Por desgracia estos estudios, demasiado centrados en extender las perspectivas occidentales, han ido ofreciendo, por su misma naturaleza circular, resultados poco espectaculares. El presente texto plantea tres objetivos: a) Desarrollar de una manera breve y concisa un panorama del estado actual de la psicología y la psiquiatría transculturales. b) Ofrecer un acercamiento entre antropología y psicología. c) Mostrar a la psicología y la psiquiatría transculturales como auténtica raíz de la que debería nacer, inexcusablemente, un tronco científico disciplinario que pretenda ser universal.
