Book Synopsis Four Wave Mixing Limitation in Multichannel Coherent Optical Communication by : Johan Nilsson
Download or read book Four Wave Mixing Limitation in Multichannel Coherent Optical Communication written by Johan Nilsson and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four-wave mixing (FWM) in a fiber is a nonlinear effect likely to impose severe restrictions on transmitted powers and channel spacing in optical frequency-division multiplexed (FDM) systems, hence limiting their information capacity. As a result of FWM waves at different frequencies can interact causing an inter-channel cross-talk. The efficiency of FWM is strongly dependent on the difference of phase velocities (phase-mismatch) between the interacting waves. Therefore, it will mainly play a role in dispersion shifted (DS) fibres and for densely spaced channels as are possible in coherent systems.
Book Synopsis Coherent Control of Four-Wave Mixing by : Yanpeng Zhang
Download or read book Coherent Control of Four-Wave Mixing written by Yanpeng Zhang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-05-30 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Coherent Control of Four-Wave Mixing" discusses the frequency, temporal and spatial domain interplays of four-wave mixing (FWM) processes induced by atomic coherence in multi-level atomic systems. It covers topics in five major areas: the ultrafast FWM polarization beats due to interactions between multi-color laser beams and multi-level media; coexisting Raman-Rayleigh-Brillouin-enhanced polarization beats due to color-locking noisy field correlations; FWM processes with different kinds of dual-dressed schemes in ultra-thin, micrometer and long atomic cells; temporal and spatial interference between FWM and six-wave mixing (SWM) signals in multi-level electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) media; spatial displacements and splitting of the probe and generated FWM beams, as well as the observations of gap soliton trains, vortex solitons, and stable multicomponent vector solitons in the FWM signals. The book is intended for scientists, researchers, advanced undergraduate and graduate students in Nonlinear Optics. Dr. Yanpeng Zhang is a professor and Zhiqiang Nie is a Ph. D. student at the Key Laboratory for Physical Electronics and Devices of the Ministry of Education, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. Dr. Min Xiao is a professor of physics at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, U.S.A.
Book Synopsis Four Wave Mixing in a Highly Nonlinear Media by : Noor Azura Awang
Download or read book Four Wave Mixing in a Highly Nonlinear Media written by Noor Azura Awang and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-02 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents a comprehensive study of the four wave mixing (FWM) effect in the highly nonlinear fibre (HNLF) and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA); and their applications. The nonlinearity parameters such as zero-dispersion wavelength (ZDW), chromatic dispersion (CD) and nonlinear coefficient of HNLF has successfully investigated by using several FWM techniques. Results from all techniques have been achieved approximately similar to the manufacturer specification. This technique is then employed for the measurement of the FWM power and FWM efficiency in a SOA, in addition to the gain performance, which is measured using conventional methods. Based on these parameters, a good agreement between experiments and numerical has been obtained. This characterization is important for nonlinear application such as wavelength conversion, fibre optic parametric amplifier (FOPA) and multiwavelength fibre laser. Wavelength conversion is a key for wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) networks. Wavelength converter based on HNLF and SOA are promising candidates for implementing wavelength conversion.

Book Synopsis The four-wave mixing issue in optical multichannel systems by :
Download or read book The four-wave mixing issue in optical multichannel systems written by and published by . This book was released on 1909 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
