Ce travail s'appuie sur plusieurs domaines des sciences humaines : la communication, la pragmatique, la rhetorique, la semantique, la semiotique, la sociolinguistique et la logique. Les analyses sont realisees a partir d'un corpus de 846 publicites francaises et de 492 annonces hongroises (affiches, annonces de presse et spots televises), recueilli entre le 1er janvier 1990 et le 31 decembre 1995. La demarche s'articule autour de deux axes : le premier a pour objectif de cerner les particularites de la persuasion publicitaire. Une etude approfondie des procedes rhetoriques et linguistiques mis en oeuvre en tant que moyens d'influence a permis de construire un modele de la persuasion. Dans cette perspective, le fonctionnement de l'implicite a fait l'objet d'une attention particuliere, ce qui a permis de degager la structure argumentative et seductive propre au phenomene publicitaire. Le second axe de cette recherche, caracterise par l'analyse comparative, a permis de conforter l'hypothese de l'influence du systeme de la langue et de la culture sur la creativite publicitaire. Les resultats fournissent des informations nouvelles sur le caractere universel de la publicite aussi bien du point de vue linguistique que socioculturel (comparaison entre un pays a "economie liberale" et un pays qui vient d'acceder a ce type de fonctionnement socio-economique)
