) as well as integer values (2,1), based on (very sparse) available experimental data, integer quark charges are more consistent with observed decay widths than fractional charges.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The invention of cinema was ingenious, so much so that virtually no-one quite knew what to do with it. In its earliest stages, especially with the advent of the feature film, it needed models, and opera proved to be especially useful in that regard. The allure of opera to cinema early in the twentieth century held up through the silent era, into sound films, through the golden age of movies, and beyond. This book explores the numerous ways – some predictable, some unexpected, and some bizarre – in which this has happened. The influence of Richard Wagner on filmmakers has been especially striking, and some have even devised visual images that seem to emerge from a kind of non-verbal Wagnerian essence – a formative, musical urge that can underlie a cinematic idea, defying explanation and remaining purely sensory. Directors like Griffith, DeMille, Eisenstein, Chaplin, Bunuel or Hitchcock have intuited this possibility. Schroeder provides a fascinating, well-researched and always entertaining account of the influence of one medium on another, and shows that opera can often be found lurking in the background (or booming in the foreground) of an impressive range of films.

Book excerpt: "The story of an obsessive-compulsive housebreaker whose every waking moment is jam-packed with finicky clockwork ritual--the kind of intense micro-planning that might have made even Napoleon back off...Matthew Dicks has created an unforgettable character that will have you torn between wanting to throttle him--or adopt him." --Alan Bradley, author of the New York Times bestselling Flavia de Luce novels A career criminal with OCD tendencies and a savant-like genius for bringing order to his crime scenes, Martin considers himself one of the best. After all, he’s been able to steal from the same people for years on end—virtually undetected. Of course, this could also be because of his unique business model—taking only items that will go unnoticed by the homeowner. After all, who would notice a missing roll of toilet paper here, a half-used bottle of maple syrup there, or even a rarely used piece of china buried deep within a dusty cabinet? Even though he's never met these homeowners, spending hours in their houses, looking through their photo albums and reading their journals, he feels like he knows them. So Martin decides to meddle more in their lives—playing the part of a rather odd guardian angel—even though it means breaking many of his neurotic rules. In this hilarious, suspenseful and often profound novel about a man used to planning every second of his life, Martin comes to realize that life is much better lived on the edge (at least some of the time).

Book excerpt: Michael Hiebert's remarkable debut novel tells the riveting story of a small southern town haunted by tragedy, one brave woman's struggle to put a troubling mystery to rest--and its impact on the sensitive boy who comes of age in the midst of it all. . . Abe Teal wasn't even born when Ruby Mae Vickers went missing twelve years ago. Few people in Alvin, Alabama, talk about the months spent looking for her, or about how Ruby Mae's lifeless body was finally found beneath a willow tree. Even Abe's mom, Leah, Alvin's only detective, has avoided the subject. But now, another girl is missing. Fourteen-year-old Mary Ann Dailey took the bus home from school as usual, then simply vanished. Townsfolk comb the dense forests and swampy creeks to no avail. Days later, Tiffany Michelle Yates disappears. Abe saw her only hours before, holding an ice cream cone and wearing a pink dress. Observant and smart, Abe watches his mother battle small-town bureaucracy and old resentments, desperate to find both girls and quietly frantic for her own children's safety. As the search takes on a terrifying urgency, Abe traverses the shifting ground between innocence and hard-won understanding, eager to know and yet fearing what will be revealed. Dream with Little Angels is by turns lyrical, heartbreaking, and shocking--a brilliantly plotted novel of literary suspense and of the dark shadows, painful secrets, and uncompromising courage in one small town. "One of the best books I've read in a long, long while." --Lisa Jackson, New York Times bestselling author
