Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Disciple III Remember Who You Are: Study Manual combines direction and information enabling study of the text – the Bible. Two titles in the commentary section of the manual reflect ideas central to the prophets and Paul's letters. "The Word of the Lord" picks up a familiar phrase from the prophets – a clear statement of their calling: They spoke (and speak) for God. Each member of the group needs a study manual and a Bible. The Bible is the text for the study and the study manual will guide group members in their study and preparation for the weekly group session. The study manual also includes suggestions for individual research and study-related activities. Space is provided for taking notes while reading Scripture, for recording thoughts and questions arising out of daily study, and for notes during the weekly group session. The titles of the sessions along with theme words and theme verses, and major persons, events, and topics will set the sequence of the biblical story in the minds of the participants. The principal Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story. Disciple III Remember Who You Are is the third study in the four-phase DISCIPLE program. The driving idea in this study is the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. The word You in the title is meant to be heard both in its singular form (the individual) and its plural form (the community). We are a community of memory. Participants in this 32 week study will read the major and minor Old Testament prophets, with the exception of Daniel, and will read the thirteen Letters traditionally attributed to Paul. To establish the historical context in which the prophets spoke for God, daily reading assignments draw also on the books of Deuteronomy through Chronicles. Several themes weave their way through the study – the call to remember; the call to repentance; the need for renewed vision; and the place of community. The prophets and Paul are continually calling hearers and readers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a people"set apart." Commitment and Time Involved 32 week study Three and one-half to four hours of independent study each week (40 minutes daily for leaders and 30 minutes daily for group members) in preparation for weekly group meetings. Attendance at weekly 2.5 hour meetings

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: . In scriptures God will paint, on the canvas of anointed Words, things about His Words teachings, concerning His Holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit. God's written Word has given us the Church, certain teachings for specific reasons. Should not the Church, continue to keep and hold up the banner, of sound doctrines, and teachings of Jesus Christ. God's Children are being robbed for a lack of knowledge and spiritual treason, done by man's traditions. Man has denied Gods Word from being taught, in the Revelation that the Holy Ghost, has revealed and given. There are things that are not acceptable, unto God. God has raised up an elite force, of gifted and well educated, anointed, Holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit. By using the statement of elite, God is saying, specially taught by Him, by the ministry and power of the Holy Ghost and powers of Heaven. This little book is not your average book, to just read and then, simply dismiss it, as if it is not important, Gods Word does not return void. In your reading this book, keep in mind that God has ordained certain things for the Church of Jesus Christ and His followers. Yet man's traditions have robbed, stolen and taken away from the Bibles truths. In doing so, man has ignored Gods ways and has slowed down things that Gods Spirit, will supper naturally change, now. God's Word will go forth and accomplish, everything that God has ordained and prophesied, in the Word of God. Here Is the Apostle Paul's Anointed Words unto the Church As you read the scriptures of the Bible, as they are rightly divided, Gods written Word has established, Gods way of doing things, in the Church of Jesus Christ. Who is man but a small little ant, to try and change, the teachings of the Gospel and ordained truths? God's Word says not to add or take away from this book. God has things to say in this book, it is up to you, to Hear its teaching and come out of wrong teachings, as man has watered down the truth, of Gods written Words teachings. The blind shall remain blind and lead the blind. But the faithful shall receive their reward from God. God has His purpose for this little book, for true New Testament doctrines, to be taught by the Holy Ghost, unto the Church of Jesus Christ. Sometimes God has, to interrupt man's thinking, to straighten up doctrinal teachings, so that the truth may be taught unto Gods Children. This being Gods way of keeping the doctrines and teaching of Jesus Christ alive and the truth passed down through all generations, as the Bible teaches things. Apostles And Prophets Receive Revelations By The Spirit of God As God inserts scriptures, it is God talking unto you, as a reader of His teachings. He simply anoints, His servant by the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Gods' way of exercising one of the fivefold ministry gifts that is being set in the Church of Jesus Christ. The Word of God is for reproof, rebuke and correction. God has a purpose for this books teaching, in the Body of Christ. Listen to these verses of scripture that the Apostle Paul wrote, as an anointed vessel by the power of the Holy Ghost. Things concerning His knowledge of the mystery of the Gospel and how he was taught by Revelation. Then he goes on to teach, Gods way of teaching the Church the mystery of the Gospel through. God's Holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit, as the Bible teaches that Gods Holy Apostles and Prophet will receive Revelations by the Spirit of God. Gods will for His teachings to remain true and alive throughout all generations of time, is by the Holy Ghost, which scripture, is referring to by the Spirit. Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His Holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit (Holy Ghost). Book excerpt: In Ephesians 4:11, the apostle Paul tells us that Jesus gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to the church. He did this in the days of the New Testament; the question is, does Jesus still give all of them to the church today? This book seeks to address this question. In this book you will find: . The ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers defined. . Names of people in the Bible who held these ministries. . Descriptions of each ministry from a biblical-historical perspective. . An examination of the contemporary expressions of the ministries of evangelists, pastors, and teachers. . Answers to objections about the presence of apostles and prophets in the church today. . A case for the continuance of the ministries of apostles and prophets in the modern church. . A description of the ministries of apostles and prophets in the contemporary church. John P. Lathrop is a graduate of Zion Bible College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is an Ordained Minister with the International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies and is currently active in pastoral ministry at the Christian Pentecostal Church in Newton, MA. In addition to pastoring, he regularly writes for Vista magazine, the official publication of the International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies, and for the Pneuma Review, a publication of the Pneuma Foundation. Book excerpt: This guide is designed to support a small group study of Acts that will enrich the faith of devout followers and, at the same time, be very accessible to people new, or simply interested in, the faith. The guide provides rich background history to help the student understand better the life and times of the early first century as well as brief biographies of each of the apostles who so actively participated in the early growth of the Church. The interconnections between Acts and the other books of the Bible are made known to the student, demonstrating how each book mutually supports the messages of the others. Through this, the student will learn to see that God has provided us a consistent narrative of His love. Through insightful questions, the student will develop an understanding of the theological challenges faced by the early church and the efforts of the apostles and other disciples to bridge these gaps in order to maintain unity of spirit. At the same time, it prompts the student to reflect on their own challenges to the faith with questions designed to transform these issues into engaging discussions within a small group setting.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do God's prophets and apostles walk the earth today? Many popular teachers say yes, including Bill Johnson from Bethel Church (Redding, California), Mike Bickle from the International House of Prayer (Kansas City, Missouri), and Rick Joyner from Morningstar Ministries (Fort Mill, South Carolina). But when examined in the light of Scripture, their teachings about prophets and apostles fall short. Whether you know it or not, you've probably encountered the fast-growing religious movement involving these and other teachers-the New Apostolic Reformation. The New Apostolic Reformation is led by men and women who claim to be modern-day prophets and apostles. They seek to bring God's kingdom to earth through their new revelations, miraculous powers, and novel practices like -Treasure Hunting, - -Sozo ministry, - -24/7 prayer rooms, - and -schools of supernatural ministry.- Some groups embrace all of these, others only some. Designed for individuals or groups, this study guide-used with the full-length companion book, God's Super-Apostles-will help you understand this bewildering movement. You'll learn what New Apostolic Reformation leaders teach about topics like apostles, prophets, spiritual warfare, demons, and miracles. You'll learn how their teachings about these topics deviate from historic Pentecostal and charismatic teachings. Most importantly, you'll learn how to respond to their teachings with Scripture. It will also guide you in developing personal strategies for countering the New Apostolic Reformation's growing influence. Editorial Reviews for God's Super-Apostles -In two recent books, R. Douglas Geivett and Holly Pivec provide a balanced biblical critique of the New Apostolic Reformation.... Both books are well written, fairly argued, and amply documented.... As a classical Pentecostal, I see brothers and sisters among leaders and followers of the New Apostolic Reformation. Chances are, you, your family, or your church has heard of NAR's doctrines or have been influenced by them. With R. Douglas Geivett and Holly Pivec, I believe that NAR doctrines are not true because unbiblical and unhelpful because not true.- -George P. Wood, Executive Editor, Assemblies of God Publications; General Council of the Assemblies of God -God's Super-Apostles is a clear and winsome work that provides just the right depth of examination, and that comes to clear and biblical conclusions.- -Tim Challies, Author and blogger at Challies.com Endorsements for God's Super-Apostles -Given the explosion of the apostolic movements, God's Super-Apostles represents a concise and valuable survey of what is happening around the globe. Geivett and Pivec provide insightful biblical and historical analyses, which are useful for those wanting to understand these sometimes bewildering movements. Especially beneficial are the distinctions the authors make between the teachings of the historic Pentecostal churches and the more recent New Apostolic Reformation views of such leaders as C. Peter Wagner and others.- -Vinson Synan, Dean Emeritus, Regent University School of Divinity -The authors clearly and systematically describe the movement's origins and outworkings, and they offer a thoughtful, balanced, and biblical counterpoint to its many errors and excesses. Their work is eminently practical, desperately needed, and long overdue.- -Paul Carden, Executive Director, The Center for Apologetics Research

Book excerpt: This is the full 12 Bible Study guide books in the 'Spotlight On The Minor Prophets' series; Jonah, Obadiah, Joel, Micah, Amos, Hosea, Nahum, Zephaniah, Habakkuk, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. Taken from a Christian standpoint, this is an introduction to the Old Testament Prophets, known commonly as the 'Minor Prophets'. This title in no way implies that they are inferior in any way to the giants amongst the prophets such as Isaiah or Ezekiel; but rather the word 'minor' merely applies to the brevity of the writings of these Old Testament prophets. Bible Study Guide for Group or Individual use These are not intended to be in-depth bible studies as such; but instead an introduction or summary of the Prophets, their times and influences both then and today. This short bible series on the Old Testament Prophets looked at from a New Testament Christian point of view, is intended for individual or group use, and I have found them useful for encouraging debate and conversation, on all the topics that affected the peoples at that time; and now affect ourselves in today's world. Studying the minor prophets reveals pearls of wisdom! Job states that "As sure as sparks fly upwards, Man is born to trouble." The social and economic troubles that the ancients faced are the same ones as we face now. It has been said that "if we do not learn from our mistakes, then we are doomed to repeat them." Perhaps it's time to listen to their problems and see what The Lord had to say through his spokesmen - whom we know as the 'Minor Prophets'. I for one fully believe that the guidance offered to these Old Testament characters, can for the most part be profitably applied by the New Testament Christian when looked upon in the light of the New Covenant that Christianity has to offer.
