Book Synopsis Parachute Recovery Systems by : Theo W. Knacke
Download or read book Parachute Recovery Systems written by Theo W. Knacke and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide recovery system engineers in government and industry with tools to evaluate, analyze, select, and design parachute recovery systems. These systems range from simple, one-parachute assemblies to multiple-parachute systems, and may include equipment for impact attenuation, flotation, location, retrieval, and disposition. All system aspects are discussed, including the need for parachute recovery, the selection of the most suitable recovery system concept, concept analysis, parachute performance, force and stress analysis, material selection, parachute assembly and component design, and manufacturing. Experienced recovery system engineers will find this publication useful as a technical reference book; recent college graduates will find it useful as a textbook for learning about parachutes and parachute recovery systems; and technicians with extensive practical experience will find it useful as an engineering textbook that includes a chapter on parachute- related aerodynamics. In this manual, emphasis is placed on aiding government employees in evaluating and supervising the design and application of parachute systems. The parachute recovery system uses aerodynamic drag to decelerate people and equipment moving in air from a higher velocity to a lower velocity and to a safe landing. This lower velocity is known as rate of descent, landing velocity, or impact velocity, and is determined by the following requirements: (1) landing personnel uninjured and ready for action, (2) landing equipment and air vehicles undamaged and ready for use or refurbishment, and (3) impacting ordnance at a preselected angle and velocity.

The book includes comparisons with the American shuttle system and offers accounts of the Soviet test pilots chosen for training to fly the system, and the operational, political and engineering problems that finally sealed the fate of Buran and ultimately of NASA’s Shuttle fleet.
Book Synopsis Bosch Automotive Electrics and Automotive Electronics by : Robert Bosch GmbH
Download or read book Bosch Automotive Electrics and Automotive Electronics written by Robert Bosch GmbH and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a complete reference guide to automotive electrics and electronics. This new edition of the definitive reference for automotive engineers, compiled by one of the world's largest automotive equipment suppliers, includes new and updated material. As in previous editions different topics are covered in a concise but descriptive way backed up by diagrams, graphs, photographs and tables enabling the reader to better comprehend the subject. This fifth edition revises the classical topics of the vehicle electrical systems such as system architecture, control, components and sensors. There is now greater detail on electronics and their application in the motor vehicle, including electrical energy management (EEM) and discusses the topic of inter system networking within the vehicle. It also includes a description of the concept of hybrid drive a topic that is particularly current due to its ability to reduce fuel consumption and therefore CO2 emissions. This book will benefit automotive engineers and design engineers, automotive technicians in training and mechanics and technicians in garages. It may also be of interest to teachers/ lecturers and students at vocational colleges, and enthusiasts.

Book Synopsis Chassis Handbook by : Bernhard Heißing
Download or read book Chassis Handbook written by Bernhard Heißing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-09 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of all the assistance offered by electronic control systems, the latest generation of passenger car chassis still relies on conventional chassis elements. With a view towards driving dynamics, this book examines these conventional elements and their interaction with mechatronic systems. First, it describes the fundamentals and design of the chassis and goes on to examine driving dynamics with a particularly practical focus. This is followed by a detailed description and explanation of the modern components. A separate section is devoted to the axles and processes for axle development. With its revised illustrations and several updates in the text and list of references, this new edition already includes a number of improvements over the first edition.
